Little update about Beau. We haven’t been doing much during the winter months. He’s just been growing! He lost the baby tooth he broke back in September and his adult tooth is coming in. He’s been taped and is estimated to grow to be 16h 😳 gonna be a tall boy! I joined horse 4-H and Hippology (a horse knowledge 4-H competition group.) Been learning a lot with both groups. Beau has been able to go to new places and learn new things. Both of my 4-H groups are looking for donations/sponsorships to help cover costs of trips, stalls, equipment. If anyone is interested in donating, donations are 100% tax free, please let me know and I can get you the forms. Can’t wait for summer time and playing in the water again with Beau!

It’s been a few months since we’ve really done anything together (minus daily chores). But Beau is doing good. We went to the Oregon Horse Center and did the indoor trail. Beau did great with it all except the wooden donkey, he really didn’t like that at first.

No idea what place they got but doesn’t matter. She got what she wanted and that was to take Beau home! Welcome to your forever home Beau!!

If anyone who’s liked or followed Emily and Beaus journey is interested in adopting Beau next weekend please reach out and let us know. Emily is starting to panic a little because she wants to make sure he has the perfect home. Beau needs a strong leader, someone who understands baby/teen horses and will treat him kindly. She’s on the fence about keeping him, he’s a good boy, but I think if she knew he’d be in good hands it would help her make a confident decision. Thank you

Got to take Beau to the Beach for the first time! He LOVED the sand but did not like the salty water. About 2 weeks left before my time with him is done and he moves on to his forever home.

Day 2- Showmanship. Beau did amazing! We also spent time exploring the obstacles at the horse center. None of them liked the step-in water holes much.

Lots more desensitizing going on for Beau. This weekend we have been traveling to the Eugene Horse Center for a practice show. Saturday we did a halter class and trail in hand class. We also went to the river. Today we have a showmanship class. Beau also loved otter pops! He stole moms. 🤣

80 days. That’s about 2 and half months. He’s gone from wild to mild 😊 Today we walked in the St.Paul parade with a lot of other challenge horses and it was a lot of fun. HOT but fun. I enjoyed getting him all BEAU-tiful. ❤️

Beau-ba (Boba 🤣 Nickname) had SUCH a busy day today! He loaded and unloaded twice, went for an hour long ride. Met new friends. Exposed to two different locations with lots of obstacles. He did AMAZING! He was so tired and hungry when we finally got home.

Beau got his first bath today! He did really well. We’ve really just been working on the same things, just in different places. He has been doing well with the small obstacles. He was introduced to the ba****ck pad. Can’t believe I’ve had him for over 2 months already. ❤️

Felt like we took a couple steps backwards but with some help we’re back on track. Beau is super lovable and not scared of much but definitely thick headed at times.

Been awhile since I’ve updated. I’ve been getting help working with Beau. We’ve got him to lay down… mom thought he looked dead. He’s been less mouthy and is better around his food. I’m slowly gaining confidence in getting him to listen to me. He got out the other day and spent time with the rest of the horses. They’ve accepted him finally.

This evening I worked with Beau in the round pen again but this time mom added a tarp. Beau was very afraid of it but I worked and worked and worked with him on it and this video is of him towards the end of todays learning session. He ended up doing so great! He also got all 4 feet cleaned.

I’m back!! I missed him but not his biting. However, he’s been much better this weekend about not biting me. We worked with the ScArY flag, lunging, picking his feet, standing and personal space. I spent a long time getting all his dreadlocks out. He looks so much better!

Money goes towards the cost of caring for the horses before they are picked up by the trainers and prizes for the trainers during the competition.

Beau has been learning a lot the last couple of days. He sure can be a naughty boy though. He had to learn some patience this weekend because EVERY time the other horses weren’t around he’d go bonkers. It worked and he was definitely more tame today. Mom and I found some very sensitive spots on him. I’m going to miss him this week. Mom and dad will be working with him while I’m away at camp.

Today was more eventful. He got to run around with the big horses in the big field completely against my will 😱 it was interesting getting him back into the barn and sad to see how the other male horse (Jake) treated him. Baby Beau is ok though and did end up going back out and into the round pen. Did a few circles and got to munch on the grass. Mom tortured him with the scarecrow too and he didn’t like it much.

Day 3: He’s a biter!!!
He’s a super curious little boy and I just love him to pieces!
He does great with hands all over: body and legs, still kinda Meh with his face. I can lead him around but he doesn’t listen, yet. He wants to get into everything! Mom said it’s like having a 4-legged Nash around (my toddler cousin 🤣) He spent a short amount of time tied and did ok. I introduced the flag and pool noodle and he did ok. He will also pick up all 4 feet!

I (Emily) would like the Facebook world to help with name ideas for this little guy. I haven’t found one I like yet. The first 3 words that come to mind to describe him are: Trickster, fugly and brat. 😂
Mom would add busted to the list as well, but I don’t like the name Buster much. I also don’t care for Loki or any other trickster words we’ve been able to find.

He’s home! He’s so tiny! Still working on a name. He did end up with a boo boo. Some of it might be old but made it worse.
