naturesvangogh Our Panthers prove Chameleons are truly Nature’s Van Gogh. (Focus: Continuing to produce healthy Blue/Blurple Panthers and f1s.

We also have Wild Phenotype Ambanja, Rainbow, and RBBB Ambilobe projects going.)

The final three backgrounds are going up, now to attach the sides and make sure it’s all completely water sealed.

Had to put another coat over the silicon after all 12 coats deep all together now 😅 #

Figuring out how I’m going to fill in the gaps with some good ol h**p rope

To ensure your plants get off to a healthy start don’t forget to rinse until the water is clear.

When you add 10 + coats of drylock you lose all of the details from the carving. To avoid everything looking like a blob, dry brushing techniques as well as water mixed with black acrylic non toxic paint are used to highlight the features that would be getting sunlight as well as the shadows of the rocks crevices.

31/12/2024

My goal has been to have the backgrounds 100 percent complete today (adjusted goal a few times since the original whole project done by Halloween) that way I can bring in the new year installing the bulkheads/drain system/pump, adding soil/planting, and re running all the misting tubing, as well as the automated self filling R/O reservoirs. So close!! Then I can tie it all off by adding the stained wood panels to cover the bottom section of the habitats and wrap h**p rope all along the gaps/doors.

31/12/2024

I wanted to add an extra layer of silicone to ensure no water drips through to protect all the hard work.

31/12/2024

The “last” coat was too dark, silver lining is the panels for the top level of habitats get an extra coat. I added liquid rubber to the joints where the foam extends over the pond liner just to ensure there is no chance of any tiny holes water can escape. This stuff is paintable so now the shininess is hidden and will look more natural when it dries. Next step dry brush the highlights and details then take the panels outside and give a few really good rinses before silicone and foaming them in place.

After the highlights and shadows are added it’s time to add the bulkheads, run the hose and finally fill these with soil and get them planted! 🥳

18/12/2024

This side of the rack is complete and ready for the bulkheads. Now to do the final coat on the last 3 backgrounds before dry brushing. Then I can seal the bottoms where the fake rock backgrounds meet the pond liner for extra protection.

Backgrounds for the last 3 Habitats!

17/12/2024

An extra layer of pond foam and silicon + soil because I got paranoid. Definitely not going to leak! 💪

16/12/2024

Who else is ready to see these babies full of plants and chameleons!?

16/12/2024

So grateful to be blessed with the opportunity to do what I love and share this experience with my son!

15/12/2024

This will be used as backgrounds for the top level of XL habitats

14/12/2024

Getting so close!

13/12/2024

Sealing the backgrounds into the soil boxes.

13/12/2024

Drilling the holes so that we can gravity feed the habitats drainage down to the crawlspace into a pump outside.
