Learn more about the fascinating world of mushrooms and fungi and meet other nature enthusiasts! Reserve your spot and/or grow kits at UpstreamPgh.org

We will be collaborating with Upstream Pgh for a guided exploration through Fern Hollow in Frick Park, after which we’ll reconvene to identify and discuss what we found.

Participants can choose to stick with the group for the hike (roughly 1 mile) or wander on their own path and bring their finds back to the group for identification and discussion.

Participants also have the option to reserve a home mushroom cultivation kit for $15. Pay upon pick up at the end of the event and choose between blue oyster and lions mane mushroom varieties.

The start and end point for this event will be the Biddle Avenue Parking Area of Frick Park, located at the intersection of Biddle Ave. & South Braddock Ave. By bus, this stop can be accessed on the 61A or 61B.

Ahh! Such a fun start to fall mushroom hike series! We found Chickens, we found Beech, we found Oysters and all the fun surprises in between❤️ Thank you all that came, without your interest I can not do what I do. I spy Chicken of The Woods, and mushrooms hikes are back TOMMOROW! So snag up a ticket before they are all out. Tickets at 3riversoutdoor.com, link to thier site in bio . This year, we’re dedicating more time to exploring our local woods to find and identifying early late summer and early fall mushroom varieties.

Following the hike, we’ll return to 3ROC where we’ll learn about cultivating our own take home mini mushroom farms! Each participant will receive instructions for care and cultivation & can choose between a variety of mushroom types.

We offer cultivated and locally foraged goods. Free delivery on 5lbs minimums. You can also swing by the farm, or one of our nearby markets.

Individual, non wholesale, orders can be pick up at farm or pre-order for the market at retail price.

It’s a hot one today! So we have a limited stock here at Downtown Farmers Market in market square. We will be here till 2pm, but planning to sell out a bit before so the mushrooms can beat the heat :) make sure to make us your first stop ❤️🔥🥵 and please stay hydrated.

Hang out with us and the fine folks at for an evening of foraging and mushroom cultivation!

Choose between just a mushroom hike, or mushroom hike + workshop! Tickets available on Eventbrite (Mushroom Walk and DIY Log Innoculations with Steel City Spore) , also link under Events on my website as well! Link in the bio.

Throughout the workshop, attendees will gain hands-on experience in selecting and preparing logs, inoculating them with shiitake mushroom spawn, and properly caring for their mushroom logs to encourage healthy growth.

They’ll also learn about the ideal environmental conditions for mushroom cultivation and how to troubleshoot common challenges that may arise.

By the end of the workshop, participants can expect to leave with a deeper understanding of fungal biology, practical skills in mushroom cultivation, and a sense of empowerment to continue their mushroom-growing journey at home.

Additionally, they’ll be able to enjoy the many health benefits associated with shiitake mushrooms, such as immune system support, cardiovascular health, and potential anti-inflammatory properties, making this workshop not only educational but also a delicious investment in their well-being.

Was hoping to spot some Pheasant Back which is normally cropping up in this area of Frick during this time! Hoping if the conditions stay as good as they’ve been they will pop up for us on the next one!
