What Iv seen quite a bit of lately, coming from certain quarters in the dog training industry, is we should no longer be regarding or referring to ourselves as dog owners.

Apparently the term “dog owner” is oppressive.
It’s a reflection on how crazy and messed up society has become.

Here’s how I see it, if you go out and pay money for a dog, wether it’s a puppy or a shelter dog. That dog/puppy is bought and payed for.
You own it.
You own it’s behaviour every minute of everyday.

You own it’s behaviour towards every dog, person and any other animal it will come in contact with throughout the duration of its life.

You also own the physical and mental welfare of that dog for the duration of its life.

You own the responsibility to meet that dogs needs.

You own the responsibility to keep it safe and healthy.

You own the responsibility to teach and train that dog to ensure it’s provided with the best life possible.

Being a “dog owner” comes with a lot of responsibility.

If your providing for and taking responsibility for your dog, your a “dog owner”.
