Ella's Blind Cat Sanctuary Ella’s Blind Cat Sanctuary is a safe haven for blind strays The streets are not safe for blind cats and they cannot survive as strays. Europe/U.K.

Ella’s Blind Cat Sanctuary is their hope of survival in Cyprus. We also take in other rescues needing help on temporary basis and also rehome into safe and loving homes. Those not adopted will always have a home at the sanctuary. We depend solely on people’s donations which cover vet, food and litter and upkeep of shelter. Without people’s contributions we cannot exist. All cats ready for adoption

are vaccinated, treated for fleas, worms and ear mites and tested for FIV/FELV, Corona, Parvo and Giardia. Adoptions, approximate travel day is 3 weeks after rabies vaccine. All are microchipped. Costs of flights are for the adopter since we do not charge an adoption fee, but we can assist with fundraising if needed. Adoptions within Cyprus will have a small adoption fee, helping to support the next rescue.

Female: Spayed & microchipped
Arrived at Ella's: 21 /04 /2019

MeMe was abandoned by her mum along with
her brother when she was a day old, sadly her brother didn't make it.
She was hand reared for a while, and then was placed with a 'feeding' mum cat who only had one kitten. Whilst she was being fostered so she could be with the mother cat, she wasn't handle by the people looking after, and as a consequence is a very timid, shy girl.
She now loves to be stroked, and will roll over for a fuss, but isn't quite brave enough to let you pick her up.
We're sure beautiful MeMe will become a wonderful companion, but needs a special home where someone can give her some proper time and attention. If you're that perfect person, please get in touch 🐾

Lia and Bella went to their forever home in the UK in November 2021. These beautiful sisters obviously know where all the good warm spots are 😸🐾

Our second "Thank You" of the day goes to Richard and Lorraine. They came to visit the sanctuary today whilst over here visiting the Island. They brought some treats for the cats, spent time giving them some love and cuddles, and made a donation to the sanctuary too.
It was lovely to meet you both. We wish you lots of luck with your eventual move over to Cyprus, and hopefully we'll see you again in the future 🐾

Thank you to Marianna Philippidou for the kind donation of the blankets and treats for the cats and kittens 😻
Marianna is a volunteer for Sirius Dog Sanctuary in Limassol. She fostered Thea until space became available for her at the sanctuary, and has also kindly paid for Thea to have her eye surgery 🐾

Name: Elvis
DOB: 02 July 2023
Age: 1 year 6 months
Male: Neutered & microchipped
Arrived at Ella's: June 2024

Elvis longs for human contact. He loves having a good brush, having a fuss and a cuddle, and will be the most adoring lap cat for the lucky person who gives him a forever home.
Elvis was born blind. Initially he was being brought up in a container with some other cats and really wasn't coping well.
He has adapted to life in the sanctuary, has settled in beautifully, and would absolutely thrive in a home if his own.
If you can offer this gorgeous black house panther his forever home, please get in touch 🐾

❄️❄️ Not quite the same white stuff as Agia Napa ❄️❄️

Braveheart and Tina were rescued from the Dome hotel in Agia Napa by Charlotte who fell in love with them whilst here on holiday.
They flew to the UK just before Christmas. Here they are enjoying their first time seeing snow from the comfort and warmth of forever home 🐾

Name: Maya
DOB: 06 / 09 / 2021
Age: 3 years 4 months
Female: Spayed & microchipped
Arrived at Ella's: Jan 2022

Maya is a calm, loving girl. A little shy at first, but once you gain her trust she's very much a lap cat.
She's totally fine with other cats, but having been attacked by a dog as kitten, we do not want to re-home her in a house with dogs as pets.
Maya arrived at the sanctuary at the start of 2022 when she had recovered enough from her attack to leave the veterinary clinic. She has lost sight in one eye and part of her mouth is slightly disfigured (as you can see in the pictures).
If you can give this stunning girl a lap to curl up on, please get in touch 🐾

If your new year's resolution was to volunteer somewhere, to make a difference and do something rewarding, or just to get out and meet new people.... Please consider becoming a volunteer at Ella's blind cat sanctuary.
We already have some amazing people who volunteer, but there's always a need for more help. If you can help with the cleaning, if you are a whizz with accounts or admin, if you're a trades person who can help with building/plumbing/electrics etc, or even if it's just coming and spending time with the cats to help socialise them - if you can spare the time, it will be very much appreciated.
If this sounds like something you'd like to get involved in, please get in touch 🐾

Willow has come to the sanctuary as a temporary boarder so she can finish her treatment before going back to her foster carer.
She will need to undergo surgery to have her eye removed when she is old enough, but she also needs a forever home.
If you're interested in adopting Willow, please get in touch and we will put you in contact with her sponsor 🐾

Name: Iris
DOB: 11 / 9 / 2021
Age: 3 years 3 months
Female: Spayed & microchipped
Arrived at Ella's: March 2022

This gorgeous girl is Iris.
She is a sweet, loving girl who just loves people and is always up for a cuddle. She gets on well with all the other cats, and enjoys to hide and thinks we cannot see her as she cannot see us. She likes getting on people's shoulders and backs, and therefore would not be suitable for a home with young children, but would be fine with teenage children.

Iris was found totally blind as a kitten and taken to a vets on the island to be put to sleep. Instead of putting her to sleep, the Vet took care of her - removed her eyes, neutered her, checked she was clear of FIV/FIP and kept her there for a few months while a space became available at the sanctuary.

If you can offer Iris her forever home, please get in touch 🐾

We'd just like to take this opportunity to say a massive THANK you for all of your support in 2024. Whether you have adopted a cat from us, sponsored a cat, made donations of money, food, cat treats cleaning products etc, or even just shared our posts - your continued support is so very much appreciated and never taken for granted.
Here's to 2025 and finding forever homes for many more cats 🐾

This is why ....
Updates like these are exactly what makes all the heartaches worthwhile.
Phoebe (named Misha when she was in the sanctuary) was adopted in August 2021. As you can see, she and her "roomie" Chandler are totally bonded 🥰
The last picture on the post is what Phoebe looked like when she was initially rescued.... Amazing what love and kindness can do 🐾

Look at this lovely video of Aria playing 🥰
After everything this beautiful girl has lived through, it's so heartwarming to see her playing like a kitten.
Aria (a name which means survivor) was rescued from an industrial estate. She was obviously blind, had survived numerous pregnancies, and still provided for her kittens.
She has now been spayed and has recovered beautifully from her eye surgery.
She is currently in foster care, and is due to come to the sanctuary in January. After having been in a home for a while now, we hope coming to the sanctuary won't set back her recovery, therefore we would love to find her forever home sooner rather than later.
She is such a gentle, loving girl. If you'd like to offer Aria a home to enjoy her life, please get in touch 🐾

Happy Boxing Day to you all, we hope you had a lovely Christmas time. Whether you had a full house of family and friends or had a quiet day spent alone - we hope it brought you much peace and happiness.
As Boxing Day is a cat's favourite 😜 we thought it would be nice to see some of your cats "If I fits, I sits" pictures 🎄
