Ella's Blind Cat Sanctuary Ella’s Blind Cat Sanctuary is a safe haven for blind strays The streets are not safe for blind cats and they cannot survive as strays. Europe/U.K.
(8)

Ella’s Blind Cat Sanctuary is their hope of survival in Cyprus. We also take in other rescues needing help on temporary basis and also rehome into safe and loving homes. Those not adopted will always have a home at the sanctuary. We depend solely on people’s donations which cover vet, food and litter and upkeep of shelter. Without people’s contributions we cannot exist. All cats ready for adoption

are vaccinated, treated for fleas, worms and ear mites and tested for FIV/FELV, Corona, Parvo and Giardia. Adoptions, approximate travel day is 3 weeks after rabies vaccine. All are microchipped. Costs of flights are for the adopter since we do not charge an adoption fee, but we can assist with fundraising if needed. Adoptions within Cyprus will have a small adoption fee, helping to support the next rescue.

REINTRODUCING CHLOE

This beautiful girl is Chloe 😺
She was a boarder at Pampered Paws when she was about 1 year old (the cattery part of the Sanctuary), but her owner never returned to collect her.
She has been at the sanctuary for nearly 5 years now without any interest in rehoming her.
At first she was understandably very shy and confused, but she has turned into a beautiful girl who loves a fuss and curling up on a lap for a cuddle.
She is ok with older children and has shared a room with other cats, so would be fine with a family who already have cats, but not dogs.
If you can give Chloe a forever home, please get in touch, she so deserves a home to call her own again after everything she's been through 🐾

REINTRODUCING CHRISTOPHER & GEORGE

Christopher and George have both been at the sanctuary for over 3 years now, and can often be found together.

Christopher was found in the street struggling to find food by a lady who took him to the vets. He was also suffering from cat flu. He came to the sanctuary once he was better and had had his eyes removed about 3.5 years ago.
He is totally adorable and such a gentle soul.

Georgie came to us off the streets about 3 years ago as a kitten in desperate need of eye surgery. He had been dumped on a colony of cats a fellow rescuer fed, and he asked for help as it was winter, raining and the kitten didn't know how to find shelter or food.
He is a very loving, social boy with both people and other cats alike, this love bug is totally happy cuddling.

We would love to find these gorgeous boys a home together, but would be happy to consider rehoming them separately. If you are interested in adopting either or both of them, please get in touch 🐾

We have some cats that have been at the sanctuary for at least a couple of years each (if not longer), and we desperately want to find them their forever homes.
Over the next few weeks, we shall give you a little biography and be reintroducing you to each of them.
If you can give one (or 2) of these beautiful souls a home, please get in touch 💕

You may remember back in July, us telling you about our biggest 'holiday rescue '.
Denise and her daughters rescued 3 adult cats staying at their villa, one of which had recently given birth to 5 kittens.
The 3 adults flew back to the UK on Sunday - here are Hetty, Dory and Thena getting used to their new surroundings ☺️
The kittens are still at the sanctuary and will join them in the UK when they're old enough for their passports 🐾

After a horrible 12 delay, Nemo finally made it back to the UK and his new forever family home 😀
He handled the journey like a star and has settled into his new life straight away.
There's a video of him in the comments playing and generally loving life 🐾

We've been holding a few auctions on the Ella's blind cat sanctuary fundraising page this week.
We'd like to thank Mr Cod Fish and Chip shop and St Georgios boat trips for their donations, helping to raise €81 for the sanctuary.
There will be more auctions this coming week - vouchers for Sizzlers, The Moody Cow and a reflexology session, so check out our fundraising page to bag yourself a bargain 🐾

Kakos was brought to the sanctuary as a boarder to wait until he was old enough to fly to Poland.
The couple adopting him are struggling to find a 'flight parent' to es**rt him to Poland, but can't afford the flight otherwise and are considering putting him up for adoption.
Kakos loves a good fuss and playing, and loves children. Here he is enjoying a cuddle with one of our volunteers Grandson's - Jenson, who visited today and was such a big help 😊
If you can es**rt this wee man to Poland, or if you could give him a loving home, please get in touch 🐾

More wonderful news for the weekend....
Joanne, Phil and their son Alex are over in Cyprus on holiday and asked if they could come to the sanctuary for a visit. Their hearts were stolen by our mischievous Nemo and they have decided to adopt him 😀
So very happy for them all 🐾

Some wonderful news for the weekend...
Picola has been reserved 😃
She will be staying at the sanctuary for a while yet until her new owners move into and get settled in their new home, but will eventually be flying on to pastures new 🐾

We've received these beautiful photos of Flo and Lexie this week. These beautiful girls flew to their forever home in June. Flo is a Moma's girl and loves to have contact to fall asleep. Lexie is a Papa's girl and follows Vincenzo everywhere.
Just seeing them snuggled together though is totally heartwarming 🥰

Yesterday we had a visit from a lovely couple - Kathryn and Nick who are in Cyprus on holiday. They spent time in the garden with the cats and Lilly absolutely loved the attention 🐱
Thank you to both of them for coming to see us, and for the cat food and treats they brought too.
We hope they enjoy the rest of their holiday 🏖️🌞

National Kitten Day is celebrated on July 10th every year.
It's a day to raise awareness about abandoned kittens in need of loving homes and, hence, their adoption, supporting shelters and rescues, and, most importantly, showering our beloved feline companions with extra love and attention.
We all love a little bundle of feline fluff, but we also need to press the issue of getting kittens neutered/spayed when old enough, so that kittens being abandoned becomes a thing of the past 🐾

Misty was saved from the streets by a fellow rescuer. She came to the sanctuary because she is FIV+, and later had to have surgery on her ears due to cancer. Sadly we have just had it confirmed that her cancer has spread, and she is now receiving palliative care.
She is completely bonded with Bella, a fellow FIV+ cat. Bella has a disease where her eye lashes turn inwards and surgery to correct this wasn't very successful. Misty often washes Bella's eyes for her and vice versa.
We don't know how long Misty has, but we do know Bella is going to be heartbroken, as will we be 😿

We have taken on a massive amount of rescues over the last few weeks, and sadly we just can't take on anymore at this moment in time.
This morning, we had yet another phone call asking us to take on a kitten, and when we explained that we are not currently in a position to be able to help, the person said they would just put the kitten back out on the streets.
This kind of response is more heartbreaking than us having to say no to helping, and is not going to suddenly make space become available.
Please respect that we are doing as much as is humanly possible to help, but sadly there is only so much we can do.

We often help holiday makers who fall in love with that special cat they can't leave behind, but this is possibly the biggest 'holiday rescue' we've helped with.
Denise and her daughters had 5 adult cats staying at their villa. One couldn't be caught, one sadly died whilst having surgery for a diaphragmatic hernia, the other 3 are now safe at the sanctuary. One of the 3 caught had recently given birth to 5 kittens who are also here with their mum.
The 3 adults are passport ready and will fly to the UK when a flight is available. The 5 kittens will stay until they are old enough to fly, then they will go to the UK too, where hopefully forever homes will be found for them all.
The cost for 8 passports and flights is obviously going to be a massive expense, so if you would like to donate towards their costs, or if you would like to adopt one of these 8 wonders, please contact Denise's daughter Kayla via email on [email protected].
Thank you for reading to the end 🐾

As some of you may remember, Tom raised a massive €410.00 for the sanctuary back in March when he did a sponsored event by gaming for 24 hours.
Here's Tom handing over the sponsor money to Lin (who runs the sanctuary) and Su one of our lovely volunteers.
We'd like to give another massive 'THANK YOU' to Tom for his support, and for picking Ella's as his chosen charity.
If you would like to hold an event to help raise money for the sanctuary, please get in touch 🐾

Benjamin was found in the car park at Lidl in Paralimni by Julie Hadjizacharia. He was skinny, looked shabby (see 2nd picture), his fur was full of scabs and he was totally dejected. He kept sleeping under Julie's car, so she enlisted the help of Christine Barlow and her husband to catch him. He was taken to the vets for a check up and given a clean bill of health. It's thought he was a family pet that had been abandoned.
Benjamin flew to the UK this week and is going to Java Whiskers, a cat café in Westfield White City. If you can complete this beautiful boys journey back to being a family pet, please get in touch with the cafe - link

We love it when we get updates on any of our previous residents. This is the latest update along with some stunning photos of Toffee and Gucci. They are certainly living the good life 🥰

"Hello there! It’s been a while since I sent an update … life has been wild - just like the cats 🤣 Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that both Gucci & Toffee are doing wonderfully 😻😻 they are living their best cat live and are happy, active and thriving 💜💜
Their favorite show is “bird TV” on their very own “garden channel” 🤣
