Ella's Blind Cat Sanctuary Ella’s Blind Cat Sanctuary is a safe haven for blind strays The streets are not safe for blind cats and they cannot survive as strays. Europe/U.K.

Ella’s Blind Cat Sanctuary is their hope of survival in Cyprus. We also take in other rescues needing help on temporary basis and also rehome into safe and loving homes. Those not adopted will always have a home at the sanctuary. We depend solely on people’s donations which cover vet, food and litter and upkeep of shelter. Without people’s contributions we cannot exist. All cats ready for adoption

are vaccinated, treated for fleas, worms and ear mites and tested for FIV/FELV, Corona, Parvo and Giardia. Adoptions, approximate travel day is 3 weeks after rabies vaccine. All are microchipped. Costs of flights are for the adopter since we do not charge an adoption fee, but we can assist with fundraising if needed. Adoptions within Cyprus will have a small adoption fee, helping to support the next rescue.

One of our volunteers has just returned from holiday to find a kitten has been dumped in their garden. They live by a main road, so it isn't safe living outside, and their own cat isn't accepting it, so it is currently living in their bathroom, which is far from ideal.
The kitten (a little girl), has been to the vets today and given treatment for worms, fleas and ticks, and also given her first vaccination. Other than a little ringworm, she has been given a clean bill of health.
If anyone is interested in adopting this little please get in touch 🐾

A couple of Thank You's today....

We continued to receive some wonderful donations throughout the month of August from all the kind and generous people listed below, and just wanted to say thank you.

€250 of the money received this month has paid for 3 vets bills, the rest has been put towards the land purchase.

Sometimes "Thank you" just doesn't seem enough to express how much your kindness means, but "Thank you" all again for your continued support - it's invaluable 🐾

**Second failed adoption for Nameless/Danny**

Name: Nameless / Danny
DOB: 21 Nov 2020
Age: 4 years 10 months
Male: Neutered and microchipped
Arrived at Ella's: 26 February 2021

Nameless was reserved in the middle of last year. The people adopting him were in the process of moving home and wanted to wait until the sale was completed. Unfortunately the sale fell through and after months of waiting for a new buyer, they decided it would be kinder to put Nameless back up for adoption instead of him waiting indefinitely.
Then having then made a decision not to move, they asked if they could adopt him again. But sadly due to recent health issues, this is now no longer going to be a possibility, so Nameless is back up for adoption.

Nameless has been at the sanctuary for nearly 5 years now, and the difference in his personality from arrival to now is amazing.
He was a very shy, frightened cat when he arrived at the sanctuary after having his eye surgery, but is now an amazingly confident boy, who more than proves that blind cats can still have a very full and active life. The link to a video showing this can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/aLNYLtduYeSRbAp3/

Nameless is so ready for his own forever home. He gets along with other cats, but would need a home without young children. So if you can offer this awe inspiring boy a place of your sofa, please get in touch 🐾

Today we wish Josh a fond farewell, and say Bon Voyage for the next part of his travels.
Josh has been staying with his Aunt over the summer here in Cyprus, and started volunteering 3 days a week at the sanctuary in the last week of July. He has been such a massive help, not only helping with the cats, but taking Max (our guard dog) for a walk too.
He has absolutely fallen in love with Ben and Gerry, and as you can see from the pictures - the love is mutual 😻
Josh, it has been an absolute pleasure to have your help and company for the last 6 weeks, and we wish you a safe and wonderful time in Jamaica and Canada before you head back to the UK 🐾

Dom has also been in touch to ask if there is anyone who can help.

Here's his message:

I have 7 stray kittens that i am looking after for 11 weeks now. I managed to get the mommy cats spayed. The kittens have been on an aggressive treatment for their eye infection. After 9 weeks the 5 kittens still have a problem with their eyes. I believe that they will not be getting any better. They can see but are partially blind.
Unfortunately there is no way i can keep them as i have 4 dogs already and i feed the stray cats and i only get a minimum wage so i am really struggling.

If anyone is able to help Dom, please message us here at the sanctuary and we'll put you in touch 🐾

Our second "Thank You" of the day is to George and Su from Cyprus Insight for their generous donation of €1,000.
Cyprus Insight are supporting various animal charities in Cyprus this year, and raise funds by selling Cyprus Insight merchandise at the 'meet ups' they hold. Take a look at their Facebook to find out when their next meet up is, or check out their YouTube videos to see the many hidden treasures of Cyprus.
Thank you again to them both for their support, it is so very much appreciated 🐾

A couple of "Thank You's" today.
Our first Thank you is to Tina Akers. Tina has very kindly donated some blankets for the cats and a suitcase to the sanctuary.
Tina often makes donations to the sanctuary, and we are very grateful for her continued support 🐾

Anna reached out to us for help with a cat she has rescued.... As you're aware, due to our current circumstances, we aren't taking in anymore rescues, but we're always more than happy to share a post for people.

This poor soul was found by Anna on the 4th of July. He had been hit by a car and left for dead at the side of the road. She rushed him to the emergency vet where he received treatment, got neutered and was fed through a tube for weeks until his mouth stabilised. Unfortunately, the direct hit on his head resulted in one of his eyes completely destroyed and the other losing full sight. He is now completely blind and of course unable to return to the street.
If you can help Anna by offering this gorgeous boy a home, please message us and we'll put you in contact with Anna
