A Cob and a Connie Loving life, natives, hunting, PSG and Working Equitation!! I’ve had George since he was 3 and we’ve learnt through the dressage levels together. I.

Introducing the starts of the show...

Day Dreamer aka George / Gorgeous George / Georgeous / Prix St Georgeous

George is a 14 yrs old, 15.1hh full Connemara by Dunlewey Seamus. He’s always been a super sensitive, slow maturing pony and we’ve needed some help with his spookiness along the way! How we’ve ever got to where we are now I’ll never quite believe! George and I managed to ride at PSG fo

r the first time in 2020 and it was amazing! We now have a few points at this level and hope to get to Inter 1 if we can

Harlequin II aka Harley / Harley cob / cobbit / cobalob / oaf! Harley is a 10 yr 15.2hh cob of completely unknown, unregistered origin! When not clipped, he’s pretty hairy so I think there’s a lot of gypsy cob in there. He’s really my hunting cob but he’s proved to be pretty good at dancing too so he too has managed to get to PSG in 2021! What a superstar all round cob he really is. Lanargh Lucky Limerick aka Paddy / Padster

Paddy is a 2 yr old cob x Connie! A true lockdown purchase, I bought him to bring on slowly. He’s a lovely character and so far seems very willing. Looking forward to see how he develops

8 unadulterated minutes of our first one handed dressage test. Piris, changes, half pass, rein back, leg yield, all done one handed. We need more time at this. It’s most definitely a work in progress but I’m very proud of giving it a decent go in our very first season of WE 💪🏻

Paddy’s progress during his Fancy footwork poles and grids session at the weekend….

We started off quite exuberant and not really knowing where all 4 feet were!

Then he settled and started concentrating on where to put each foot…

Then he started to show off and show me what he’s really got! 😍😍

Those who know me or have followed me for a while will know that I’m a ‘you won’t know unless you try’ sort of person…

So, having ‘nailed’ 30 secs of one handed trot work at home in the school, I’ve entered a training competition on H at the weekend which involves an 8 min dressage test with changes, full and half piris, rein back, half pass and leg yield all one handed. Oh and then an obstacle phase and speed round again, all one handed.

So today I thought I’d try some of those dressage moves one handed… 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I now have an even higher level of respect for Lynne Macleod Holly Barber and Jo Green!!
This one handed malarkey is HARD!!!!

But practice makes perfect and you won’t know if you dont try 🤷🏼‍♀️ so looking forward to our first attempt this weekend 🙈👍🏻🙏🏻

Strap yourselves in…this will be a long one!

Me and the boys decided to give a new sport a try this year. So we went to our first Working Equitation competition in April and we’ve just finished competing at the National Finals this weekend.

I am so immensely proud of my boys - they take on anything I throw at them and we’ve had a pretty successful season in our first year!
At the finals this weekend, both of them have been amazing, with good dressage scores, working with me in the most technical Ease of Handling obstacle round I’ve ridden and then loving the speed round as usual. We weren’t as quick as others this time so in the weekends completion came 3rd and 4th.

But, the real crunch point was finding out where we’d come over the season and I had worked out that both of my awesome ponies had managed to finish on a total overall score of 189 over the year so that put them in equal National Reserve Champion position!!!
At that point it comes down to who had the best dressage at the finals - so Harley cob is officially the Reserve National champion at Inter A for 🤩🤩

So we partied - some harder than others, mentioning no (real) names BARFER 🤣 and then got ready for the separate cattle cutting competition today.

It started so well, both boys on different awesome teams and we were penning cows mainly sucessfully - UNTIL my saddle slipped on George as I turned and galloped after a cow and I ended up falling at speed and bit the dirt 😖

But mild concussion aside, we had already helped our team in 3 rounds and were rewarded by winning the cattle team competition!!

So both boys have a sash!!!
And in my eyes, both are Reserve National Champion at Inter A in our first season!!!

So many people to thank for their help, support and all the camaraderie of the sport so I hope you all know who you are and 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻😘😘😘

Bring on next season!!!!

When a customer needed a saddle pad sorting in a hurry, we were more than happy to help ☺️
And although it's never necessary, it really does make our day when we get lovely messages like this 👉 "Thanks for arranging the Whaddon Chase numnah for me - and so speedily. It looked great at the event I took my daughter and her horse to yesterday in Norfolk!".
Happy mum... happy daughter... happy us ❤️

Pads was a superstar at Lynne Macleod WE clinic last night! He’s gonna be mega at this. 🤩 Simple changes, sideways pole, bridge, pen, gate - no problem mum!
And so lovely to see some of the old Central gang too 🥰 thanks especially to Shirley Wright for helping me load Paddy who wasn’t keen in the dark and rain 🙈 and Anna Charlotte Cannata for filming. I think we’ve converted some of them to WE!! 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Saturday part 2….

It’s been nearly 2 months since I’ve been out with these 2 to any kind of dressage!
So we went for a pre WE nationals run out today HC at our lovely local venue.
They were both very good boys, nailing all changes and feeling fab. I truly believe the WE and break from BD has allowed them to enjoy the level of work they are at rather than be overwhelmed by it.
Thanks Lucy Freiberg for warming George up so beautifully 😁

Saturday part 1…..

I’m so proud of the Padster. We enjoyed our second morning out with hounds today, he loaded alone in the dark and didn’t have H with him for company this time.
But he loved it and behaved beautifully again. Thanks to for nannying.

So he’s back home and in the field and I’m getting the other 2 boys ready for a bit of stressage this afternoon!!

Paddy’s first time out with hounds as a 4 yr old 🤩😍🐴
He thought it was very exciting but behaved impeccably for a 4 yr old. He was expertly nannied by Harley supercob with Fiona Dunlop at the helm.

Back out with the ponies today after our holidays. Daffys first show and Paddy’s second.
It was a hot one! 🥵
But both baby ponies were exceptional with Daffy winning the intro and coming 5th out of 15 in the prelim and Paddy just beating her to 4th in the prelim!
Couldn’t ask for more of the 2 babies in this heat - and they were both so well behaved on the lorry too.
Thanks Lucy Freiberg for your help in the heat!

Introducing the stars of the show...

Thanks for following this page and my dream! This is about the journey of a weekend amateur and her ponies as we climb, some what unexpectedly, through the BD ranks attempting to reach what is the ultimate goal of riding in tails!

I am not your normal shaped dressage rider, short and a little chunky, a bit like my gorgeous cob Harley (Harlequin II). Sometimes highly strung, not dissimilar to my beautiful Connemara George (Daydreamer). But I do think represent a huge number of BD members in being passionate about my ponies and just trying to achieve the best we can.

Having hated dressage in my younger years, I’ve grown to enjoy the challenges it presents me and I now take pride in training my two conventional horses to as high a level as we can. To ensure I still keep my jumping eye in, I also hunt Harley in the winter months if the weather is kind! I started in BD at prelim, through team quest, AF’s and occasionally, Regionals. I love representing BD Central teams if we’re lucky enough to get picked. I’ve had a full time job at all times to help me fund my hobby...until now. Ive decided to take a work sabbatical as, amazingly, Ive managed to get to Advanced Medium with them both so I want to put all my efforts into riding at PSG!

Now the important part..
