We had a great week at Saratoga Spring III!
🌷Brando had lovely rounds in the Ushja 2’9 with Ariana Cyr picking up top ribbons across the entire division.

🌷BRF Grand Sonata stepped it up to the Baby Greens and earned himself some great ribbons, including 3rd in the hack, out of a very competitive group of youngsters. Excited to see him continue to develop!

🌷Kassandra Cousseillant took the reins on Brando for the weekend and laid down some of their best trips ever, including scoring an 83 to land them 3rd in the non-pro derby and 2nd in a very competitive low adult hunter hack!

Black Rock Farm had a great Westbrook Spring fling! Thank you to the village of people that helped pull this week off! Our horses all had a great time getting out in the show ring for the first time this season. Highlights include:

BRF Grand Sonata was champion in the opportunity hunters, winning 3 out of 4 of his classes. He successfully moved up, winning another class, and is ready to hit the baby greens ring! Excited for this 5 year olds development this season.

Brando had lovely consistent trips all week in the 3’ hunters, as well as top ribbons in the low adults with his owner Kassandra. Don’t forget he’s for sale!!

BRF Rockwell had his first ever outing and hit the jumper ring with great success.

Last but not least we had Bella Sutherland and her lovely pony Woodberrys Hot Cakes join us for the week. They had some great trips, making progress, and learning lots of lessons! Huge thank you to Bella for all her help behind the scenes as well!

We are ready to conquer the 2024 show season. See you next month, Saratoga!

Great news! Black Rock Farm is now offering a limited number of stalls (1-2) for full board and hunter/jumper training in Lebanon CT.

We pride ourselves on the ability to provide individualized care and we are happy to make reasonable accommodations so that all of our horses and clients have the chance to thrive.

This program is a great fit for the working amateur who wants to learn with and enjoy their horse while knowing they are receiving the best care for their animal.
Plenty of opportunities to show both locally and out of state, but not a requirement.

We are Located at The Hill at Graywall Farms, this beautiful facility is fully outfitted with wonderful amenities including:
- 12’x12’ fully matted, well-lit stalls
- Heated & insulated tack room
- Indoor wash stall with hot & cold water
- Grass and “all weather” paddocks
- 80’x160’ indoor ring with GGT footing groomed daily
- 100’x230’ outdoor ring
- Trails & spring fed pond

Care including but not limited to:
- Heavily bedded stalls
- Water buckets scrubbed daily
- High quality, detailed feed plans
- Meals provided up to 4x/day & 24/7 access to forage
- Blanket/fly sheet changes, turnout boots, hoof picking at turn out and in
- Scheduling & holding for vet & farrier

The late Bill Steinkraus’ message was dead simple really – good style is effective style. Back in 1983 he said: “I hear people saying that a rider is ‘crude but effective’ but that is a contradiction. If someone is effective, then they are subtle. They don’t make their aids obvious because they don’t have to. Brando- 6 year old 16.1 westphalen gelding
Beau has been shown extensively in the 2’6-3’ with both a pro and amateur. Auto changes, no spook, always takes too piece of the hack. Loves his people, loves to work and show. Will be the perfect junior hunter/AO horse. Ready to take his next rider from the 2’6 to the 3’3’ juniors or AOs. Does require some prep at shows.
Recently took a 14 year old to her first equitation finals (2’6) and didn’t put a foot wrong.
To borrow only, mid fives for the year, six month and show leases available as well.

BRF Sorrento- 5 year old 16.2 BWP gelding. Imported this summer, Enzo is a stunning equitation prospect. Easy to flat, 3 lovely comfortable and adjustable gaits. Shown lightly in the baby greens this season. Ready to step into the 3’ with lots of scope for more. Floats down the lines. Schooling 3’ + at home. Can easily be finished by a junior in a good program. Ready to take a junior into the eq ring now. Require some prep at shows. Mid fives to borrow. High fives to own.

BRF Grand Sonata- 4 year old AES gelding
Sonny was imported this past spring and has blown young horse expectations out of the water. Has shown at several usef shows this season in the baby greens. Big, steady, floaty mover. Definition of natural hunter. Will be a 3’6+ performance/international derby horse.
High fives to own.

BRF Rockwell- 5 year old 16.3 KWPN gelding
Imported about a year ago, Norman has had a very slow start. Extremely natural hunter. LOVES to jump, but not hot to the jumps. Easy to course. Natural changes that are coming along in course. Very green still, but very willing. Has no usef record yet, will start showing this winter. Mid fives to own.

New dreamboat available!

Meet Clint! A sweet as can be 16 hand, 14 year old unraced TB gelding. Fantastic ground manners. Easy for vet, farrier, bathing and clipping.

Under saddle, Clint has 3 lovely gaits, a flying change (that needs some polishing), and enjoys jumping.
He can forward over fences and quick on his feet while jumping and does require an educated rider. Not for a beginner (although he’s happy to carry a kid around leadline style). He is most comfortable 2’6 and below.

Clint enjoys the warmer weather and a more relaxed lifestyle. He would make a lovey lower level dressage or jumping mount. Does best in a program and with a soft and forgiving rider.

Requires minimal maintenance.
No lesson programs, no trials.
