Bart 🐱
Bart is currently available for adoption!
He is FIV+ and has an eye ulcer that does not affect him in the slightest.
He is not a mess maker and it’s always the first cat to make friends with the new scared cats! He is- brave, friendly, generous, fluffy, cuddly and observant!
His likes- every other cat, clean warm laundry 😴, treats, your lap, sitting up on a high spot to watch over his buddies, his best friend- Blu 🥰 being carried around
His dislikes-… he likes everyone and everything!
Bart does not require any special medications or special food.

HUGE thank you to Cindy- our volunteer horse companion that devotes her free time to grooming and spending quality time with our sanctuary horses! Since they are sanctioned and not available for adoption, they simply don’t receive as much enrichment because we are always looking for the next dog to save off of death row and devoting our time to time sensitive behavioral issues on the dog side of things! Having Cindy around to groom and talk to them has been such a blessing and makes them feel so much more comfortable in their fur, especially with the seasons changing! All Huck wants is someone to take him for a ride or two here and there! In his enrichment routine we often include walking out to Conway’s truck and just letting him snuggle up on the center console because he misses riding so much!

ANOTHER KERMIT UPDATE! 🐸❤️🐸
FOR CONTEXT-
I specifically let the foster know that we encouraged “ignoring him” and refraining from too much engagement until he was ready because of his independent and easily overstimulated tendencies! She was not ignoring him just to ignore him!
From his fosters-
“At home last night it was just he and I in the basement and I set his crate up and left the door open. I just let him walk around and explore the basement and walk in and out of his crate. After a few minutes I just sat in the floor and got on my phone and ignored him and he came and laid beside me.. this morning he did well going out
I think we're making progress! I love him so much ❤️”

🐸 KERMIT UPDATE! 🐸
We waved goodbye to our Kermy-Worm today as he rode off to his new foster’s home! we are so proud of how far he has come and so thankful that he now gets to experience home life THE RIGHT WAY! Did we mention she’s a vet tech? What better person to keep an eye on and work with our grumpy frog 🐸 than someone who works with grumpy dogs all day long! thank you so much Megan and best of luck to you Kermit!

Kermit’s body/touch sensitivity is at an all time low. He is comfortable with us giving him pets all over and no longer gets stiff and uneasy, wondering “what is this human going to do to me?”. We are so proud of you And the progress you’ve made Kermit! Humans are friends, not food!

You were tortured, neglected and then abandoned after 8 years. No wonder you were so confused and protective of yourself when you finally got to us, we would be too. 6 months ago he wouldn’t even let Conway in his stall. Lunging and growling and snapping, full teeth, the whole shabang. One small step at a time he has learned to trust and even love us. Just goes to show how far you can get with a little bit of patience and a whole lot of routine. Bailey may not be currently available for adoption because of his needs. He may never become available for adoption or even rescue. But he is welcome here into his old age and then some where he is safe, happy and as funky as he’d like to be. We love you Bailey. 🍻 and we’re SO proud of how far you’ve come. ❤️

❄️ IT’S FINALLY SWEATER WEATHER!!! ❄️
Did you know that donated clothes, blankets, pillow cases, and almost any fabric clothing item can be a blessing to homeless animals? We can’t count how many times We’ve wrapped a dog up in an old sweater or shirt knowing they feel more at home having a clothing item with them in their kennel! If you are thinking of donating old winter clothes when you get new ones this season, consider donating them to your local shelter or rescue!

He's doing great! We got the roommate/food thing figured out! He's SUCH a good boy. I fell on my birthday, broke my foot and knocked myself out while I was walking him, and he just stayed with me. I love him so much

Adoption update on Faye (now Phoebe) incoming!
Hi Conway, we just wanted to share a one month Phoebe update with you 😃

She’s taking so well to training! She knows sit, wait, and come now, and we’re working on other stuff too.

She’s gotten to meet my parents’ two dogs and now has two new best friends! 🐕🐕‍🦺

She’s gone on outings to Enterprise South Nature Park, Lowe’s, Petco, and Bed Bath and Beyond and behaved amazingly on all those trips. She gets lots of compliments for being so pretty and well-behaved 💖

We got her DNA test back and she’s about half pittie/staffie and half everything else, which is about what we guessed. Husky was surprising to see though, given how easily she gets cold 😂

Today we took her to Play Wash Pint for the first time and we had a blast! We didn’t dress her up for Halloween, but others got the memo 🎃

She’s really coming into her personality now, she’s kind of sassy! She loves to steal my spot on the couch when I get up, and she wags her whole butt when I come home from work. 🥰

Thank you so much for taking care of this sweet girl and bringing her into our lives, and thank you for all the work you and the rest of the folks at the ranch do to take care of dogs in the community and find homes for them. 💕 pictures incoming!

Dear Sage (now Penny) was returned safely and happily when her initial adopters let us know that they were a bit in over their heads with this puppy! We sure did appreciate their honesty and how much they so wanted the best for her, luckily we were able to foster her until her fur-real furever family came to fur-real adopt her! After fending for herself and being the only one of her litter that survived a hoarding case here in Bradley county, Penny made it clear that no matter where she goes, she is just happy to participate and meet new people! We are eternally grateful to Kallie, our senior Shar-pei who immediately took her in as her own and helped us socialize her to be even more prepared to meet her new siblings! Happy gotcha day Penny!

Some people think dogs know what has been decided for them. Adopted, transport, return, etc. We are convinced that Uriel (Urie), one of our longest residents, knows deep down in his heart that he is about to go home with THE coolest people EVER 😎. Here at The Ranch our senses are heightened and fine tuned to pick up even the slightest behaviors from our dogs, but funny enough on our radar today we picked up Urie acting more… at peace than usual. Like he knows something we might not even know. Maybe he knows his story is finally headed in the direction he has worked so hard to turn it towards. Only time will tell, but tomorrow he gets the opportunity of a lifetime it seems for our group of misfits, labeled unwanted and unadoptable by others. QUICK ADOPTION UPDATE ON SWEET PETE!

“He’s coming to work with me this afternoon and everyone here adores him too! He is starting to relax a bit and will stay sleeping when I move around the house which is nice because before he used to jump up whenever I moved.”
We are THRILLED to hear how well Petey is doing and are so grateful to Alicia for going the extra mile for this special senior. We truly believe he has found his forever! ♥️

Conway
This gentle giant is a 95 lb Pyrenees Lab mix. He was rescued from a backyard breeding situation in Lynchburg, TN where he was neglected and abused. His old owners threatened to shoot him if someone couldn’t take him, here at the rescue ranch he has experienced so many firsts with the people who saved him. Like trying peanut butter, and even walking on a leash! He is a natural at everything he puts his mind to and his sweet and calm temperament remind us of a trained service dog even though he’s not been to one class! We predict that he may have a hard time trusting other male dogs at first considering the survival type lifestyle that he had previously, but he frequently spends his time grooming and protecting his girly friend, Onyx who was rescued along with him. Conway has a bright and wise soul behind his eyes although he is only 3. And we can’t forget about his star sniffing skills! This guy has more horsepower in that adorable nose than our trucks! He can sniff out a snack from miles away which keeps him occupied on quiet days.
Onyx is available for adoption separately as they do just fine apart.
Conway is ready to find his forever family and is so excited to meet you!

SWEET PETE HAS BEEN ADOPTED! 😀❤️
Huge thank you to Alicia for being THE PERFECT adopter! We couldn’t be more sure that this is his furever! Vets suspected that Pete was a bait dog due to the astronomical amount of scar tissue on his behind. His journey from emaciated to perfect health was a hard one for him and his fosters but the destination was SO worth it! He still has a long way to go, but with a new mom this awesome we’re sure to get updates! Happy life Petey!

Meatball
This big ball of bulldog love is ready to plow right into your couch (and your heart). Meatball loves to flop around in the water and bask in the morning sun, he sticks to his routine and struts his stuff on the way out the door with more personality than you’ve seen in most people! He found himself in a new exciting place when his owner needed a dog sitter while going out of town but he loved watching the pigs and splashing in the puddles at the ranch so much he couldn’t be convinced to leave! He loves everybody but does enjoy leaning on and hugging his pals so he would do best in a home that doesn’t have small children or older family members. Meaty is just an all around happy guy that is searching for his forever. A good balance between quiet couch potato-ing and long walks with a harness and some guidance (or anything to splash around in) is all you need to keep this meatball happy! Meatball is prey driven, which means that small dogs, cats and other pets wouldn’t be the best family fit for him, he also gets defensive around livestock so horses and cows are a no go!

What a great day here at the ranch, Vikas, our 14 year old Pyrenees has officially gone from rags to riches as he left the ranch in style with his new family. We are absolutely smitten with Rachel and her family and are so grateful that such awesome people would take such an interest in our old soul. Don’t tell anybody we told you this but Conway was definitely crying happy tears as he rode away! 💙

Meet Faye 🧚‍♀️❤️ a two year old hound mix that loves to flop around between your feet! Faye has had a tragic time in her two short years on Earth. She has been all over neglected in so many ways that it can be difficult for her to put her trust in people at first, but slowly with a little reassurance (and some treats of course) she opens up and starts to share her radiant personality with others. Faye enjoys playing with other dogs of all kinds and tagging along on adventures with her favorite people, she stays close and is very tentative to you and interested in what you are up to! Faye would do best in a home with other dogs to keep her company but would also do great as an only pet, she doesn’t mind cats or kids in the slightest! Discovering horses recently, we’ve found that larger animals intimidate her and make her feel very defensive, so a home without horses or cows or a home where she can be separated from them and not roam with them would be ideal! Faye has a lot of life left to live and deserves the world, someone to love her unconditionally as she loves others would help make up for her trialing journey as a young pup! 🧚‍♀️

Kallie is a 6 year old, large boxer/Shar Pei mix that is desperate for a family to love. She loves the company of other dogs but unfortunately cannot be left alone with them because things from her unfortunate past trigger a fight or flight response towards other dogs. She is absolutely amazing with all people and has great manners, keeping “4 paws on the floor” and sitting patiently for snacks! Because of her mature demeanor, we think Kallie would do best in a home that is mildly active. She loves to roll around and lay out on the couch but also enjoys walks with her favorite people! Because of her past, we think that she would do best in a home with older kids or no kids.

URIEL (URIE)
Urie is a 4 year old large shepherd/Pyrenees mix who, as a puppy with his siblings, was almost completely feral and human contact was foreign to him. But after his rescue, years of therapy and a close and loving relationship with his foster mom, he is ready to kiss his siblings goodbye and meet his own forever family! Kind and gentle are understated words when describing Urie, as his favorite past times include placing his chin in the palm of your hands and giving you lots of kisses! He is a very curious fellow and is often found following his people around to find out more about what these strange humans are doing! Growing up around so many fur-siblings has made Urie used to having buddies to keep him company but also means that he is slow to trust outside animals. So while we think a home with other pets would be great to keep him occupied, slow introductions are recommended. His life goal is to find the perfect couch to set up shop at, is yours available?
