Storm is here because she was a bit out of control. She is now half way through her program. She is doing great and it’s fair to say she is having a blast.

🧡 Board & Train with Autumn Canine is about fulfillment, clarity in communication and reliable obedience.

❌ We don’t put dogs on place for hours on end. We don’t do short, meaningless sessions where dogs work for their food.

🐶 Jatz has human and dog aggression.

😳 Many trainers are so eager to address the behavioural issues that clients seek help with.

👀 They focus on “obedience” and engagement.

🍽️ If the dog doesn’t opt-in, they often recommend using their food for training and depriving the dog of the world around them—people, other dogs—anything, really.

☹️ They discuss play, but what they actually mean is a brief five-minute meaningless interaction.

❗️ No, simply playing with your dog doesn’t resolve any of these issues! Even so that’s exactly what Jatz and her owner have been doing.

💡 What we seek here at Autumn Canine is a healthy relationship before we tackle the problem, at least in most cases.

⚠️ We need a level of authority from the owner and compliance from the dog—real obedience, not the kind that disappears the moment the treats run out.

🧡 And with Jatz we are very one step away from getting that!

🧡 Making sure her cup is full and she is enjoying herself is a big part of our program.

💦 She loves the water and while here she gets the chance to go swim daily.

🏋🏻‍♂️ She loves to run and pull. So we have her the chance to try and - look at her go.

RECALL - MY DOG’S FREEDOM STOPS WHERE IT IMPEDES ON OTHERS! 🧡 Proofing your recall around competing reinforcers (🥩🐶🐰🦘🏃🏼‍♂️🚴🏽)! This is what makes it a reliable recall. 🧠 Setting it up so that you can create the outcome you are after and taking it into the real world. 🤯 The amount of dogs we are encountering off-leash that have nothing remotely resembling a recall is insane. 🎤 The embarrassing scream from a distance “It’s ok he/she is friendly.” - a statement that people have no control over their dogs. ⚠️ Teaching a solid recall doesn’t need to be an endless amount of engagement sessions, or a dog only having eyes for you and ignoring the environment. ❗️The reason I teach recall is so that dogs can enjoy life, move freely and NOT harass others. 📬 If you need help with your dog’s recall. 🧡 Fraser’s Recall We tested Fraser’s recall on Monday. And you get to see him today - 3 days later. We rarely got the chance to recall him. He tends to stick around a lot, stops when too far ahead or comes back on his own accord. But the few reps we did made sense to him. They provided the clarity to him what COME means. Trainers tend to keep repeating the phrase “it takes 100’s of reps”. Don’t be fooled. When understanding how dogs learn and how to teach correctly - things happen a lot quicker. He will be back for his Board & Train in a few weeks and we going to solidify his recall around competing motivators 🐰🐶🦜🦘. 📬 Get in touch when you would like to get a reliable recall for your dog. 💫 Start living your best life together!
