The incredible Letitia working her magic on my darling Harley. I like getting him checked over even if he is not obviously sore. I don't think enough people put emphasis on the need for bodywork as a preventative not just a fix.

So who is keen on a horse update??? Reggie and Jack are living their best lives with heaps of grass and special one on one attention. I do wonder if I could pitch a tent and live with them.... It's a pretty spectacular spot. So thankful that they are so happy and loved.

Long post warning ;-) Its the end of an era.

After much consideration, sleepless nights, and debate, we have come to the sad, yet necessary decision to close the K9 Equestrian riding school.

This decision was not made lightly but came down to the wellbeing of our horses. As you know over the years, we have seen horses come and go. Horses safe and suitable stayed with us and provided the incredible service of teaching so many. When it came time that they were tired of the lesson life, they were moved on to wonderful, amazing homes. Cooper, Anzac, Gerald, Boy, Peggy, Koda, Kinder and Katie are all in wonderful homes living their best lives. Unfortunately, over the last 3 years we have tried numerous other horses for suitability as lesson horses, but we have not found suitable replacements within our budget. This has left Reggie, Jack and Jet to take the lion share of the workload for many years and now they are the last 3. All 3 of these boys have given so many years to teaching children and adults to ride and they are now deserving a cruisier life.

Jack and Reggie will be going to a home together where they will be trekked and taken on many wonderful adventures. We will still see them regularly and are so thankful that we have found such an incredible lease home for them. To keep the brothers together is my promise to them and in this home, they will be the only 2 horses so will get all the love, carrots, and apples they deserve.
Jet will be staying with us at this stage and will be Toby's paddock buddy.

Our horses have always come first, and it is for this reason we have made this decision.

Going forward K9 Equestrian will continue to offer riding lessons to people with their own ponies / horses as well as continue with our Barefoot Trimming service.

We would like to thank all our horse’s past and present who have so kindly guided riders on their journey. It has been an incredible honor to work with these horses and watch the joy they bring to us and all the riders over the years.

We would like to thank all the riders and their families for supporting us, laughing with us and becoming part of our family over the past 10 years.

And finally, I would like to thank my long suffering mumsie Jane and my amazing partner Bruce for the ongoing love and support over the years, whilst I followed my dream and fulfilled the dreams of so many others. You have both supported me through the highs and the lows of this adventure which I will always be grateful.

I sign off with a tear in my eye as my dream and passion finally comes to an end.

People often ask me why I haven't started Raphie yet. This is why.......
My entire goal for him is to be a happy, healthy pony with a long riding career. I don't believe I would be doing him any justice rushing the process before he is fully developed. He turns 4 in November so he will come home soon and do his first structured learning, where we will work on softness and our partnership. He will then be turned out again to continue to develop before starting his ridden career.
Food for thought.... If thoroughbreds (and equine destined for many other equine disciplines) were given time to mature, instead of being raced / trained from 2yr olds, would they have fewer long term issues? As humans do we put profit and sport ahead of the animals welfare? I know my opinion!

Our lovely class clown Katie is looking for the perfect lease home as a hack and general best mate. She has decided it's time to hang up her lesson bridle and find a home where she will get one on one attention like every princess should 👑 she is a typical red head mare so needs a confident rider who doesn't mind the odd excited miniature bunny hop. She is a forward ride out in a group and is happiest up front. No begginers please. If you think you know someone who may be interested please feel free to pass the info on. Refences and property checks will be needed. She is a much loved girl who deserves the best.

Look who was a super star today....
With Raphie nearing the age of 4 it is nearly time for him to be lightly started. With this in mind we decided to introduce him to some tricky tracks in the bush. Wow did he impress. So calm and confident, even leading the group at times. He is going to be one very very cool pony.

Barefoot trimming services

We are excited to offer another professional service under the K9 EQUESTRIAN banner.

Bruce has been trimming our horses and keeping them in great form and he is now offering this service to a limited number of horses and owners.

If you are looking for someone who will take their time to listen to the horse, allow the horse time to process, and work towards a goal of healthier, happier hooves look no further.

Cost: $50 / horse / trim
(We offer trimming cycles of 3 to 5 weeks.)

We are utterly devastated to share the heartbreaking news that Missy passed away today. Missy you were a 1 in a million pony, who brought so much love and joy to us and your new family. We cried when we dropped you off as we knew our paddock would never be the same without you. We cried tears of joy when we received updates from your loving family, seeing the joy and love you gave them. And we cry today for you and your family, who's hearts are breaking as much as ours. You will live on through your gorgeous baby you surprised us with, Moo is your carbon copy who like you brings so much joy to us. Life is so unfair, so unpredictable and so heartbreaking at times. For those who are reading this, give you loved ones (human and animal) a tighter squeeze tonight and don't forget to tell them you love them. Run free little girl you will be so missed.

Went to visit the "babies" today for there pedicure day. They are looking absolutely amazing... although young Raphie may be enjoying a bit too much grass 😆 They are growing up to be such happy, relaxed and friendly ponies. Super excited about all of their futures. So blessed to have the best family who allow them to live in their lovely big hill paddocks so they can enjoy being babies and having plenty of space to play.

So incredibly thankful.... the mower arrived yesterday and we will have bales on Wednesday. If anyone is available to lend a hand picking them up it would be hugely appreciated. Contractor estimating atleast 700 bales. BBQ and refreshments supplied 😁

Next on the list is the 1 and only ginger ninja Katie Potatie. Katie joined my team about 6 years ago before I sold her to one of my awesome pupils Alice. With Alice away for Uni she has kindly loaned her to us again this year. Katie is a typical chestnut mare who keeps her paddock mates in check and makes her opinion know . She is the class clown and always gives us laugh with her antics.
