Sorry I’ve been a quiet of late, unfortunately we haven’t had a great start to 2023. My gorgeous husband passed away in January and I was also in hospital with a serious infection in my arm (which luckily they didn’t have to amputate 😬)
While all of this was unfolding we encountered a cheeky fox cub who managed to get thru our electric fence, into our pens and over the course of a few weeks killed roughly 40 of our beloved chickens 😐😩
I did have babies in grow out pens under the house which foxy loxy didn’t get, but a fair whack of our breeding pens were decimated 😔
This means breeding 2023 will look different to what I’d planned, but we’ll regroup and push on, with life and chickens.
For now I’ll be concentrating on our 7yo son and myself while we learn to navigate life without our biggest fan. We’re going to take some much needed time out for both of us and I’ll see you all after winter ❄️🐥🥚
