The HA test is used to detect the presence of viruses that cause agglutination (clumping) of red blood cells (RBCs). Many viruses, including avian influenza viruses, have proteins (hemagglutinins) that can bind to RBCs and cause them to clump together. The HI test is used to detect antibodies against viruses that cause hemagglutination. This test measures the ability of antibodies to prevent the virus from agglutinating RBCs.
HA Test detects the presence of viruses that cause red blood cell agglutination.
HI Test detects antibodies against those viruses by inhibiting red blood cell agglutination.
