Looking forward to connecting with other conservation dog folks in person. Lucky for us it's a short commute!!
We are so honored to be entrusted to assist National Park Service with their endeavors to preserve and protect California's only native freshwater turtle species, the western pond turtle (Actinemys marmorata).
Special thanks to our wonderful group of volunteer dog teams for their dedication and perseverance through warm weather, poison oak, and thousands of ticks to search for the precious nests of this endangered turtle in an effort to protect them. Ashley, Elizabeth, Jennie and Katie are all rockstars!!

Thanks to park biologists and partners, visitors again have turtle-spotting opportunities in popular parts of Golden Gate National Recreation Area where they had vanished. But the turtles still need help growing their numbers.
This will be a fun way to earn those CEUs!
If you can't make the live, it will be recorded and available for later viewing.

Western pond turtles (WPT) are a species close to my heart. My George was the first dog ever to be trained to detect their nests for conservation purposes. He continued to work with NPS to help save this species in both Yosemite and Golden Gate Parks. His legacy carries on with me as we continue to work with this threatened California native.
If you feel inclined, The Wildlife Society is selling WPT shirts to help raise funds for the San Francisco Zoo's head start program. It's a very worthy cause and a great program.

Me and my girls, SCENTdogs Circe and Muon.
Did you know that parts of Arizona are green? We slogged through mud and damp vegetation on the hunt for a rare orchid last week in southern Arizona. We worked alongside the crews from Desert Botanical Garden and Smithsonian to increase detection probability by deploying our specially trained botany dogs. Thank you Eirini Pajak for the gorgeous photos.
This was a fun webinar to make and present. The recording is available for sale at www.scentwork.org

Hello FB friends, we are in need of some K9NW training or trial video for an upcoming webinar for scentwork.org where a false alert may have been cued by the handler reaching for a reward while the dog was still working. Bonus points if you got a "no" and mistakenly rewarded the dog anyway! We promise to use it for teaching and only for good. All credit where credit is due of course. Videos can be sent through messenger or email [email protected].
