Today is the last day of National Pet Cancer Awareness Month. Throughout the month, we've shared the Top 10 early warning signs of cancer from the AVMA to help keep you aware and proactive.

If your pet is diagnosed with cancer, the next step is a referral to an oncologist. The goal with any cancer treatment is that your pet maintains a good quality of life before, during, and after treatment.

The top priority for every patient is to achieve a good quality of life for as long as possible. At Partner, we believe that you know your pet best, and the criteria for determining one animal’s quality of life may not fit for another. Being armed with the correct information allows you to be the best advocate for your pet.

If you suspect your pet needs to be seen, call us. We can help.

Today is Giving Tuesday and the perfect time to share this heartwarming story. A special family and client of Partner Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Center Richmond received some hope last week when CBS 6 investigative reporter Laura French and the WTVR CBS 6 News Month of Giving covered a portion of the family’s vet bill.

Lauren and Ryan Nottingham had been bringing their beloved rescue Moo Moo Milkshake, (aka Moo), to Dr. Melissa Miller, Partner’s Oncologist, for months as Moo fought cancer. This 4-year-old Pitbull had become a favorite at Partner, and the family and the oncology team did everything they could to save her. Sadly, Moo eventually succumbed to the cancer.

And as if that wasn’t hard enough, the couple also lost their home and Ryan lost his job during the time they were treating Moo. So, this gift was truly a blessing. You can learn more about Moo and the Nottingham's story by following the link in our bio.

If you want to spread hope this Giving Tuesday, consider signing up for a yoga class at Lauren’s The Yoga Dojo where she offers weekend classes to fundraise for FETCH a Cure. Learn more The Yoga Dojo.

Today is National Canine Lymphoma Awareness Day.

In 2011, the well-known and respected dog agility trainer and competitor, Terry Simons, received devastating news. The veterinarian diagnosed Simon's "heart and soul" dog, Reveille, with Lymphoma. As an educated dog owner, Terry connected with professionals who helped him choose the best path for his beloved companion.

Reveille not only competed in dog agility throughout her treatment but thrived. When the time came to let Reveille go, Terry knew he was making the right decision for her. In Reveille's honor, Terry created CLEAR (Canine Lymphoma Education Awareness and Research), a foundation dedicated to providing information, resources, and research into the devastating disease.

You, too, can help raise awareness for canine lymphoma by learning to recognize the signs, how it affects dogs, and what to expect. You can also donate to one of the many organizations that are committed to researching the disease and improving treatment.
