*For a good laugh, watch until the very end. 🤣*

I know I keep saying this but I’m so dang proud of Steel! Yes he spooked at the garbage on the ground but he came right back to me and kept trying each obstacle. Some horses would shut down with these challenges but not this guy. He just kept at it, was able to gather his courage and made it happen.
I’m blown away with how incredible Steel is doing. He got his simple lead change as if he’s being doing it for years and stayed in control and calm the entire time. It’s obvious we haven’t worked on side passing (I sped that part up during the video) or haunch turns, but I love how much try he had when I asked. He’s still green but it’s not going to take long for him to become someone’s number one horse.
Steel and Latte from Libby’s Lucky Mustangs did amazing in the handling class this morning. This is asking a lot of these horses to perform with all the chaos around the arena and they did awesome.
We are here! I’m so proud of how he did in the big arena with other horses.
.

Despite the chaos of dogs, kids and other farm life, Steel stands for the farrier as if he’s been doing it for years. Hard to believe he spent most of his time as a wild stallion.

Please use the contact info for us on that page as we aren’t on Facebook often.
Steel stands solid at the mounting block that’s for sure!
Even though I’ve been riding Steel for a while, I put in a lot of ground work time before each ride to help him be soft in the bridle and responsive to aids. Here I’m working on an emergency stop just in case a bear comes out of the woods and wants to say hi. 😜
.
Steel will be available through the MYWY Tip Training Challenge August 13th in Cle Elum, WA. For more info, please visit www.MYWY.org

Name: Steel
Age: 5 ish
HMA: South Steens
Height: 15hh
Approx Weight: 900lbs
Steel is such a fun ride! He’s becoming so much softer in the bridle and stands at the mounting block like a champ.🤩
I’m coming to the posting party late but I’m excited to introduce you to Steel! He is a 5ish year old gelding from the South Steens Wild Horses HMA.
.
While I’ve had him since the beginning of March, I’ve really only been working with him for about a month. He’s been to the Washington State Horse park twice, spent three days with Mustang Matt Horse Trainer, ridden over a dozen times and is getting ready for his first farrier appointment on Sunday. Stay tuned for more frequents posts now that I’ve overcome the hurdle of the first one.

There is so much awesomeness in his big boned beautiful boy.🥰
Dutch’s first class! I’m so proud of how he has handled the chaos of his first show. The trailer was a big step up for this little guy but he hopped right in! Tomorrow morning is our in had trail class which will be super fun!

Barely will be available for adoption following the MYWY competition on Saturday August 6th in Cle Elum, WA. For more details, please visit www.MYWY.org
This is only their second time practicing passing over poles and the first time going around the L. Barley is a very quick learner and has a lot of try. He doesn’t get mad when he gets confused, just digs in and keeps trying. If you are looking for an easy going, first project horse, Barley is the one!
Barley had his feet done in early June and was a perfect client standing still and picking up his feet when asked. His feet are nice and hard and just the right size to give him a solid base. He’s awesome! 😁
In one attempt, Barley learned to wear a blanket and shipping boots. So to up the challenge, Asha decided to try to load him in the trailer wearing all the things and (no surprise) he jumped right in.
What new thing do you want to see Barley do next? Drop a comment below and this team will give it a try. Because of his young age, he cannot be ridden or carry loads right now but outside of that, let’s see how creative we can get!
Sometimes you need to double up your efforts and walk your MYWY mustang and 4-H steer at the same time while your puppy tags along. ☺️
When Papa leaves for work, Asha does things that only Mama allows. 😉 Libby called this trick, “In today’s edition of why our house is trashed...” 🤣
