Jack
This is what you do when clients aren’t committed enough to show up for training….. Train your own dogs! Good job Jack!!!
Rocco
Reflecting on 2024…
I love working with all dogs, but the ones that really struggle, truly have my heart. The dogs that are afraid of everything and have no confidence and just want to crawl in the back of the crate and hide. This was Rocco!! To get him to off leash status was not easy but he learned to trust me with everything he had! This was his final test before going home, definitely tears of joy! So proud of you Rocco!!!!
Out of control
Just a short video to show how much of a bad influence owners can be to their dogs. I was called TWICE by the wife about her aggressive shepherd and I guess one conversation wasn’t enough to prove my point, but it took another phone call and an evaluation to prove my point. People want to call for help and then argue. Trust me, I know it’s not easy hearing that you’re the reason why your dog acts the way they do but if you’re the problem, you’re also the solution. I had to send the wife back to the house because of her behavior with the dog. This dog came at me so hard out of the door, the husband could barely hold him so I wasn’t able to video like I wanted to but you can see the difference in the dog once the wife was out of the picture. The husband actually thanked me. Soon as we got back to the house, the wife started all over again loving on the dog and talk talk talk to the dog and the dog exploded. I said sir, I’m really sorry but if this doesn’t change, your dog will never get better and I walked away. This poor dog.
Maggie
Having some fun with Maggie doing some nose work and place command. This was a lot of fun!!!
Tigg
I have highlighted Tigg before but this is too cute/awesome not to share! Soo happy when I see my clients continuing to put in the work. Great Job!!!!!!!!!
Reactivity
Two owners have called me just this week after they took their reactive dogs to a purely positive trainer here in town only to end up STILL with a reactive dog and $$ down the drain!!! I get calls about this quite often and it’s sickening how so many people are getting ripped off!!! Anyway,,, I thought I had more video but it wasn’t recording when I thought it was. This owner has struggled so much with her dog on a walk because he would explode at the sight of another dog. We did one lesson today and once the corrections for unacceptable behavior was applied, he GOT IT!!!
Good job buddy!!!
Cooper
Just said goodbye to Cooper. He shined like a rock star at the go home lesson. Thank you to his owner for trusting me with this beautiful boy!
Ruthies Award
****WIN NUMBER 2****
I want to thank EVERYONE that took time out of their busy schedules to vote for me!!! I am humbled and blessed to have your support! There is NO WAY this could happen without you!!! It was a great night and to celebrate it with my beautiful wife, made it even more special!!! Thank you all again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cooper
I know I recently posted a video on Cooper but this is a huge win for him so we need to celebrate! Cooper has never been in public until today. He was pretty nervous at first but I worked him through it and then he relaxed and realized that he had nothing to be scared of. I really put him to the test at the main entrance and he killed it!!!! There was 5 ladies at the service desk watching with big smiles on their faces. Awesome job Cooper!!!!!
Cooper
Today marks one week with Cooper. I don’t think I would have enough memory in my phone to record all the issues so I just hit a few, then got busy. Remember he deals with separation anxiety so I spend a lot of time building his confidence. Once he learned the DOWN command, then I can work on STAY. Taking one step away from him, he would break the down so I had to build trust that I’m coming back which leads to the long down stays. He’s doing very well and I’ll keep pushing him to make him stronger mentally.
Maverick
LEADERSHIP/BUILDING CONFIDENCE EQUALS SUCCESS!
There was a post in one of the local groups by a lady looking for help with her golden retriever. Thanks to everyone that recommended me, I was able to meet with her today and make some progress with the dog and owner. Maverick has bitten his owner, so she reached out for help before it was too late. If she got out the scissors to trim his hair, he would show his teeth. Not only would he not get in the bathtub, but he wouldn’t even go into the bathroom. So what did I do? I spent some time bonding with Maverick, then I had the owner take out the scissors and lay them on the counter and then he and I just played together. After a short period of time we had the scissors that was across the room, now sitting beside me on the bench, and I had him coming over and touching the scissors with his nose and then I would produce the reward so it became a fun game for him. Then I would touch his body. I would mark the behavior that I was looking for and then I would reward him with food and this went on for several minutes and then I brought the Owner into the picture which you will see in a video of us working as a team, and he did very well. Then we moved upstairs to the bathroom, which he would not even enter before, but on the first attempt, he went right into the bathtub and the owner was just blown away because he has never done that before. I had a long discussion with the owner about giving the dog too much unearned affection and being a leader to the dog, not a lover. Let me say this, this will be the first and only time that my followers will see me sitting on a toilet in a video. Lol Thank you to the owner for reaching out for help. I’m glad that I was able to get her on the right track to success .Again thank you to those that recommended me in the local Facebook group.
