I want to tell you a secret. A secret that my dog taught me.⁠

You see, every time I walk into the room, my dog looks up at me and smiles. He knows that I'm going to come over and give him belly rubs and treats. And he has no doubt that I will come back again tomorrow and do exactly the same thing. My dog is a very happy pup because he lives in a world where everything is predictable.⁠

He expects me to be kind, loving, caring, and compassionate—and that's exactly what I am! But here's the thing… we all have the power to be our own dogs' expectations of us. We can be kinder than we think we are; more loving than we believe ourselves capable of; more compassionate than we imagine possible. We can make our own worlds better by being kinder, more caring people than we've previously been able to imagine ourselves being.
