Don’t let her age fool you – she is extremely active and loves chasing her ball, going on walks, going for roller blades, or going for a car ride. She has separation anxiety and needs a home with someone around more often than not (even post-covid). She always wants to be by her human, following her around, sitting beside her, pawing for pets. She currently sleeps in bed right by her foster mom’s
head. She does need to lose about 2 pounds to be at a healthy weight, and she will do her best to work you for treats whenever possible, so her new owner must be strong and resist her cuteness. She does have some mild food aggression around other dogs. She is now eating with the other dogs in the household, but if they come too close she will go after them. She is more of a dominant dog and her play style is very rough, which is overwhelming to most dogs. If she were to live with another dog in the household, it should be around the same size, and comfortable with rough play. She can be a bulldozer and doesn’t always look where she is going, so she can push over other small dogs. Due to her bulldozer habits, she would not do well with a home with small children (as she would likely knock them over and possibly hurt them). Luxie would not be suitable for apartment living as she can be a barker. She loves to bark at squirrels, people, birds, anything she sees out the window. She would do well as an only dog or with a suitable dog companion (see above). We haven’t tested her with cats, but suspect she would chase them, as she has a high prey drive. Luxie is housebroken but her leash manners need a bit of work, as she pulls a lot and is surprisingly strong for such a small dog. Luxie needs a home with humans to love on her frequently, who are active and will take her on lots of walks and be happy to throw her ball for her.
