Presley arrived in early July 🦔 she was just 88g 😬 Yesterday she was returned to the wild at a fabulous weight of 530g 🦔 Happy snuffling Presley 💙

Carol messaged me a few days ago to ask if her grandson could visit the rescue 🦔 Eli was visiting the UK from Ohio & had recently learned about hedgehogs in his reception class at school 🇺🇸 Eli’s family arrived at the rescue early in the day so he could observe the morning routine of weighing & cleaning out the hogs 🦔 The absolute joy & excitement on his face when he got to hold & then name a hedgehog was just gorgeous 🥰 At the age of only 6 he informed me that to hold a hedghog had been on his bucket list & he could now tick it off 🤣

Pip & Pop arrived a few days ago 🦔 they had been spotted moving around in a garden during the day for several days 😬 They both weighed under 200g, were covered in ticks, were severely dehydrated & terribly underweight 🙁 sadly despite my best efforts they have both died 😔 Please, please if you see a hedgehog out in the day IT IS NOT OK 🦔 Please contain it & contact a rescue immediately as they are most likely to be very ill 💙 Snuffle free Pip & Pop 🌈

I have 30 hedgehogs in the rescue 🦔🦔 And 15 out at foster 🦔 This is WAY more than I ever anticipated I would have & because of this I am struggling a little bit with supplies 😬

It’s been a sad day in the rescue today as little Houdini lost his short battle 🌈 He was doing quite well but took a sudden turn for the worse yesterday 🙁 I do believe he had some congenital condition that had prevented him from growing as at just 65g he had all his teeth & was a fully formed hedghog but in miniature 🦔 Snuffle free Houdini 💙 I’m sorry I couldn’t save you 😢

Back in March I delivered a talk to a local pensioners group in a social club in Kettering 🦔 Ruth & Richard were there that day & luckily paid attention to what I told them 😀 This afternoon they spotted Archie looking unwell in their garden 🦔 Knowing that “Out in the day is not ok” they quickly rescued him 😊
At just 149g he is a poorly boy 🦔 dehydrated & covered in fleas 😞 Fingers crossed that he soon improves 🦔

Leo was found under a pallet of hay at a stable in Lamport 🐎 A deceased adult hog had been seen on a road nearby 😞 I asked all the users of the yard to be vigilant as he wouldn’t be the only baby & if mum was gone they would struggle to survive 🦔Two days later Lauren was found in a haynet & was rescued 💙The very next day a nest was discovered in the yard by a dog 🐕 It contained Benji, Arthur & Thistle 🦔 The 5 hoglets ranged in weight from 120 to 228g 😮
Sadly Lauren & Thistle who were the tiniest didn’t survive 😞🌈
Fingers crossed for Leo, Benji & Arthur 🦔

Today was my birthday 🎉 I have 30 hedgehogs in the rescue 🦔 I have so many people calling me about sick, injured or baby hedgehogs 🦔 I’m so busy I can’t answer the phone 😬 I receive angry voicemails 😡 I had my first hedgehog dropped off unannounced without a call first 🦔 I am FULL 🦔 I also have a life outside the rescue 😬 Please be kind 🥰 Today felt hard 😞

Little Loki arrived yesterday evening 🦔 she was just 80g, cold & dehydrated 😕 Despite my best efforts she was just too weak & didn’t survive the night 😞 Snuffle free little one 🌈

Every fortnight we attend a quiz at our local village pub 🍻 🍷 Each time the money raised from the quiz entries & the raffle is donated to either a local charity or one that is close to a local persons heart 💙 On Tuesday 30th the quiz is in aid of my rescue 🦔
The raffle usually consists of a table of unwanted Christmas gifts & tat from the back of people’s cupboards & people take ages to choose their prize 🤣
I however like to do it differently & for the last two years I have put unlabelled envelopes on the table that contain vouchers! Each envelope is the same & its contents are unknown 😮
It causes great excitement & anticipation amongst the crowds 🤣

The rescue is currently overflowing with babies 🦔 as they become stable, are eating well & gaining weight steadily I like to send them to Foster Carers 🥰 I have a small team of Fosterers but am looking for a couple more 🦔 If you live locally to the rescue, have a quiet area where you could fit a large cage & can commit to feeding & weighing every day & cleaning a stinky cage for a few weeks then please get in touch for more details 😀

Little Dave was spotted being attacked by two magpies by a BT engineer who was just parking his van up to start a job in Corby 📞 Luckily he realised Dave was in danger & an hour later was in the rescue 🦔 He seems to have escaped his ordeal unscathed 💙

I’m full 🦔 But it’s very, very hard to say no 😞 especially when it’s the sister of one of your most fabulous volunteers that has found a baby hog 🦔 Little Stuart was found in a ditch surrounding a bowling green in Desborough this afternoon 🦔Luckiky Carol knew that to pop him under a nearby hedge wasn’t the right thing to do 🦔 At just 163g Stuart is definitely going to need some support before he can run free 🦔

Little Houdini arrived this morning 🦔 At just 65g he’s got a bit of a journey ahead of him 😬 He was discovered by his finders dog on Thursday & was popped in a box in their conservatory overnight - this is how he got his name as he escaped the box & also the conservatory 🌙 Today he wandered across the garden again & this time he was contained VERY securely until one of my volunteer taxi drivers collected him 🤣

Creating my taxi service has been one of the best things I have ever done & it has made a massive difference to me & the rescue 🚖

Basically it’s a WhatsApp group with over 30 members who live locally & have asked to be on it & are willing to drive far & wide to save a hedgehog 😃 if I have a hedgehog that needs collecting for whatever reason I send a message out to the group 🦔 Most times someone will respond within a couple of minutes & they head off with their box, gloves & heat pad to collect 💙

I actually couldn’t do what I do without my taxi group now & I am incredibly grateful to every single member of the group 🥰

I think every rescue should have a Hedgehog Taxi Group 🚖

My 99th arrival of the year 🦔 Lucky was spotted by Cam the window cleaner this morning in the middle of a busy road 🪜 He kept her safe all day & once he finished work he drove the 30 miles to deliver little Lucky to me 💙 At just 140g she definitely needs some help 🦔Now snuggled up with Harriet my hopes are high that she will hopefully thrive within the rescue 🦔

Baby Bella arrived this afternoon after being spotted on her finders lawn in the sun 🦔 I got back from my holiday today & she arrived minutes later 😬
I am now running at capacity with 14 hogs in the rescue & several in foster🦔

Do not follow this page “UK Hedgehogs saving & Rescue Information” They are giving false information & support to hedgehog supporters 🦔

I have been biting my tongue for a long time about the group below, however, I can no longer ignore this as hedgehogs lives are being put at risk. You would think by its name that it would be a good place to go for help and advice, yes? Wrong, so wrong 😡😡
The lady that has set up this group has absolutely no hands-on experience of UK hedgehog rescue at all, in fact she lives in Alaska!!!!! When challenged, not only by myself but by other experienced rescues her answer is to suspend us. She says that this group is a learning group??? Then make the title reflect that for god's sake. The group is NOT monitored by experts unlike two of the best hedgehog groups on Facebook Hedgehogs! and 🦔Supporting Hedgehogs Within The UK 🦔 . Yes she has managed to get 2 ladies who do have experience with hedgehogs on board but with the best will in the world they don't have the time to jump on bad and dangerous advice given out by some of its members.
Unfortunately I don't have time to monitor myself but I've been made aware of at least two posts in the last couple of days that required expert responses and the posters were bombarded with DANGEROUS information that should have been removed immediately!!! If you follow this group yourself or know of others that do then please be aware of the dangers 😡🦔😡

I am full 😬 one of the hardest things when running a rescue is telling a member of the public on the phone that I am full 😞 I can offer advice & suggest other local rescues but I can’t magic up spaces in my rescue 🦔 Please be kind 😊
At the moment I have Hope, Hattie, Crispy, Vader, Daisy, Darcy, Hetty, Snuffles, Wiggles, Summer, Charlie, Maisie, Tickles, Billy & 3 currently unnamed babies 🦔🦔
I am running low on food - whiskas kitten poultry sachets in jelly are the hogs favourites 💙
Cleaning is a huge part of my daily routine - I am low on floor wipes - these are incredibly useful for cleaning out the rather grubby cages each morning 💩
I am going to add my Amazon wishlist- I realise many of the items are not able to be delivered to me & are more pricey than in the supermarket 😬

Crispy arrived a few days ago after he was found sheltering in a crisp packet 🦔 He was just 85g on arrival & hasn’t really been thriving & was just picking at his food 😬
Everything changed yesterday when one of his siblings, Vader, weighing just 90g, was found just steps away from where Crispy was discovered 😮
Vader & Crispy immediately snuggled together in their snood & this morning they had both eaten well with all the bowls licked clean 😀
They particularly love the Royal Canin Starter mousse 🐾 it is on my Amazon wish list if you would like to send some their way 🦔

Meet Daisy and Darcy 🦔🦔 they arrived three days ago both weighing 90g 😬 Their nest was disturbed when the council cut the grass too close to their nest and Mum abandoned them 😞

I am very low on puppy pads and kitchen roll. If anyone can help I would really appreciate it 💙 🦔
