A recent trip to Kazan in Russia ( for triathlon purposes, to those who know that side of me!) Inspired the name and Kazan Catsitting was born.

A monument of the Kazan Cat sits in the centre of the city of Kazan in South West Russia. Historical legend tells of a time in the 18th century when the city was kept free of mice. This was down to the excellent hunting skills of the local cats, a strong, active breed with large heads, a muscular neck and a short tail. In 1745, 30 Kazan cats were transported to St Petersburg to catch mice that had proliferated in the Winter Palace, the cats did their job and the Palace was saved from the menacing mice!
