Thyme heals all……… but what if there is no Thyme?
When I started my rabbit journey I never expected to fall so completely and deeply into the love and madness that the Botanica has become.
There has been so much sadness but such pure joy it has kept me going. The Botanica has become such a massive part of who I am.
But last 6 weeks has had too much grief and the tole it has taken is the absence of joy. A joy that I never ever thought could fade. It feels like a switch has been turned off, and I’m desperately searching in the dark to flick it back on.

My Thyme’s last few days were how I had hoped he’d live out his golden years, constantly by my side, sleeping in my bedroom, cuddles on the couch, enveloped in the special love we had for eachother. Making up for lost hours apart, and trying to quell the rumbling feelings of regret for not having returned him to house bunny life earlier.
My boy’s last night was a desperate attempt to keep him with me, filled with all his favourite activities: he got to run the shed floor, picking fights with every boy he could reach; smooching with all the ladies in his vicinity , his favourite foods and then one last rendezvous with a lady. He was after all the number one Casanova of the Botanica - an efficient but ever so sweet and snuggly lover.
So now we have a nest.
A nest that symbolises so much loss and regret and guilt.
The last nest I’ll see for a long while or perhaps even forever.
Bunny nests used to fill me with excitement and hope, more recently apprehension and fear, and now a sadness and deep guilt.
This one is full of heartache, and the echos of the deep love for the beautiful souls I have lost.

Well Blueberry has found himself a new lady. After a spending Saturday in deep mourning with Blue clearing missing his Pearl, Trinket was introduced and it appears to be another harmonious match for our fluffy Blue lad.

It just doesn’t feel possible that my healthy, chunky queen is gone.
Yesterday, my precious Pearl left this world. Sudden, unexpected and just heartbreaking. Her mighty heart just stopped. And my heart is a mess of shattered pieces.
My beginning, the matriarch of the Botanica, the lady who taught me so much. She brought such a strong, peaceful calm to my world. I thought the end of her mothering days was hard. How wrong i was.
For the last 12 months she enjoyed the retirement life she so deserved. The lounge room, house bunny life with her doting husbun Blue - the rock he so needed, the confident calmness which put him at ease, always together, she made his world a safer, happier place.

My First Lady, my first bunny love, my constant, the lady I could rely on, the bunny I could lean on.

And now she’s suddenly gone. A gaping hole.

Rest in peace my precious lady.

My rabbit world lost one its pillars of strength yesterday.
A mentor, a teacher and a trusted friend. Your light guided me on this journey. Yours words belief lifted me up and your passion inspired me. A friendship I will be forever grateful. A mentor I will miss deeply.

Not even six weeks ago, my special love, enjoying some snuggle time with a visiting friend of the Botanica.
I keep looking back over photos and videos searching for something I missed, a sign his health was deteriorating - but nothing.
So sudden.
So hard to accept or understand.
It still feels surreal that tomorrow it will be two weeks without him.
Surreal, unfair and so damn heartbreaking.
