Gemma is a member of the Pet Professional Guild; is an Agility1st Accredited Instructor, passing the assessment for that with distinction; an Accredited Canine Hoopers UK instructor, Certified Trick Dog Instructor, World Scent Dog Association Instructor and is trained in Small Animal Emergency First Aid. Gemma has also completed various courses in puppy training and behaviour, training principles,

aggression and is currently studying to become a canine behaviourist. Causeway Dog Training is the leading dog sports provider on the north coast, with numerous agility classes running through the week both in Portrush at Maddybenny Farm, and Armoy at Limepark. Classes have a fun community feel and a lot of new friends are made. Gemma competes in agility with her collie x Polly and deaf springer spaniel, Flash. Sports 1-1 (both agility and hoopers) are held at Limepark in Armoy, perfect for reactive dogs, or those already training in the sport who need more specific coaching to nail a skill or reach a goal. Puppy and adolescent classes are held at Benvardin Kennels on Thursday evenings, covering everything required to make fabulous, well rounded pets. These classes cover recall, settling, focus, lead walking, handling and more.

1-1 training is available for adult dogs requiring individualised training plans and behaviour modification; and for puppies to get them started on the right path with training and good routines. Get in touch to see how your relationship with your dog can be taken to the next level!

Super proud of Flash on Saturday!

We went to our first KC show of the year, and nearly didn't go because we're both so unfit and haven't trained in months.

The lack of fitness was clearly evident but aside from that he was absolutely brilliant, perfect weaves in every run, good dog walk and seesaw in both agility runs. Now we just need to get fit and get back in the game!

Here's his first run of the day, 2nd place with 2 poles down but fastest by 8 seconds! Not bad for being unfit!

Important announcement!

Unfortunately since I was unwell at Christmas I have really struggled to get back into the swing of things, combining this with the massive rise in our cost of living I have decided to take a job so that we have a more steady and predictable family income, and hopefully less stress as well.

As a result a number of services will be on hold . Basically, going forward, puppy classes and 1-1s will be the only services in the calendar for the foreseeable.

Those of you with a follow up appointment still to book will still get your follow up, it's just preferable if we get those sorted asap. Let me know if you've lost your follow up appointment link and we can get that sorted.

It's not goodbye, I'll still be here but you'll see less of me. Thanks for all the support over the last few years!

Thanks to the past months weather the dates of the next block of classes at Benvardin kennels has changed a few times so I just want to make sure everyone knows what the craic is!

The February block of all classes- puppy and training club, will run from Thursday 22nd February until 14th March

Photos just don't do it justice! The Altarichard road from Armoy out to Cushendall is just one of the most stunning drives.

I was back out for a follow up with Barney who had big feelings about being groomed. We previously worked on getting him happy with brushing and clipping and I'm very pleased to announce that he's been doing brilliantly! He can be groomed at home and has been to a new groomer and didn't earn himself a ban or embarrass himself! He was silky soft and looking gorgeous!

Since that has gone so well we moved onto Barney's relationship with the family cat. The goal is for Felix to be able to relax and walk around without fear of a chase from the overly enthusiastic Barney. He did well today!

I'm December I got really ill and couldn't function for the whole month. Since then the immune system has taken a constant battering and I've felt like I have simply existed and gotten by, just about.

Today is the first day I've gotten up, felt like I have some drive to get stuff done and can actually enjoy doing things again.

I got out with Flash for the first time in ages and what a great day for it, bring on spring!

Hopefully this is now the corner turned and normal life can resume and you'll be hearing a lot more from me again!

Round and round the maypole! The level of commitment here is truly expert. Last week we started some new tricks in training club, one of which was circling a stick, likened to going around a maypole, and the boys' family went and made a maypole so we can go all in. These are honestly the things I live for. Handlers will also be involved long term but it'll take some convincing to get the girls on camera 😅 #dogtricks #dogtraining #tricktraining #cockerspaniel #dogtrainercoleraine #dogtrainerballymoney
