Chunk has been with me 5 years today and what a 5 years it has been. It really has been a rollercoaster but we have been to shows I could only have dreamed of going to before owning him and for that I am eternally grateful. There are so many people to thank for getting us to this point and I’m looking forward to so many more happy times with him 🥰

We ventured out to Keysoe this afternoon to have a run through of the PSG before the regionals. Chunk took a dislike to the flags and the marquees today so our warm up didn’t quite go to plan. We somehow managed to hold it together in the test and win the class with just under 65%. We’ve still got things to work on but to know we can get this score with limited warm up and a tense test is exciting 🦄

Two days at Keysoe complete 🦄💕
Our aim was to get 2 clear rounds of the PSG, a miscommunication in our 4’s yesterday kept our score down but today was our day and everything went to plan for a clear round and to make it even better we came 1st.
Thank you to everyone that came and watched us this weekend, it’s been lovely catching up with lots of people! 💕

Chunk was a superstar yesterday evening to gain 66% in the PSG at Vale View. Even though it’s not a PB I feel like it was our best test we have ridden at this level 🦄

The last few competitions I’ve really struggled with my warm up and I’ve not been happy with his way of going. We’ve spent some time over these last few weeks breaking everything down and it felt like it all fell into place yesterday. Thanks Jemma Whitlam Equestrian for coming to help me warm up yesterday to make sure I didn’t go off the rails 🤣

✨Area Festival Championship✨
Yesterday may not have been our day on paper but Chunk and I both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We had too many mistakes to be placed but I am so happy we qualified and got to ride at the championships.
It was lovely to catch up with lots of people and finally meet Clare Skinner who bred Chunk 16 years ago 🥰
Also thank you to Jayne Sandiford for helping the last few days and making him look beautiful!
We’ve got lots planned this year and I can’t wait!

This weekend we were very lucky to have been asked to ride at the British Dressage Principles of Judging Seminar and what a weekend it has been! Chunk tried his absolute hardest like always and we have taken so much away from this weekend and I can’t wait to put it all into practice! I am very grateful for all the opportunities Chunk and I have been given ❤️

Training is well underway for the Petplan Area Festival Championships for Chunk and I. We had a great schooling session this morning and he is feeling on top form ✨
Pixie is off to a show this weekend as well so let’s hope the worst of the weather is out the way now! 🌪☔️

Today Chunk and I won the PSG with 67% ❤️

Up until half an hour before I was due to leave we weren’t going, the wind and rain had really put me off this morning. But then I thought to myself I’m silly not going as he is really well at the moment and I am so lucky to have a horse like him to ride! Thank god I did, the training at home is really paying off and to get this score when we had a break in the extended trot and a mistake in the changes which is normal our highlight. I’m excited to see what’s to come!

💙💚Vale View Area Festivals 💚💙
I’m so proud of these two horses this weekend! Friday Pixie Lot and Jemma Whitlam Equestrian were in the Novice Silver. Pixie has been feeling extremely well these last few weeks so we were worried how she might behave! She kept everyone on their toes in the warm up but when she went into the test she managed to hold it together. A few spooky moments kept the scores down but she scored 67.7% and ended up 6th. I’m so happy with how she is coming on and I’m excited for her future.

Then Saturday was Hillgrounds Profiles (Chunks) turn and as we hadn’t been out since Keysoe High Profile I was quite nervous. I had nothing to worry about, he pulled it out the bag like the legend he is and won. We are off to the championships at Inter 1! This horse is getting better and better and I have so much love for him.

Both these horses are British bred- Chunk by Clare Skinner and Pixie Anna Ross - Elite Dressage and I’m so grateful to have both these wonderful horses to ride everyday ❤️

Yesterday we ventured over to Keysoe for the area festivals with Jemma riding Pixie. Even though it might not have been their day on paper Pixie learnt some much. This last week she has been feeling a bit too well so our main aim was to just get round and everyone survive and that was achieved so that was a win in our eyes!
Achievements of the day-
✅ she survived a very busy warm up which she has never experienced before
✅ first time competing at Keysoe and in arena 3 (the scary arena) and not spooky at all
✅ completed the test with no extra special movements added in (well nearly)
✅ she is a pleasure to take to shows

We are going to Vale View next week to have another go and if nothing else just give her more experience to help her confidence grow. Thank you Jemma for riding her so well and dealing with everything she throws at you!

Pixie and Jemma Whitlam Equestrian on their way to winning both novice classes yesterday at Moulton with 68% and 69%. They had some lovely comments and it’s really exciting to see what the future holds ❤️

Sorry for being so quiet on here recently. We’ve been busy competing and also getting the house and stables sorted before Christmas. We’ll be ready for a holiday soon 😆

This weekend Chunk and I ventured to Keysoe High Profile, it wasn’t our greatest test by any means. I should have read the warnings when my stirrup leather broke in the warm up 😳🙈!

His whole way of going wasn’t as good as I’ve had it recently which resulted in mistakes in both sets of changes, which are usually our highlight and these blips were very costly 😕.

We did end up 🥉 overall so I’ve got to look at some positives. I’ve taken a lot away from this show and we will go back out in a few weeks time and hopefully put Saturday behind us……I’d also better buy some new stirrup leathers 😂

I then opened the British Dressage magazine today and it was a gentle reminder of how much we have achieved and I am ever so grateful for this horse ❤️

Yesterday Pixie headed to Moulton with Jemma Whitlam Equestrian for the two novice classes. It was a great day overall scoring 67.5% and 65%. There were a few moments where she tried it on and it made me realise I’m definitely not quite ready to take her to a show yet 🙈 The judges comments were really positive and has given us lots to work on! That is Pixie all qualified for the area festivals now too 😊

Yesterday was Chunks turn to go to Vale View to have a run through the Inter 1 🐴💃🏻 He gave me the best feeling through the whole test so I was a little disappointed with the score of 64% but I then saw my test sheet! It was full of 6.5’s and 7’s apart from our pirouettes which we know are a working progress and with them being double marks they are costly!

We have changed a few things recently in training and I’m pleased I managed to get them in the test yesterday. I have been focusing on my warm up as well and I definitely feel like I’ve got it sorted now 🙌

I’m now feeling more determined than ever to crack the pirouettes and looking forward to our next show in a couple of weeks!

Today both horses had their saddles checked by the lovely Ruth Wyatt Saddlery and it’s so good to hear they’ve both put muscle on and bulked out 💪🏻 I also treated them to a new Fairfax Saddles girth yo match their saddle 😍

Rome wasn’t built in a day!…..and this is certainly the case with Pixie Lot. We have taken it very slowly with her and we’ve hit a few speed bumps on the way but today it all paid off and I feel our patience has been rewarded 😊

I am so grateful to Jemma Whitlam Equestrian for all the hard work she has put into Pixie and for giving her so much confidence, especially today at her first BD show where they did the two novices at Vale View.

We had set achievable objectives for the day so I was thrilled when they exceeded these and gained 67% for 2nd place and 64% for 5th place 🎖. Pixie was very tired by the second test, I think she’d have been happy if we’d gone home after the first 😆

I’ll give Jemma a day or two to recover from being back in a dressage arena then we’ll start planning some more parties for Pixie 🧚‍♀️! I’m so excited for the future 🥰!

We’ve still got a long way to go but I am happy with how everything is looking considering we only got the keys 4 months ago! 🏡 There are still lots of exciting things to come but I need to be patient!

Chunk and I ventured out for the first time today……. Freshly clipped I was a little worried how he would behave 🐎💨 but I had nothing to worry about, he loved it. One of my lovely neighbours lead the way otherwise I would have got completely lost, we have so many bridleways around us. I can’t wait to get out and explore some more!

The horses are all settled in and it feels like a dream come true having them right outside my window 🥰!

They’ve both been ridden this weekend and felt great on our arena surface from Equestrian Arena Surfaces by EquestrianX. As you can imagine I’m picking up every drop of 💩 that they put on it to keep it looking so good 😂😂

We’ve got a lot of exciting things coming up in the next couple of months but for now I’m just going to enjoy this view every single day 😊.

The Midway Dressage Championships at Hartpury was definitely a show of two halves 😬…….. on both days we had mistakes in the PSG straight classes which kept our scores down 🤦‍♀️ BUT Chunk definitely made up for it in the Midway Music Championships Gala evening to become the PSG reserve champion 🥳.

He came alive in the music in front of a crowd and we both had the best time. I think he thought that everyone was there just to watch him, we won’t tell him the truth 😆

He had a well earned day off yesterday and a lovely hack today, which thankfully didn’t involve meeting combines and tractors (he’s not a fan of such things 😂)…..for once I was pleased to hack in the drizzle and we had to stop for a snack on the way home 🤣🐷

He’ll have a quiet couple of weeks now while I decide what we aim for next 🤔. As he loves the music so much I’m thinking maybe we can have a go at the Inter I FSM….watch this space 😊

🎉 We won the PSG freestyle at the area festivals qualifying for the championships in October 🎉

I could just leave it at that but I’d better tell you about the lows as well as the highs 😆

We ventured up to Fieldhouse on Monday for two days of area festival fun and 3 tests. The Inter 1 on Monday didn’t go as planned but at least it worked well as an enhanced arena familiarisation session 🤦‍♀️😂.

I was feeling a bit disheartened by the test as I thought we’d nailed it at home and at ‘normal’ shows but hey, that’s horses for you isn’t it!

A good pep talk with Jemma Whitlam on Monday evening helped me feel much better and I was ready for the following day when we had the PSG and the PSG music!

The pep talk clearly payed off and he felt like a different horse and the judges obviously agreed, they loved my music which always helps!

We’ve got some practicing to do before the finals but I can’t wait!
