From our friends at Spay Anyway-

Everywhere we go for the last 2 weeks, we’ve seen female cats being followed, cornered, and worse. Now is the time for you to save cats from this and to help your community not have as many kittens in need of help in a few months.

If you have any ability to interrupt the cycle, get him and/or her fixed, please please do that. If you have no ability to do this, please reach out for help. Don’t be the person that knowingly has/feeds unaltered cats, does nothing about what’s coming, and then needs help with kittens that could have been prevented. If you are in Louisville, there are great resources in place to assist with spay/neuter.

In Hardin Co we have our low cost clinic, FOHCAS has a program and vouchers available.
1 momma cat or1 baby daddy is much easier to deal with than all the kittens they can produce this summer!

Our clinic has openings for Feb 8! Text 270-319-2609

Thank you to all of our followers and supporters! We know we have been quiet for the last few weeks, but rest assured we are working tirelessly doing what we do to help the cats of Hardin, County. Most of you know Mari Nall, the force of nature that does all of our social media. She has been very ill since the first of the year and will have a long term recovery. But rest assured, as soon as she gets her phone, she will be back.
In the meantime, we are continuing to run our low cost spay/neuter clinic and will be expanding it in the near future. We just altered 20 kittens this weekend so we will have kittens for adoptions by Wednesday! We have about 45 kittens in our care! We have a mama and 5 babies in our care. We are planning our next onsite TNR clinic soon! We will be supporting the new Cat Cafe that is only weeks away! We have big plans for the future so Hardin Co Community Cats is going nowhere. As always, we are looking for volunteers, fosters, donations, and prayers to help us and Mari.

If you are feeding a male cat, please do not wait to have him neutered. Every second he is out there is a HUGE risk. Unneutered male cats fight. I don't care how sweet you think he is. All of them fight - it's their nature. And it's the way the most severe feline diseases are spread. You can prevent this before it happens! And, you can prevent a lot of new kittens being born outside to suffer in the harsh environment.

Don't wait for him to show up injured!
Don't wait for the weather to get warmer.
Don't wait because "he can't have kittens".
Don't wait because "you'll do it later".
Don't wait to earn his trust more.
Don't wait for him to contract deadly diseases.

Don't wait.

Hope everyone is safe and all of your animals are inside or have warm shelters and access to food and water for the ferals that refuse to come in! Here is some info in case you have the need for it in our freezing winter weather! If you are cold outside, they are cold outside!

We've got exciting news! 🎉 In 2025, we'll be able to offer $25 Spay and Neuter for ALL cats and dogs under 80 lbs! We are so grateful to Cathy Bissell and BISSELL Pet Foundation for making this happen through their Fix The Future initiative!

Book your pet's spay/neuter surgery by dropping by the clinic at 1924 Louisville Road, or visit bgshelterpets.com/25! ❤️

**IMPORTANT disclaimer** We are seeing a HUGE influx of applications, which is wonderful. For a faster appointment, please come to the shelter in person. If you are unable to do this, we will reach out to you via telephone, but it may take us 2-3 weeks to get through all of the applications. Thank you for your patience, and THANK YOU for wanting to have your pet spayed or neutered

The early week winter storm will be followed by several very cold days, with daytime temperatures remaining below freezing and nighttime readings occasionally falling into the single digits.

Some of you have asked. Please don’t wait until the storm is here, prepare.

Some of you have asked. Please don’t wait until the storm is here, prepare.

They say snow is on the way this weekend so make sure you are prepared for this cold weather.

If you have outdoor animals you can't bring in make sure they have plenty of straw to stay warm.

We have straw vouchers available at the front desk for anyone that needs assistance.

Vouchers are courtesy of Friends of Hardin County Animal Shelter and are to be redeemed at Pepper's Hardin County Milling just a couple minutes down the road from us
