Teacher Turned Trainer- Basic Dog Training Taryn Tyler- Positive reinforcement Dog trainer in the KC area. Voted Best Dog Trainer in Johnson County for 2024. I have two dogs of my own at home.

My name is Taryn Tyler and I am a former elementary school teacher who has now turned to their passion for training dogs. A 5 year old American Staffordshire Terrier named Sinclair. And a 2.5 year old Great Dane named Glenda.

Does your dog pull on the leash? Check out Moodie demonstrating one way to practice! One strategy I practice with my clients is to stop moving the second your dog is pulling ahead of you. While you're stopped, wait for your dog to turn around and acknowledge you. Once you see the acknowledgement, mark them with a "yes" and give them a reward! I know I've said it before, but door routines are so important for dogs! Give them a specific place to chill and give them the "stay" command. Keep working your way to the front door, and if they don't move, give them a reward.
