'STOP THE GRIND':
A BRAND NEW COALITION TO END THE SLAUGHTER OF WHALES AND DOLPHINS IN THE FAEROE ISLANDS

The precious lives of far too many Pilot whales and Atlantic white-sided dolphins have been snuffed out over the years.

Especially this year when nearly 1500 dolphins were massacred in one single day.

So much have been documented and the information has reached more and more from all over the world who have been speaking out against the atrocities.

Recognizing a new urgency for renewed and expanded action, Sea Shepherd has decided to take the most grave issue to a totally different level.

The organization has teamed up with an impact campaigner, Shared Planet, to launch a global coalition and campaign that brings together all of the organizations and supporters who want to stop this killing once and for all.

What happened in the Faroe Islands on September 12th was nothing less than a record-setting massacre, with 1428 dolphins losing their lives in what was possibly the largest single slaughter of cetaceans in recorded history.

Now, the Faroe government has pledged to look into the regulations of the hunt, but we don't need more regulations, we need the hunt to END.

It's time to keep up the pressure, so keep sharing, messaging, liking, and voicing your displeasure to Faroese authorities!

The topic of boycott is often a difficult one.
Does is really make a difference?
Does it punish a whole country for the actions of a few?

Why do we mention boycotting as an option?

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻: 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗙𝗮𝗿𝗼𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘂𝘀, 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸!

As we have shared with you many times, there ARE many Faroese people against the slaughter. But it comes with such a great price, speaking up against it - and even more so, if done in a loud consistent voice.
So very few people do, and they are not enough to create change at this moment.
Many have told us, that if a ban on the hunt came from international pressure and boycott, they would not have to put themselves in the line of fire in their local communities, as much as it is required right now.
This makes sense.
We would prefer if the locals felt strong enough to just fight this full on by themselves, but we are not there yet.
So the help and pressure from Sea Shepherd and other foreign sources is needed.

But wont it hurt their economy?
No it wont...Because THE SECOND Bakkafrost and Hidden Fjords lose deals and money over this on a larger scale, they will pressure the politicians to intervene.
The salmon industry is a GIANT in this country.
If anything threatens their profits, it will get burried.

𝗦𝗼, 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗱𝗼:
Get as many business you know, to pledge a boycott of the salmon untill the whales and dolphins are protected.

Large or small.... all business all over the world can contribute.
If you are a business owner send an email to Bakkafrost and let them know, that you are avoiding their products until things change.

If you work for a business, ask them to help by participating and sending an email.

If you have nothing but time on your hands, work to get other businesses, restaurants, supermarkets, larger companies to join in by participating and sending an email to bakkafrost.

This does NOT include the pilot whales, who continue to be regarded as nothing more than a traditional snack, that without any ethical considerations can be hunted and slaughtered in masses.

BUt this IS a step in the right direction, to get these marine animals the protection they deserve.
THIS is the result of a global community and the local community coming together and demanding change.

UPDATE ON THE GRIND - FAEROE ISLANDS September 1st

About 50 Pilot whales were killed today, the 1st of September, in Leynar.
This is the 11th grindadrap of the season.

A Sea Shepherd activist had been harassed by a local while documenting the killing.

He was obstructed from filming by that local who kept blocking and touching his cameras.

At one point another local threw a rope connected to a blowhole-hook onto his camera and then tried to take his mobile phone.

This is truly evil! The killings need to stop altogether!

The Danish and Faerose governments, as well as the Faerose citizens, need to work together to abolish the extreme bloodsport!

A Grindadrap is in progress at the Leynar beach at the Faroe Islands. According to local news a pod of 50-75 whales will be slaughtered today.

UPDATE ON THE GRIND IN THE FAEROE ISLANDS

Seventy seven Pilot whales were slaughtered this past Wednesday,

the 7th of July, in the 5th grindadráp of 2021.

A total of 284 Pilot whales have been killed so far this year.

This is so downright heinous and senseless! This has got to cease once and for all!

The whales don't get a chance this year.

Another grindadrap hunt has been called in the Southern islands of Suduroy in the Faroese archipelago.
Boats from Sandvík and Hvalba are currently with the pod, which has been estimated to be around 70 to 100 pilot whales.

of a pod of 51 long finned pilot whales at Leynar on the central island of Streymoy in the Faroe Islands.
Despite it being gone midnight in the Faroes - at this time of year it is still light and the pod were spotted near Vestmanna and have been quickly driven down towards Leynar's killing bay by 18-20 boats.

Le est une nation connue pour sa cruauté.
Tous les ans a lieu un bain de sang dans la mer: le Grindadrap.
Le massacre de familles entières de dauphins-pilotes.
