Please help us raise awareness and support so that Spirit of the North Kennels can get their dogs back where they belong and living the life they deserve.
Right now they are locked into cement kennels with the BC SPCA awaiting a decision that could take months and will ultimately cost $100,000.00 to resolve.
The SPCA in Ontario has already been ruled as unconstitutional by the courts. It is time BC SPCA is also held accountable for its actions.

Can you imagine people coming onto your property and loading your dogs into a Uhaul truck (with no ventilation) and taking them away under their control because they allege that you are not providing proper care for them.
This recently happened in Salmo, British Columbia to Al MaGaw and his Spirit of the North Kennels. The BC SPCA removed his dogs after years of clean inspections and no issues.
Many Canadian SPCAs and Humane Societies are highly influenced by Animal Rights organizations who target sled kennels and repeatedly file complaints. Some of these complaints are from people who don't even live in Canada and who have not been to the kennels.
Recently in Ontario the powers of these organization has been removed and a Judge has ruled against the them siting that they are "opaque, insular, unaccountable and potentially subject to external influence. They have also been deemed "unconstitutional".
Al is now facing immense expense ($100,000) to get his dogs back from this corrupt organization while they house them in deplorable conditions. It is the middle of sled season and these dogs are being kept in concrete housing without exercise. For decades Al has trained not only sled dogs but also rehabilitated and behavioural trained dogs deemed unfit.
The best way to help is to now donate to this gofundme that was voluntarily started by Farrell Segall a town councillor in Salmo. Funds can also be sent directly to Al through email transfer [email protected]

Any idea what kinds of tracks these are? It seems to me it was a family of coyotes where the parents followed in each other’s tracks. Possibly a large loose dog, with 2 smaller ones.

Moving forward, which in these days is an absolute necessity, we will be trying to raise money for Hotel Homestead. Run by my friend Laura Smith. Likely an Atlantic route, details to follow.
A little bit of a back story - Laura purchased a historic Hotel on the the South Shore of Nova Scotia built circa 1893. Woods Harbour - there are many plans to restore the building as well as, well provide farm to table services. It will be quite extraordinary, please follow the team as we move forward with another good cause.
