Abby's End is a privately funded and run sanctuary for domesticated animals, located in central QLD. We offer a forever home to any animal that ends up with us, either through being abandoned, mistreated, sold or rescued by another organisation. I created this page to share the love and personalities of all my beautiful kids :)

I'm not gonna lie. Being here on my own has been really f* tough over the past year. I am really having to learn to do things on my own, now that I don't have my amazing ex partner to help me with the tricky things.
Today, I mounted a gate by myself.

There are several ex-racing greyhounds needing forever homes asap.
Meet Anika and Sussy. They are both 4 years old and very sweet girls. Affectionate and gentle, they love long walks on the beach and cuddles on the couch.
Not tested with cats, kids, or other small animals, but live with other dogs.
Will be desexed prior to adoption.
If you can give either of them a home message me and I'll put you in touch with the trainer.

Although I don't post about it, there has been a lot of death here recently. I try to just trivialise it and convince myself it's part of the whole cycle, but I do that in order to be able to carry on. Wildlife and other animal carers will know exactly what I mean. It's part of the coping mechanisms we adopt to be able to do what we do. But we don't really believe that.... it is never trivial and it never truly leaves us. And unlike the loss of a human, many people just don't understand our pain.
One day one animal dies that just rocks us to the core and sends the whole wall of protection we have built around us toppling to the ground and leaves us in a sobbing heap.
That happened to me today and I am just struggling to breathe through the heartache.
Grief is not species specific.

It's done! It's complete! The move of all the animals from the old place is finally done!!!
The last 3 arrived today after 8 long months and I am so relieved to have them here with me now.
Satchmo the turkey, and Pepper and Spice, the ducks, are home.🥰
(Rip to Treble, my female turkey who didn't survive the wait 😔)

Our Story

Abby's End is a small, privately funded and run sanctuary for all animals, located in central QLD. It has long been a dream of mine to open a sanctuary and offer a forever home to any animal that ends up with me, either through being abandoned, mistreated, sold or rescued by another organisation. I am also a trained wildlife carer. I work hard to provide my animals with the life and kindness they deserve. I do not have “open days”, but I have no problem allowing people to come and see how the animals live, upon request. I created this page to share the love and personalities of all my beautiful kids :)
