Creating moments and spaces for our kids to make memories is my greatest joy. We’ve been planning to surprise them with their own garden for a while now, which is why I was so excited to learn that just came out with a line of Kids’ Outdoor Tools! Made just for kids- these gardening tools really made the space feel like their own and I love seeing how excited they are to get outside and explore their creativity. Shop Fiskars Kids’ Outdoor Tools on Amazon or Target, or learn more about the full line on Fiskars.com

This past week, I did all of my spring fertilizing for my trees that are breaking dormancy. This is a Mandarinquat wich is a mix between a kumquat and mandarin orange. They are so pretty, and are definitely on the tart side. I like to suck the juice out of them for a little immunity boost. What fruit trees do you have, or would you like to get?

Omg I’m growing peanuts for my first time! Peanuts are not actually nuts, they are legumes, like lentils. They can be started from seed 5 to 8 weeks before your last frost. Plant the seed 1.5-2 inches deep, water, and put under grow lights. In about a week, they will begin to sprout and can be transplanted into the garden approximately two weeks after your last average frost date, or when the soil is between 60 and 65° 🙌🏻🥜

The garden is a great teacher of perspective. Take this picture for example. This shot was taken yesterday, and it doesn’t look like there’s very much happening, right? Kinda empty, not much going on? I have spent hours in here over the past few days planting seeds etc. and within several weeks it will begin to explode.
A few life reminders-.
Sometime our efforts are not seen right away, it doesn’t mean that they aren’t alive and growing. Be patient! Typically it takes time for things to germinate and produce abundantly…not just in the garden but in life.
Don’t judge what you see today as where you will be tomorrow. Sometimes growth happens in a secret place that can be dark and even hidden. Be encouraged! There are things growing inside of you and your life that are mighty and powerful. Nurture the soil of “you” so that those things sprout and shine brightly when it’s time! 👩‍🌾💚. You are loved!

Did you know that “laying” hens stop or slow down laying eggs in the fall and winter? It’s because the daylight hours are shorter and the temperatures are colder. This signals tge hens bodies to rest. If you add light and heat for them, their egg production will be better. I do not do that, so I haven’t been getting eggs consistently for several months, but it seems like we’re back in action 🥚💙 I didn’t know this until I started keeping chickens, did you know that?
