Puddleglum would love to come live with you! He can't be shown but could be a nice pet!

I have a bunny friend who could bring him to Omaha soon if you happen to be out that way. We also MAY be willing to send one of our older show team prospect Jr's if you twist our arm! Mini Lops only. Our Netherlands are busy being moms or getting ready to show next month!

Another Congratulations goes out to Grace and Talon Carter who showed a couple of Zanger bunnies at the York County Fair this past week. Purples and Smiles all around! These kids have been doing a fantastic job raising their rabbits and it truly shows!

I've got inside info that they will be breeding these 2 together very soon and a few of these babies might be looking for new homes later this fall. So, keep your eyes peeled if you're looking for some very loved on potential show bunnies! 😉

Congratulations to Peyton Earnest and Zanger's Sween for winning Reserve Champion Fancy Rabbit at the Merrick Co. Fair today!

Congratulations to Emma Beede for winning Reserve Champion Junior Rabbit Showman in the Otoe County Fair with Zanger's Carl (aka "Timmy")! Timmy himself also won a purple.

Thanks to Emma and her family for working so hard and taking great care of one of our former buns! We love to hear updates like this!

EDIT: He is leaving soon!

Lester is looking to hop! He could be a show bunny or just a pet. His parents are both registered Grand champions and pretty amazing! Zanger's Angelica x Kitsemble's J11 (King Jupiter). Lester has his mom's shoulders and width which is amazing! His body is very bulky and he also has nice fur. I don't love his ears or lack of proper depth.

We love hearing how our home gown babies do after they leave us ESPECIALLY when they get to be shown in 4H and ARBA shows by their new owners!

Congratulations to Felix De LA Cruz and Zanger's Pearl who just won Grand Champion Jr. Doe at the Hamilton County Fair today! This sweet boy and his sister Eva, who also won a purple today with a Zanger bun, have been doing such a fantastic job with their bunnies! Thanks for sharing the news, Annie!

Edit: Puddleglum is gone.

We are going to let several buns go to new homes soon. I will make 2 posts... one with ones that could be shown and THIS one with more PET QUALITY buns.

These 2 are Charlie marked mini lops so can't be shown for lack of color. Priced to move.

As always, located in Central City.

EDIT: TAKEN!

It is time for Bluebell to move on to a new show family. She has had a fantastic show career here earning 6 show legs! This includes a couple of BOB and BOS wins. She has also had several litters of babies for us and raised all her babies wonderfully!

Her show career is now over due to having a broken toe. She needs to go to a home that will use her as a brood doe. She is 2 years old and can still produce several more quality litters... especially if you've got a good Himi or Siamese Sable buck to breed her with!

Let me know if you are interested!

UPDATED WITH ONLY THE RABBITS STILL AVAILAVLE

Looking for new homes!

Mini Lops!

Puddleglum - Black Charlie buck. Cannot be shown due to lack of color but he does have promising type so could eventually be a breeder. Or a pet. Out of Bundles of Bunnies Burton (2 legs) x RGC Zanger's Eliza (4 legs)

Her 1st rabbit show is in the books! ✅️

Anna spent the entire day in Parker, SD with me helping to show 9 of her siblings rabbits (since they were all preoccupied with soccer camp and a birthday party!) And she is hooked! Everyone commented that she did such a good job handling all those big rabbits! I have a feeling we will be going to rabbit shows for a very very long time.

EDIT: GONE!

Up for discussion:

Zanger's Susan
Solid Black (SUPER STEEL) Mini Lop Sr. DOE
DOB: 12-8-22
Registered Grand Champion with 5 ARBA legs including a 2nd Reserve in Show

She has successfully raised 2 litters and is looking to be a BROOD DOE in a new barn since she has recently developed a white spot on her dewlap since having her last litter. This means her show career is over but she has very nice genetics to pass on.

Located in Central City.

EDIT: GONE

Looking to hop.

Theodore is a buck I bought from a rabbit friend at the Lincoln show a few weeks ago. I had wanted him because he is Thor's son (multiple Best in Show winner) and Emma's grandson (multiple BOB winner). Both born here. But after giving him a few weeks to settle in and evaluating him I just don't think he will end up working for us as a breeder.. Mostly it is his shoulders I don't care for.

So, Theodore needs to move on. Will be priced to move.

Results from Easter weekend's show in Lincoln!

Will only brought 2 mini lops and Emma brought 3 Netherland Dwarfs and we were still able to come away with some pretty big prizes! We are so excited and thankful!

Youth Show A - Will's rabbit " Bear" (AKA Bundles of Bunnies Burton) won BOSV. This was his 1st leg ever!

Youth Show B - Emma's Himi Netherland Dwarf Doe "Nelly" shocked us by winning BOB! This was her 1st leg ever, too!

* Also, another highlight was that a rabbit we had sold to a new Mini lop breeder last fall (Hamilton) was there competing and he ended up winning BOB! We were so excited for them since Hamilton had been bred, born, and raised here!

Open Netherland Dwarf Specialty - Emma's Otter Buck "Perloo" shocked us again by winning BOS against all the adult breeders in a show with 83 other Netherlands! Another leg to add under his belt!

Open Mini Lop Specialty - Bear took on all the adult and youth breeders rabbits and ended up winning BOS! ✅️ for leg #2!

Overall it was a great day for our buns and for ourselves as we got to hang with all of our rabbit friends.

Final baby count = 21!

We currently have 4 Netherland Dwarf and 17 mini lop babies all aged 3 days to 1 month old right now! Super excited to watch them grow and see which ones will be part of our fall show team!

We will probably breed 1 more mini lop and 1-2 more Netherlands in the next month or 2. So this will be a baby heavy summer! Let us know if you are looking for anything show quality and we may be able to help you out!

I'm really proud of Emma for specifically taking the time to work with a couple of her more "problem children" who really could shine on the show tables if they would just cooperate better! Fingers crossed! 🤞🏻

03/11/2024

This weekend I took Emma and Will up to Tyndall, SD for a rabbit show! It was a smaller show but there were very good numbers in both of our breeds and they even had a Specialty Show for Mini Lops to show a 3rd time at the end! Everything was very well run and we even made it home before dark. Win, win!

We only took 4 Netherland Dwarfs and 5 Mini Lops. The Mini Lop competition was very stiff and while our buns got very good comments and placed mid to upper rankings for their classes, for the most part we ended up getting smoked and none of our animals earned any legs. That's ok, though. Those BOB winners that beat us were amazing and ended up going on to win BIS both times!! We just came back with more resolve to work harder and are excited for all the babies we've got in the nest boxes currently.

Netherland Dwarfs was a whole different story! This was Emma's day to shine. In show A , her Himi Doe, Bluebell, won BOB and her Black Otter buck, Perloo, won BOS. (Both born and raised here). In Show B, Bluebell won BOS and the judge tried really hard to get Perloo to pose correctly when he was choosing BOB but Perloo was just done so he went with a different buck for the winner. He said Perloo just basically did himself in but really is a great animal and we agree! So, 3 legs for our Netherlands! And this officially makes Bluebell our winningest winner of them all with 6 legs total! She's still got it even after having and raising several litters of babies!

We look forward to our next show at the end of this month in Lincoln!

Add 3 more babies to the count!

This morning Angelica, registered Grand Champion Mini Lop (broken black) gave birth to 5 (sadly 2 were born dead) huge and beautiful babies that will most likely look just like her! The daddy is Kitsemble's J11 (King Jupiter) who is also a registered Grand Champion. (Gold tipped steel in color). Really looking forward to having baby Mini Lops in the barn again!

Susan is also due today so fingers crossed for more healthy babies to come!!!

The baby drought is over! On Friday our Siamese Sable Netherland Dwarf doe, Stacey, gave birth to these 3 cuties! She is being a great 1st time mama. It's hard to tell at this point but I THINK we've got 2 Siamese Sables and 1 Smoke Pearl baby! Can't wait to see them grow!

Nelly never gave birth so that is sad, BUT we've got 2 Mini Lop mamas due tomorrow! So stay tuned...

Educational Post:

Do rabbits crave Friendships and do better with a buddy?

Before I answer this, let me just say that when we had our very 1st bun I actively sought out a 2nd bun of the same gender thinking the 1st would need/want someone to cuddle with in the same hutch during winter to keep warm! So, I get it. But, I am SO GLAD the breeder I was talking with took the time to explain what could happen if I went through with that plan.

Answer: No, rabbits are not communal like humans and do not do well when forced to share space with another rabbit. I'm sure there are always exceptions to this... Especially if they are given a really big space but I'd say 99%of the time they will eventually fight.

Below is a screenshot of a more thought out answer to this question that explains why this is so. I thought it was very helpful and interesting so wanted to share.

https://www.facebook.com/104837841764096/posts/147526017495278/?app=fbl

BENEFITS OF APPLE CIDER VINEGAR TO RABBITS 🐰

DOSAGE: Add 1 - 2 teaspoons of Apples Cider Vinegar(ACV) per 1 gallon of clean water and give it daily or few times a month.

• ACV helps reduce the ammonia smell of rabbit urine.

• Prevents urinary tract problems like bladder sludge (from excess calcium), reducing infections because the organisms can not live in acidic urine.

• Keeps the body pH regulated, clearing up any skin infections or weepy eyes.

• Increases the nutrient absorption capabilities of the G.I. tract as well as helping the whole digestive process.

• Boosts fertility rates and may result in more female kits in a litter.

• Makes the does more willing to breed.

• Makes rabbits unattractive to fleas and mites by making the rabbit”smell” off, making it a great repellent.

• Extensive historical use and veterinary studies indicate that apple cider vinegar added to feed or water can cure a mastitis infection and reduce the transmission rates of the bacteria.

• One part vinegar and one part water can be sprayed on [any pet’s] fur and rubbed in generously to the skin. Saturate the entire coat, and continue every day for a few days to a week; any flea infestation will disappear.

• Can be used as a cleaner for cages and crocks as well as keeping the green algae from growing in water bottles in the summer.

• Known for keeping fur softer and shinier.

• If bringing your rabbit to a show or transporting them, ACV water will taste the same as the water from home no matter what tap you use.

• Rabbits like the taste of ACV and drink more water, resulting in better hydrated rabbits.

• It’s safe to give to pregnant does, great for rabbits at any life stage.

• Adding ACV to water changes the pH level of the water, lowering the freezing point of water (a handy benefit when you live in the mountains at 8,000 ft. elevation!).

02/11/2024

Zanger's Book Bunnies (and the children who belong to them) had a great day at the rabbit show in El Dorado, KS yesterday! There was tough competition and large class numbers in both Mini Lops and Netherland Dwarfs which is what we like to see! Here are some highlights.

Show A - Mini Lops

Zanger's Susan and Zanger's Hwin took 1st and 2nd place out of 13 Solid Sr. Does! Zanger's Angelica also took 1st out of all the Broken Sr. Does. Both Susan and Angelica won another leg for this and when on to win BOS and BOSV respectively! It always feels good to have 2 of the last 4 rabbits left on the table belonging to you!

Netherland Dwarfs -Show A

* We were pleasantly surprised in how this show went for the girls. Zanger's Perloo (our Black Otter Jr. Buck) won BOV against all the other Otters on the table. This was huge for us because he is our 1st otter ever to show and usually Otters are the toughest variety to win at and have the biggest classes! Perloo won a leg for this and we are so pleased with him!

* Another huge win was that Zanger's Nelly (Sr. Himi Doe) finally beat her mom, Zanger's Bluebell, on the tables, and was BOV & BOSG in the AOV category. In the past, Bluebell has done really well - pretty sure she has 5 legs and was always called a "showy doe.". Well, Nelly looked even better yesterday and so our breeding choices have just been confirmed that we are moving in a great direction!

Show B - Mini Lops

* Zanger's Eliza was the one who made it the farthest in this round winning BOV in the Broken category. She and her sister, Angelica have always been neck and neck on the show tables so this isn't surprising. She won her 3rd leg for this and will now be Granded like her sister!

* Hwin beat Susan this time in the solid class but they were 2nd and 3rd (out of 13) so no legs earned. But still great placing!

Show B - Netherland Dwarfs

* More of the same. Haha! I don't quite remember but no legs were earned this round. Nelly and Perloo still placed very similar.

Overall a great day for our buns!

Well, SAD NEWS... It seems that NEITHER of our Mini Lop does took this last round because neither have had babies and are well past their due date by now. 😭. The lack of babies around here is killing me! BUT... I have rebred both plus there are 2 Netherland Dwarf does bred as well so here is hoping for a nice Spring baby boom early next month!!!

And on a positive note, we are looking forward to heading down to Kansas this weekend for the El Dorado rabbit show. It has been awhile so this will be good for us! Pictured below is Zanger's Hwin, who seemed to be our top Mini Lop doe at the last show we were at. We will see how she holds up to the competition down in KS!
