One more week West Virginians! This Iowa stud is mounted on an OTS pedestal form. With bow season fast approaching I’d like to share a little advice. Whether you choose to have that trophy mounted or not, the photos you take will last a life time. Most clients like to share their photos along with their stories. Some photos are magnificent while others?…well cringe worthy. Here’s a couple of tips to help you honor your trophy.
#1 put its tongue back in its mouth.
#2 wipe off excess blood
#3 get behind the animal, don’t straddle it.
#4 tuck the legs under it so it appears bedded with its head up.
#5 prop or hold the head up by supporting it below the jaw ear area or by one antler. You worked hard for that bone don’t hide it with your big mitts.
#6 back ground is huge! Take your pics in the field from differing angles sunsets, mountains, colorful leaves all add to the photo. No truck pictures unless that’s how you harvested him, same goes for beer cans.
#7 if you hunt alone as I often do, pull your buck over to a rub and prop his head up on it, feel free to include your weapon.
#8 we live in the digital age with great cameras on most cell phones, take lots of pics and you can delete the ones you don’t like.
You put in countless hours scouting, checking trail cameras, setting up tree stands, and hunting. Makes no sense to rush now. Take ten minutes to create the memories that you can proudly show your grand kids. Good luck
