Minis aka back beakers 🤭😂

Meet Sydney 🐴🖤

booked in for his very first sheath clean yesterday and let’s just say he brought plenty of cheeky pony attitude with him 🤭

He had quite a lot of built-up pe**le crust, which is really common in Shetlands, this can get really sharp and crusty which makes it incredibly uncomfortable for these little guys

With a bit of patience and a gentle approach, we got him all clean and comfortable 🙏🏼

Regular checks and cleans aren’t just for the big horses, our smaller friends need them too 💙

A very big bean removed today from a horse who’d never had his sheath cleaned before 👀🐴

He wasn’t showing any major signs that anything was wrong - which is actually quite common!
But after chatting more with his owner once the bean was removed, they realised that upon reflection, there had been some subtle indicators - he does short little wees and rarely drops his 🍆

These little signs can be easy to overlook, especially when they don’t seem dramatic, but they can be your horse’s quiet way of telling you something isn’t quite right 🙏🏼

This is exactly why routine sheath cleaning is so important, even if your horse isn’t showing obvious symptoms. Luckily for this chap he was booked in and will never get a bean form that big again 👏🏼💙

Lovely Stevie was booked in for his sheath clean recently, but we quickly discovered a big, hard, solid bean that was causing him quite a bit of discomfort - poor boy 😩

On my first visit he made it very clear he wasn’t comfortable letting me remove it and that’s absolutely okay 🙏🏼
We decided for his stress levels and safety the best option was to have him sedated, which although is rare sometimes it’s needed 💙

Last Friday, with the support of Henry from Green Veterinary Equine, Stevie was safely sedated so we could work together to remove the bean. It was a big one, and no wonder he was sore!

This is a great reminder that some cases need a team approach 👏🏼
Every horse is different, and making sure they stay comfortable, safe and stress free is always the priority 🐴✨

✨ A little moment of gratitude - long post strap in 😂 ✨

Nearly 4 years ago I took the leap into working as a professional hygienist and not a week goes by pretty much without someone asking me
“Is this your only job?” or “Do you really have enough clients to do this full time?”

The answer is a very proud yes 💙

The job gave me the chance to leave my safe, secure full time job 2 years ago to follow my passion – helping horses and their owners with something that makes a real difference to their comfort and wellbeing

Along the way, I’ve also joined the equine hygienist association, continuing to learn and grow in my profession, Had people come shadow me for the day to see how I run my business, I’ve done several talks for events and equine colleges hoping to raise more awareness and knowledge around this industry and have over 15k followers across my socials with multiple videos and reels reaching over a million views on different social platforms hoping to educate more people (with the help from the best Captured by Loz) 🐴

This job has given me the freedom to work for myself all while balancing life as a mum to my gorgeous little girl, being a horse mum, and still showing up for friends and family 🙏🏼🫶🏼

September 2025 has been my busiest month to date and I’m fully booked right through until the middle of November, with even March 2026 already nearly fully booked too 🥹🙏🏼

I’m honestly so so so grateful to every single client, both new and regular, who has trusted me with their horses over the years.
You’ve made this journey possible and I genuinely can’t believe how much it’s grown - my silly lil w***y washin buisness who’d of thought 🤣🥹🐴💫

If you’d like to book in, please message quickly to secure your appointment for your gelding, stallion or mare 🐴🦄📔

Here’s to many more years of doing what I love 🥰

From the bottom of my heart - thank you 🙏🏼💙

When you bring a new horse home, it’s natural to expect they’ve had the standard saddle fitter, farrier, dentist, and physio recently checked but what about having their sheath cleaned and checked? 🧼 ✅

don’t forget about their intimate health care too 🐴✨

Stanley has been in his lovely new home for 6 weeks and was booked for a routine sheath clean and check last weekend
We found and removed a large bean, which could easily have started causing him discomfort if left unchecked 🫘🥺🙏🏼

Just like the rest of your horse’s routine care, sheath cleaning should be done every 6-12 months to keep them healthy, comfortable, and performing at their best.
It’s not just hygiene – it’s an important part of the bigger picture of horse welfare 💙

Last Saturdays little client Thomas proved that size doesn’t matter when it comes to beans… 🫘
this Shetland had one of the biggest beans I’ve seen in a while! 😲🐴

Even the smallest ponies can quietly build up large beans without showing any obvious signs 🥺

Left unchecked, they can cause real discomfort, changes in behaviour, or even issues under saddle and in-hand - luckily his owner booked him in with me for a freshen and we are going to keep rechecking him every 6 months now 🙏🏼

Routine sheath cleaning means these hidden problems are spotted and sorted before they cause trouble – keeping horses and ponies of all sizes happy and comfortable 🐴✅🧼🫘

Handsome 4 year old Pilot had his very first sheath clean today 🐴✨

Being a young Thoroughbred, he had already built up quite a bit of pe**le crust (very common in this breed) and we also found and removed a medium-sized bean too 🫘

At the start, Pilot was a little nervous and reactive easily getting himself worked up and wanted to leg lift, back come up and fidget – completely understandable for his first time 🥺🙏🏼

Rather than forcing him, I allowed him to gently move around me while I worked, following his lead and keeping things calm and positive.
With patience, reassurance and time, he soon realised there was nothing to worry about and by the end he was standing foot perfect, relaxed, and even seemed to enjoy his clean 💙

It’s always lovely to see youngsters gain confidence during these early routines. A positive first experience sets them up for a lifetime of stress free sheath care and ensures they stay healthy and comfortable aswell as giving homework to his owner to help build his confidence and desensitise him 👏🏼🥰

What a boy 💙

This lovely gelding was booked in after having inconsistent on/off unexplained lameness issues that had been a bit of a mystery 🐎

During his sheath clean we discovered and removed a very big bean tucked away – when they grow in size they can sometimes cause discomfort and even affect movement 🐴✨

In some horses, this discomfort can present as resistance under saddle, reluctance to go forwards, changes in stride length, or even intermittent lameness. Once removed, this boy was immediately more comfortable – a huge relief for the horse and his owner literally messaged the next day to say she lunged him and he was back to his normal bouncy self and looked sooo much better - result 👏🏼🐴💙

This is a perfect reminder of why sheath cleaning isn’t just about hygiene – it’s also about spotting and resolving hidden issues that can have a big impact on our horses’ wellbeing and performance.
