On July 31st, Premier K9 of Middle TN will be closing its doors after serving the Middle TN community for 2 years. Founder and trainer, Jennifer Goldberg, will be relocating to Madison, Wisconsin. Once she is settled in Madison, she will be available via zoom and facetime, among other options, to continue to provide you with training and guidance.
For in-person training in the Nashville area, Jennifer can provide you with references for trainers in the area who she thinks will be best serve your requested training needs.

Hope everyone out there in the land of Premier K9 of Middle TN is doing well and having fun with their pups. Most of you know I have learned a lot from Canadian and World Agility Champion Susan Garrett. She is not only a great competitor she is also a great trainer of all things dog behavior. My first dog, Daisy, needed space. Huckleberry needs space. I will always advocate for them. I will help you find your voice so you can advocate for your dog's needs.

My dog doesn't want to say hi.

Period.

Full stop.

No, it doesn't matter that your dog is friendly.
No, we don't care that you've owned dogs your entire life.
No, I don't owe you an explanation for why he needs space.
No, I don't need to defend my dog's boundaries to satisfy you.

My dog needs space. That's a complete sentence. That's all you need to know.

It's your responsibility as a human to hear that and respect that. There could be 100 different reasons why I am making this request - those reasons don't matter.

Please respect our space. Respect our words. Respect our boundaries.

My dog doesn't want to say hi.

All of my students hear me talk about the power of placement of reinforcement. Here is the proof it works: Huckleberry is now sitting in the chair, in the snow, waiting for his treat-even when I hadn't even asked him to go there. He just knows good things come to him when he is in his chair, snow or no snow.

Getting ready for teaching at a hunt test seminar. New toys, bag and whistle. The boys are very excited. I will be teaching teams who are new to field events!! Most of the students are Finnegan's pups. He is looking forward to demonstrating the skills necessary for passing instinct hunt tests using positive reinforcement methods.

Finnegan and I spent the weekend in Mississippi at an agility seminar. He and I enjoyed time together without that pesky little older brother around. We were able to play tourist before we headed home. Wewent to Waveland Beach. He had a fabulous time!!

Fin crossed off two more states on this trip! At 5 years and 3/4, Finnegan has been in all 5 Great Lakes, Canada, 26 states and has now swam in the Gulf of Mexico. He is one well-travelled pup!

Think about this while celebrating the holidays with your family and friends. Your pup can easily become overwhelmed by the holiday cheer. He could hide, nip, snarl. Keep him safe and protect him. Putting him in an ex-pen, behind a gate or in a crate to keep him and your family safe is a plan for success.

Played a little rally this weekend. Huck played yesterday, earning 2 RAE legs. We scratched him today-too many sits for his backend to do.

Finnegan earned his Rally Excellent title today. The really hard course that even RACH folks were worried about was a shining moment for Finnegan. He earned a 99! It was glorious with beautiful engagement and focus.
