International Animal Rights Day
Today is International Animal Rights Day.
It’s a day to reflect on our attitudes toward animals and remind ourselves that they deserve basic rights to life, freedom, and safety—just like we do. By recognising animals as sentient beings who feel pain, fear, love, and joy, we take a step toward creating a more compassionate society where they are respected and protected.
There are simple actions we can take in our daily lives to help protect animal rights, as outlined in this post.
Animals and humans share this planet as equal residents. Let’s work together to ensure they live the life they deserve, free from suffering. Our small actions and increased awareness can make a world of difference for them.

It is completely natural to feel anxious about leaving your beloved animal behind. This emotion shows how much you love and care for them.
However, it is important to learn to manage these emotions. Constantly worrying is not healthy—neither for you nor for your animal.
The key lies in your mindset. Learning to cope with separation and shifting how you view time apart from your beloved animal can significantly improve the experience for both you and your pet.
Let's make separation anxiety a thing of the past and ensure you and your animal enjoy a happy and relaxed life which is free from anxiety!

In my previous post, I wrote about the impact of your mindset on your animals.
Pet parenting is a deeply rewarding experience, but it can also be quite challenging at times. The responsibility of caring for another living being, combined with the unpredictability of animals, can sometimes feel overwhelming.
When you feel stressed or overwhelmed, it’s a sign that something isn’t quite right and needs your attention. It’s an opportunity for reflection and a prompt to take action, whether that’s adjusting your routine, seeking support, or making time for self-care.
Remember, your stress affects your animals too. They are highly sensitive to your emotions and can mirror your energy. For the wellbeing of both you and your animals, it’s important to acknowledge your stress, identify its source, and take steps to manage it. By doing so, you create a calmer environment where both you and your pets can thrive.

Do you worry or feel guilty that your life’s stresses might be weighing on your animals?
Life comes with its share of challenges, and the way you handle them can affect your animals more than you might realise.
When life is tough, it can be hard to stay positive. But that doesn’t mean you should give in to the negativity and let it overwhelm you.
You may have heard the saying, “thoughts become things.” Your thoughts have a powerful influence on your daily experiences. That’s why it’s crucial to focus on your mindset.
Cultivating the right mindset is a game changer. As you start to work on your mindset, you’ll notice shifts in your experiences, and in turn, so will your animals’.
If you truly love your animals, remember to love yourself too and take care of your mindset. It’s one of the best ways to care for them.

Are You Ready To Welcome An Animal Into Your LIfe?
I have been telling my friends for years that I want to get another dog, yet it hasn't happened. Their response is usually, "Mika, you've been saying that for years! Why don’t you have one yet?"
Well, here’s why.
Welcoming an animal is a HUGE responsibility. It’s not like going to the supermarket and picking out an apple.
There are many things to consider seriously.
I must admit, welcoming my kitty, Joyous, was not planned. He was an unexpected birthday present, and I was not prepared for it at all. Luckily, things are working out perfectly with Joyous, but I can't rely on luck to strike twice if I were to welcome a doggie sibling for him.
Working as a volunteer at an animal shelter, I am fully aware of how a lack of commitment from humans can affect so many innocent animals.
That’s why it’s so important to carefully consider whether you’re truly ready to welcome an animal into your life.
If you’re 100% sure that you’re ready, that’s absolutely fantastic! But if you're not, that’s OK. You don’t have to get one right now. The right time will come. After all, good things come to those who wait. The perfect animal will find you if you wait for them with an open heart.

World Kindness Day
Today is World Kindness Day.
It’s very important to be kind to others (of course, including animals!), but we tend to forget who we need to be kind to the most.
OURSELVES!!
Somehow, we tend to find it easier to be kind to others, but be a harsh critic of ourselves (including myself!) We forget that we deserve our kindness. Why can’t we be kinder to ourselves?
Have you ever paid attention to what you say to yourself? Would you talk to your friends like you talk to yourself?
As a pet parent, you want to make sure that your animals are happy and healthy. And I’m sure you treat them with love and kindness. That’s exactly what they want for you to do for yourself. They want you to stay happy and healthy by treating yourself with kindness.
Today, be extra kind to yourselves and think about wonderful things you do. You may be surprised how wonderful you really are!

What It Means To Be Kind To Animals
Animals experience joy, curiosity, and even fear just like we do.
Being kind to them is more than just meeting their basic needs; it’s about nurturing them with love, patience, respect, and understanding. Kindness can be as simple as speaking softly, giving them space when they’re anxious, or ensuring they have a safe and comfortable living environment.
Choosing not to harm them is another vital way we can show compassion. Whether it's selecting cruelty-free products or gently guiding an insect out of your home, we have the power to make kinder choices for all living beings.
If you see a lost animal, consider taking proactive steps to help them find their way back home. A simple act of kindness can bring comfort to a frightened animal and peace to their worried owners.
Supporting local animal shelters is also a wonderful way to show kindness to animals. Whether through donations, volunteering, or adoption, your actions give animals a chance to find their happy forever homes.
Let’s also remember to respect wildlife and protect their habitats. We share this planet with countless animals, and by caring for the environment, we’re safeguarding their lives as well.
Most importantly, speak up for animals who can’t speak for themselves. Advocate for their well-being, report cruelty when you see it, and help others see the value in every life.
Don’t underestimate the power of a simple act of kindness. It makes a huge difference for all animals.

Joy of Living with a Dog
The best way to describe life with a dog is that it’s like having a never-ending source of love, laughter, and comfort. From the happy tail wags that greet you at the door to the spontaneous antics that make you laugh, dogs remind us how sweet life can be.
Every walk is an adventure with a dog by your side—sniffing every leaf, chasing after a ball, and exploring as if it was the first time.
But the best part of living with a dog is the quiet, cozy moments when your dog curls up next to you or on your lap. When my beloved dog was still in her physical body, I loved bedtime when it was just us. We lay down on the bed together, and I told her about my day or shared whatever emotion I was feeling. Those moments were so special—there was no need for words, just my dog’s warm presence, making everything feel a little brighter.
Moreover, dogs have a magical way of teaching us to appreciate the little things in life, such as a warm spot in the sun, the thrill of a brisk walk, or the joy of greeting a familiar face. They remind us that sometimes happiness is as simple as a belly rub, a soft patch of grass, or a quiet moment spent with someone you love. With every wag, snuggle, and playful bark, dogs help us find joy in everyday moments that might otherwise go unnoticed.

Joy Of Living With A Cat
Living with a cat is like having a little comedian, therapist, and zen master wrapped into one furry bundle. They bring a perfect mix of laughter, quiet companionship, and unexpected moments of pure joy.
Whether it's the 3am zoomies or the way they sprawl across your keyboard at just the wrong time, cats have a talent for keeping life interesting!
One of my favourite moments with my ginger cat is watching him sprint at top speed and leap to catch a ball attached to a string as I swing it around. His eyes widen, fully focused on his target, the ball—a reminder that beneath that sweet exterior lies a tiny tiger, always ready for action!
Cats teach us to appreciate life’s simple pleasures—a sunny nap spot, a quiet evening snuggle, a slow blink that says, “I love you.”
If you’re lucky enough to have a feline friend, you know the joy of these small, magical moments. Life with a cat is pure bliss (with a touch of chaos, LOL). Personally, I wouldn’t have it any other way!

5 Tips To Encourage Cats To Drink Water
Is your cat drinking enough water?
It might surprise you, but dehydration is a frequent concern among pet owners—and it’s a valid worry because it can be quite serious.
When dehydration isn’t addressed, it can cause various health issues, such as reduced circulation, problems with multiple organs, difficulty in maintaining body temperature, heart rhythm disturbances, and neurological complications.
To keep your cat well-hydrated, it’s crucial to keep track of how much water they are drinking. If it seems like your cat isn’t consuming enough, it’s time to take some steps to address the situation.
This is particularly crucial during periods of hot weather or when your cat is feeling under the weather. Generally speaking, cats require around 60-80 ml of water per kilogram of their body weight daily. However, their specific needs can vary depending on factors such as the type of food they eat (wet or dry), climate, their activity levels, and their age or life stage.
If you’re worried about your cat’s water intake, it’s always best to consult your veterinarian. Additionally, don’t forget that Animal Communication can provide valuable insights into why your cat might be reluctant to drink enough water.

5 Tips To Encourage Your Dog To Drink Water
Is your dog drinking enough water?
You may be surprised, but dehydration is a common issue that worries many pet parents—and rightly so, as it is a serious condition.
If left untreated, dehydration can lead to health problems such as poor circulation, dysfunction in multiple organs, difficulty regulating body temperature, cardiac arrhythmias, and neurological issues.
In order to ensure they are well hydrated, it is important for us to monitor their water intake. If your dog does not seem to be drinking enough water, you need to start taking some actions.
This is particularly important during hot weather or when your dog is unwell. As a reference point, dogs generally need 60-80 ml of water per kilogram of body weight each day. However, it also depends on many factors, including the content of their diet (wet or dry), weather conditions, activity levels and stage of life.
If concerned, the first step is always to consult with your vet. However, Animal Communication is another way to find out why your dog is not drinking.

Sings of dehydration in cats and dogs
In my previous post, I wrote about how dehydration can affect our animals’ health.
