Hello, I am Cairo! I am a dashing boy who is as regal as a pharaoh...okay, maybe not regal. I’m as goofy as you can get! I can play rough and rowdy at times, but my pals have been teaching me to keep my teefies to myself and how to sit and wait patiently for a treat. I’ve spent time in a foster home and am almost fully housebroken. I’ve done well with the few dogs I’ve gotten to play with but might be a bit much for a kitty. After I get some zoomies out I will curl up on my doggy bed with a good toy and nap. You can meet me at Alachua County Animal Resources any day between Tuesday and Saturday 🐶
Post-Idalia party in the play yards!
To close out National Dog Day, we bring you Nefertiti. This girl knows how to cool off on a hot day!

Hope to see you today between 10:30am and 5:30pm.
💦 Meet BUBBLES! This water-loving pup is ready to make a splash in your heart (and pool!) 💦 This adorable 3-year-old is dog friendly, absolutely loves belly rubs and lives for treats! A volunteer who spent time with her reported back that she’s ridiculously sweet and overall a really happy girl who’s very, very people oriented. We’d love to see her in a forever home with a kiddie pool of her own. Stop by Alachua County Animal Resources to meet her Tuesday through Saturday or read more about her here: “Oh, hello! I’m Bubbles! As my name suggests, I’m a bubbly girl who is so much fun to spend time with. I can be a bit shy with new situations, but I am working on being brave! I am dog friendly, though I prefer respectful dogs who can give space when I need it (I ask them to respect my personal space bubble). Once I get to know you, I will greet you with full on wiggles, and my little feet start tapping uncontrollably when I see you. I LIVE for belly rubs and will flop around like a fish, following you around and asking for more rubs. I have a very cute lil howl and will sometimes arooo at you to let you know I am waiting for my belly rubs. I do know sit and love treats, and I’m in the process of learning down and paw, too! My dream is to have my very own family family - don’t burst my bubble, ask to meet me today!”

This is Gramps. He somehow found himself at the county shelter during his golden years. He’s not too happy about being here and we’d love to help change that. Do you have any room in your home for this very special boy? You can about this fantastic senior boy below and come in today to fall in love! 🐾"Why, hello there. My name is Gramps! I'm an older fella at 10 and a bit of a silver fox, but hopefully you don't mind my wisdom highlights! I may be older than some of the young whippersnappers around these parts, but let me tell ya, I've got a lot of life in me and so much love left to give! And besides, isn't spending time with grandpa always the best? We can read the paper, watch the ole ball game, enjoy some pancakes in the morning together. I also enjoy prancing around the yard and strutting my stuff, and after a good stroll I will sit right in front of you and gaze lovingly into your eyes with nothing but adoration. I'm very well-mannered, and my pals describe me as charming, gentle, mature, treat motivated, and totally connected to people. Let's gaze into each other's eyes and talk about life together soon, okay? P.S. This is Gramps. Am I doing this Facebook thing right?"
This little Mako shark is @animalresourcesandcare’s longest-term resident. Day after day, he patiently sits in the front of his kennel, greeting everyone with a big smile and wagging tail and cheers on his friends when they get adopted. He has gone several weeks without anyone asking to meet him, so one of our volunteers decided to take him out on his very own Doggie Day Outing. And boy did he do great! We’d really love for someone to take a chance on him — he has so much love to offer. Read about this silly boy below and come in today to meet him! 🐾🦈“I’m Mako, and I’m here to make-yo life so much better! When I first arrived at ACAR, it took me a little while to come out of my shell, I came from a very sad cruelty case and still wear a few scars from my past life, but I am very excited to report that I have learned life can be great and have made lots and lots of friends! I’m a quirky lil fellow and like to store my treats for later, much like a squirrel. I can also bounce when I get happy, much like a kangaroo. I love to play with toys and roll around with a soccer ball, and I’ve made quite a few doggo friends, too! Sometimes when I’m having fun, I forget to keep my teefers to myself, much like a lil shark, but I’ve been working on my manners and turn into such a snuggle bunny after we play. If you love to laugh and don’t take life too seriously, I may be the pup for you! Thanks to the generosity of the Petco Love Foundation, I go home with a $100 Petco gift card!”
