Garlic is essential for us and the goats too. A garlic clove a few times a month helps them with their parasite resistance.

If I've ever mentioned Doe Code. This is a good explanation of goats and kidding.🐐🐐❤️. This may also apply to Greta the cow.

For those wondering what is:
(Found on web years ago, author unknown)

The doe's secret code of honor is as old as goats themselves and is the species best kept secret. No doe shall ever kid before its time. (Its time being determined by the following factors):

1- No kid shall be born until total chaos has been reached by all involved. Your owner's house must be a wreck, their family hungry and desperate for clean clothes, and their social life nonexistent.

2- "Midwives" must reach the babbling fool status before you kid out. Bloodshot eyes, tangled hair and the inability to form a sentence mean the time is getting close.

3- For every bell, beeper, camera or whistle they attach to you, kidding must be delayed by at least one day for each item. If they use an audio monitor, one good yell per hour will keep things interesting.

4- If you hear the words, "She's nowhere near ready. She'll be fine while we're away for the weekend," Wait until they load the car, then begin pushing!

5- Owner stress must be at an all time high! If you are in the care of someone else, ten to fifteen phone calls a day is a sign you're getting close.

6- When you hear the words "I can't take it anymore!" wait at least three more days.

7 -You must keep this waiting game interesting. False alarms are mandatory! Little teasers such as looking at your stomach, pushing your food around in the bucket and then walking away from it, and nesting, are always good for a rise. Be creative and find new things to do to keep the adrenaline pumping in those who wait.

8- The honor of all goats is now in your hands. Use this time to avenge all of your barn mates. Think about your friend who had to wear that silly costume in front of those people. Hang onto that baby for another day. OH, they made him do tricks too! Three more days seems fair. Late feedings, the dreaded diet, bad haircuts, those awful wormings can also be avenged at this time.

9- If you have fulfilled all of the above and are still not sure when to have the kids, listen to the weather forecast on the radio that has been so generously provided by those who wait. Severe storm warning is what you're waiting for. In the heart of the storm jump into action! The power could go out and you could have the last laugh. You have a good chance of those who wait missing the whole thing while searching for a flashlight that works!

10- Make the most of your interrupted nights. Beg for food each time someone comes into the barn to check you. Your barn mates will love you as the extra goodies fall their way too.

Remember, this code of honor was designed to remind man of how truly special goats are. Do your best to reward those who wait with a beautiful doeling to carry on the Doe Code of Honor for the next generation of those who wait.

Marla came to me across the pen maa-ing quietly like I was her baby. What's up Marla? She never acts like this. Then I see her laying by the barn while everyone else is eating. I got the message, today is the day. Babies are on the way. We had 3 sets of triplets already to start kidding season. One set Wed and 2 sets today! Is Marla having 3 too?

We've been seeing lots of this lately, it's calving time! First the cow will try to find a secluded spot away from the herd, then she will be acting uncomfortable, holding her tail up, wandering around, digging nests in the straw and laying down/getting up. Seeing the water sac and amniotic fluid is exciting because we know if all goes well, the next thing we will see is feet, and then a tongue or a face. In a couple instances we have had to assist but generally they can do it all on their own.

Kids and dogs. Everyone is enjoying our warmer weather following that cold snap. The dog is even getting a little hot and had to cool off by laying in the snow. Even the chickens are laying full force!
Kidding in Dec/January hmmm, that's what I get for buying bred does. At least they had decently accurate due dates! It sure breaks up the bleakness of winter!❤️

It's not just animals that have worms. 🪱
We've been doing a parasite cleanse and the benefits are amazing. Super interesting to read this, it explains alot!

Parasite Cleansing

What are parasites?
Parasites live amongst almost all animals on the Earth. They play a crucial role in consuming or “cleaning up” what no longer lives, so that new life has room to grow. Parasites have a tendency to pass through the colon walls of a healthy animal to search for additional food or spaces to lay their eggs.

The parasites, in nature, will find organs or other areas in the body that are either weakened or contain a toxic build up of waste to nest or feed. There, they will begin to consume the tissue of an already compromised organ, causing further damage to the body.

How do we get parasites?
Parasites are a natural part of our human existence. In almost every aspect of life, parasites exist. Although we can contract them in almost any scenario, we can also reduce our parasite load by cleansing from them.

You can increase your parasite load by eating unwashed produce, walking barefoot on soil, drinking contaminated water, having small children, owning pets, touching contaminated surfaces in public places, eating raw meat and fish, etc.

Do I have parasites?
Surprisingly, almost all people have parasites. As parasites are emerging as a topic of interest in the western world, more research is being done. There are a number of respected leaders in medicine who have claimed parasites to be the most undiagnosed condition in America.

The Best Time to Cleanse
Since some parasites lay eggs, it is recommended to cleanse on or around the Full Moon of each month, as this is the period when eggs typically hatch. This period is also when parasites are most active, which allows them to be more vulnerable to anti-parasitic herbs. For best results, begin the cleanse 5 days prior to the full moon, and continue on to complete 10 full days.* Following these dates are encouraged but not necessary for a successful cleanse. Beginning up to 5 days before or after the start date will still bring results.

Upcoming parasite cleansing windows:

January 21 - January 30, 2024

February 20 - February 29, 2024

March 25 - March 30, 2024

April 19 - April 28, 2024

May 19 - May 28, 2024

June 17 - June 26, 2024

July 17 - July 26, 2024

August 15 - August 24, 2024

September 13 - September 22, 2024

October 13 - October 22, 2024

November 11 - November 20. 2024

Decmber 11 - December 20, 2024

The Best Time to Cleanse

For thousands of years in ancient cultures, the act of cleansing the body was second nature.

The relationship that the western world has with parasites and cleansing as a whole has been diluted.

As the human steps away from the practice of cleansing, we see an overwhelming uptake in toxicity-related disease.

Parasites are beginning to be linked to cancers of the liver, pancreas and lung and with mental illnesses such as depression and schizophrenia.

Parasite Symptoms
The most common symptoms of a parasitic infection include:

• Teeth grinding
• A**l itching
• Seasonal allergies
• Anxiety
• Intense sugar cravings
• Cravings of alcohol
• Excessive hunger
• Nutrient deficiencies
• Anemia
• Fatigue
• Unclear thinking
• Restlessness

Relevance to Other Diseases
Tapeworms

Mineral imbalance, thyroid imbalance, intestinal gas, high and low blood sugar, bloating, jaundice, and fluid build-up*

Hookworms

Inflammation and blindness due to parasitic lodging in the retina*

Toxoplasmosis

Hodgkin’s Disease, leukemia, heart implications, blindness, pneumonia, and low blood sugar*

Long-Term Effects of Parasitic Infection
Erosion in the Body

Parasites can erode, damage and block pathways in the body, especially in the brain, heart and lungs.*

Nutrient Deficiency

As parasites deplete us of nutrients, people who struggle with parasitic infections can become nutrient deficient and develop anemia.*

Toxic Waste

Parasitic wase is a harmful neurotoxin that the body struggles to dispose of and can lead to nerve damage.*

Physical Trauma

A parasite’s movement may pe*****te the intestinal wall, leaving our bodies susceptible to conditions that arise due to gut lining damage.*

We go by these flowering alfalfa plants every year, cut them down, make hay from them, our animals eat them, but how closely do we actually look at them.
Stop to take a moment to peek at the flowers, so delicate and intricate, go ahead smell them too! It's the little things. 🤩
