Hello, fellow Nomads! Are you as excited as I am that it's finally September, and that fall, my favorite season, is just around the corner? We're already enjoying shorter days, which is good because we'll be getting more hot ones here in the PNW, and my dear furball Aengus seems to be past shedding season. I mean, he still sheds...but I'm not finding enormous hanks of fur anymore.

Kids are about to go back to school, and here in Corvallis we year-round residents are savoring the last quiet weeks before university students descend, en masse, on our little town once more. And all of that means more traffic is coming. So please watch out not only for humans on the roads, but also for cats, dogs, deer...hmmm, rutting season will be here before we know it...and any creature who hasn't figured out how dangerous traffic can be. Also, with the kids back in school, your animal companions could get lonely. Transitions are hard for them too, so give them a little extra love.

And finally, anyone else watch Sweet Tooth? I just saw the final episode last night. What would it be like to be an interspecies hybrid? I think Aengus would love to be able to fly. I've always been fascinated with horses; what if I could be a centaur? Then Aengus could ride on my back, which in my current human form would require a backpack if I don't want his needle-sharp claws digging in. What would you be if you could be a hybrid? Let me know in the comments, and meanwhile, enjoy this seasonal shift.

Is the stress getting to you? It's been a crazy week, and odds are this weekend will be even more so - tons of traffic, that same stupid Drummer Boy song playing everywhere you go, waaaaaaay too much tinsel and who on earth said you can wrap a present with only two pieces of tape?! When I get like that I stop whatever I'm trying to do, look around for a dog, and say their name. Why? Because when I do that, they immediately start wagging their tails, and there is just something about that reaction that makes me smile 🙂. No pets around? Grab some bread and go feed the ducks, or some sunflower seeds and go feed the squirrels.
