Morning! Today I have a video of us working on R+ and learning about the click :) In the video I am working on reinforcing the click as a reward. With Murph I’m trying to lengthen the time in between where he is facing away, and Gus is still trying to get the hang off the whole look away thing. It’s a work in progress but we are getting there! They both are food motivated, so I’m then gonna work on manners around the treats. I’ve worked on this before with Murph, so he is more advanced along than Gus. (Also because Murph is too smart for his own good)! I noted every time I clicked on the video so you all can see the timing of when I reward ! Have a great day! #myguymurph #nofussgusgus
I’m thinking of trying R+ with Gus and Murph while he is still here. I’m interested to see if it will help our relationship. Gus has been more willing to do liberty without pressure, so I’m thinking it will help :) #nofussgusgus !

.
I worked with Gus a little bit on Sunday while the weather was nice and warm. Because Gus has got some extra energy inside. So we are still working on him trotting off when I ask for a circle. He gets excited and trots, then canters and such. So I do want him to run but then when he starts to slow down I keep him going so he knows that I am controlling where his feet go. He did a LOT better on knowing the voice commands today. After a while of trotting and cantering, he actually slowed down to a walk for me. And then I got him straight into a canter after that. I am super proud of how much he is retaining from our other sessions ! After having a successful lunge, I did some other ground work with him. In the video specifically, I am working on his back up. There are multiple ways I like to be able to back horses up, and this is just one. He did great and by only a couple tries he was backing up without being touched by the stick. I also worked on moving his hips and forelegs. Which both moved pretty well. The time went by super quick when I was working with him! :) #nofussgusgus
This is Gus ! He is a 15 y/o grade Appaloosa … and he’s mine :) I was not expecting to find a horse so fast, so I am super excited! We brought him home in the trailer today just in time to watch the Super Bowl ! Gus’s hashtag will be #nofussgusgus ❤️ I can’t wait to see what we accomplish :)
🦃 Happy Turkey Day ✨

I hope you all have a great thanksgiving! There are so many things in life I am thankful for :)
.
One specific thing I’m thankful for is the breakthrough murph and I had on Monday ! Being inexperienced and not asking questions about it, I thought I had to consistently and constantly put pressure to keep murph going. But I spoke with my mom who clarified this notion for me and I tried just doing pressure and release. It worked wonders! He was much more responsive and stayed in the trot much longer without pressure! I’m so proud of him and I’m proud of myself for realizing something was off. It’s an adventure of learning new things with murph and I love it! And for that, I am thankful ✨
okay I’m in love with this horse 🥺 this was after 3 weeks off of no riding…and we went no-hands and no stirrups ! I’m so proud of him for doing so well! We had some attitude but that was expected after such a long break ❤️ like… what would I do without that horse in my life ✨

audio created by me, but I do not own this song !
Found some old footage in the archives that I hadn’t used before ! Don’t look too bad but definitely not where we were before Murph broke himself 😂 I love seeing our progress 🥺 it gives me so much hope for the future! Can’t wait to get back to riding! Would try and see how he’s looking but I’m so busy right now, it’s gonna have to be a weekend job!
