A few things to remember heading into the first day of competition down here in Glen Rose. All the hard work has been done. You are prepared. You are ready. Now go have some fun n show ‘em what you can do!

Good luck to all the competitors this week especially the Canadians 🇨🇦 🫶

Stop expecting perfection.

Work on feel.

Be intentional.

Get out of your head, it’s not that complicated.

Believe in yourself.

Trust yourself.

Sue has been competitive in both the open and pro divisions of EXCA. She is also proving that she is suitable for most levels. She was shown half of this season by a 12yr old youth. Although I wouldn’t have a true complete beginner ride her as she is sensitive to aids.

In addition to numerous wins and titles in Alberta her biggest accomplishments have been placing 4th in Futurity in 2022 and Calgary Stampede Cowboy Up Champion in 2023.

She has experience at brandings; gathered, sorted, roped and drug calves. She also has some experience at cowhorse/cutting clinics and seems to enjoy working them. She rides out well alone and has a ground covering walk.

She can continue in EXCA or take her and do ranch horse versatility, ranch work, team penning/sorting or whatever you wanted to pursue. She is versatile, willing and handy.

She will be competing at the EXCA World Finals in Open and Pro. She will be in Stephenville, TX October 25 moving to Glen Rose Oct 28

And some can do it all!

💫Miss N My Lucky Star💫

Hard to believe I ever questioned buying this mare. She has turned into such a rockstar and made dreams come true. And maybe more to come still 🤞🏻

Our time together is coming to an end. She will officially be available after EXCA World’s at the beginning of November. It’s time for her to continue making dreams come true with her next partner.

To put it mildly Stampede was a struggle this year. And I struggled deciding if I should post this or not.

I struggled with my balance. I struggled with my strength. My energy. My sight. (By Saturday morning warm-up I couldn’t see you if you were passing on my left side 🫤) I struggled with dealing with what my new normal is going to be and how much it is going to affect my riding, my life.

Anyone who really knows me knows I procrastinate. I put things off till the last possible moment. Especially if it’s something I don’t want to do. Something I don’t want to deal with. Well my body loud and clear told me last week that I can’t put it off anymore and I actually need to deal with what’s going on. (Which was in the works just before leaving for Calgary but nothing actually done)

Thank you to everyone who showed concern both during and after Stampede. It was pretty obvious that I wasn’t 100% and that I wasn’t riding like I can ride.

I’m not big on sharing. And I very privately like to deal with my own problems. But know that I’ll be ok. I may not be ok every day but I will get through this.
I will share what is going on but on my own time. Right now I’m just not ready 🧡

Not a post to get sympathy or make excuses. It was not my week. My horse was there for me but there were just too many other factors limiting a good performance.

Congratulations Sophia on a well deserved championship! 🥰 And congratulations to all the other competitors it was an honour to get to ride with so many world champions and accomplished riders.
