It is me, the three-legged Sweetie!

From the streets to the sanctuary, life has not always been kind to her.

One of her legs had to be amputated after she was cruelly slashed by an evil person. She was trapped in a drain for days, possibly hiding, until her rescuer found her and brought her to safety along with her puppies and sister.

Her rescuer managed to find adoptive homes for all her family members, and fortunately, Sweetie found her way here.

Coincidentally, we discovered that our supporter had adopted her sister. We were informed by her adopter that she still suffers from trauma after witnessing the incident that befell Sweetie, a case of PTSD. Poor girl.

But Sweetie? She is one of a kind. She remains unaffected by the tragedy that nearly took her life and resulted in the loss of one of her legs.

A cheerful and optimistic soul, she simply loves human attention. Looking at her smiling face, no one would ever guess the hardships she has endured.

Sweetie's stay here is generously supported by her rescuer.

Our long-term resident, Billy (pictured on the right), has been with us for as long as we can remember.

He arrived as a young pup, and now his fur has turned gray as he enters his senior years.

Billy used to be quite shy and skittish, but he has gained so much confidence over the years. He has been the leader of his pack for many years now.

We are grateful that Billy's rescuer continues to provide financial support for him after all these years.

Unfortunately, many people who seek our help later abandon their animals in our care. This often happens because they mistakenly believe that these animals only live for 1-2 years, not realizing that dogs and cats can live an average of up to 15 years with proper care.

Therefore, we urge potential pet owners to carefully consider their commitment before bringing an animal into their lives. Rescuing animals should be about providing quality care, not just quantity.

Tricolor Melissa and Oyen Manny.

We adopted them 12 years ago. They are already in their senior years, but fortunately, they have no major health issues.

Dogs and cats can live up to a good 10-18 years based on our experience. Some cats are known to live up to their early 20's.

Common health issues for cats include kidney disease, which is believed to be contributed by kibbles and lack of drinking. Most, though not all, cats will get it once they reach their senior age.

Those who have both dogs and cats will agree that cats are much easier to care for than dogs, but not when they fall sick. Medicating and caring for a sick cat can be very stressful for both the cat and the owner.

Cats are very good at hiding their illnesses or pain. Therefore, it is important to always be attentive to their behavior and condition.

It can be challenging when you have many pets. We do our best to provide them with the best care we can.

One interesting fact that we learned is that it is uncommon for an oyen to be female. Interestingly, Manny is a female.

She is indeed a very rare cat.

Greetings from Daisy Jr. (left), Klauss, and Lemon! We hope you are having a wonderful day.

The weekend has arrived once again. Time passes swiftly, and we are already nearing the third quarter of 2024.

You may be curious about what we are doing under the platform. We simply enjoy it here because it is cooler.

Daisy and her siblings were abandoned at our gate as tiny puppies in 2016. Some of them contracted parvovirus, but they fortunately recovered.

They have all grown up now.

Hi to Siblings Mango (left) & Fruity! 😄

It was probably 2017 when these siblings squeezed themselves between the front gate gap to enter the Sanctuary. All 4 of them. They would be 7 years old now.

Most of the animals that come to us, chances are they never left. 😿

They spent their lives at the Sanctuary till the time they cross the rainbow bridge. Plus minus a good 15 years if they come as a puppy or kitten. 🐶🐱

We are the only family they know. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

Our shy boys who came to us 10 years ago. They were originally from another Group who we accept for boarding but we eventually inherit as our own.

Chiko (brown) is the only one that can be touched. The other 2 is still super shy even after so long.

Nevertheless, this is their home and they are content. To be able to feel belonged and happy is a bless.

Our big family consists of various animal species with different personalities and characters.

We try our very best to understand them so that their stay is fulfilling and joyful till it's time for them to cross the 🌈 bridge.

To experience love, to be able to express themselves, to enjoy space, grass and sun.

It's all about quality of life.

Gorgeous Chimney and her overflowing tummy. 🤰 *tsk * tsk.

Chimney was brought over along with 2 other kittens by a German vet nurse who offered to volunteer with the Sanctuary. She came as a tiny kitten and has 'flourished' well 🐱.

Zam, one of our shy dogs. Arrived with his brothers, George and Mango - these 3 boys slipped into our front area through a gap on the gate. 🐶🐶🐶

The brothers were definitely dumped and as they were tiny they were able to squeeze into our premise. 💔

It was 2014/2015 then and they have now entered their senior years. All 3 boys are still shy especially with strangers. They are happy living with their pack, their family for many many years now. 👴👴👴

Here he is with his gang on their morning run. 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️

Carlos ( pointed ear) and girlfriend Gerry, the couple that's made in heaven. So perfect for each other! 💑

Both of them are hyperactive with similar likes and dislikes.

Carlos was tied up nearby our Sanctuary. He had what looks like a wound on the leg that was left untreated. Of course, the person who tied him there anticipated that we will spot him and out of kindness will treat him.

Our kindness by the way cost us a 15 years of commitment. Which many do not realise when asking to take in an animal. A commitment in ensuring that we are able to run the Sanctuary despite the many challenges.

To personally be healthy to manage the Sanctuary as we aged and to do our best.

In that 15 years, many of us have moved on in our lives. Many have conveniently forgot that they have once make a promise to us when they asked for help.

The animals however are still here. When they enter the senior years is when they get more and more dependent on us, the caretaker. Just like us human as we aged.

While we are not able to save every single animals, the one that is under our care will be taken care of at our best ability.

Its all about providing the qualities of life.

Mrs Tug! We would think she's 15 years old or even more, now. 😱

Her health? So far, so good (🤞).

Mrs. Tug is a loner. She's not keen to be with other cats or to be around humans. Just minding her own business. 🐈‍⬛

These are the faces of our super naughty gang. 🐶😈

All they do all day is play, have fun, and are mischievous. These happy doggies came from the streets with various backgrounds.

They arrived as young puppies; some were dumped, and some were picked up, mostly in bad situations.

They have thrived from being skinny, sickly puppies to these beautiful, healthy, and confident youngsters.

It's the weekend, gang! 🎉🐶

Meet the scruffy gang- Sabby & Sandy, the siblings who grew up from tiny, horrendous-looking puppies to these lovely individuals. 🐾❤️

They were found fur-less with skin issues, stinking horribly, and with bloated stomachs. 🤢😢

Abandoned 2 years ago, they are now happy teenagers with their big pack of youngsters. 🐶🐶🐶

Rita here. The 2 year old girl who was dumped together with her mama & 3 other siblings, near to Christmas in 2021.

A happy girl she is but had to be separated from her gang as she's quite a bully. They were growing up peacefully together until their characters blossomed.

Rita and Ria, who inherited the sharpei looks are bigger in size comparing with the rest of the siblings.

And that's when the bullying starts.

She's on her own for now till we find a perfect match for her.

Good morning! ☀️

Meet Kelly (right) and W***y, two of our oldest residents. 💕

Kelly lost her sister to cancer in 2012, and W***y has been with us for an incredible 7 years! 🐾

G recently paired them up, and they've become the best of friends. 😊

Kelly is aging like fine wine, and we couldn't love her more! 😍

Sunny (left) and new partner Ms. Trouble.

Sunny's previous partner, Angel passed away and so did Trouble's. And so after much observation we matched them 2.

Sunny is a loving, gentle boy but not much of a pack dog. He has been living with Angel for the longest time and they were perfect together.

Meanwhile, Ms. Trouble used to be a trouble maker when she arrived 8 years ago.

Though its the past, we think she'sa lot happier with a single male. Sunny is her 4th partner. Her previous partners died of old age.

By the picture, we know that they are enjoying each other's company. All our animals that lives at the Sanctuary are never lonely. We try to match their parther that suits their personality so they will have companionship.

Of course unless, it's their nature that they chose to be on their own.

Like us human, some are extrovert, some prefers to be on their own.

One of our seniors. Mrs Tug! She has been at the Sanctuary since 2009.

We would guess that she's 15 years old at least. Tug is not a cat, cat nor is she a human, cat.

Just the type of girl whose not keen to be amongst any cats or pat by human.

Just a loner who love to be by herself. She's not aggressive at all. Just love to be left alone.

Old is gold! And here at the Sanctuary she's precious.

While we may not be able to tell you that we have saved many lives, what we can tell you is, everyone that we helped will be provided with quality of life.

On top of basic care, we ensure that they have space to roam, mental stimulation and to be understood and loved as an individual.

It's all about quality, not quantity.

It's another sunny day at the Sanctuary!

Meet Chocolate! She has made the Sanctuary her home since 2016. So she would be 8 or 9 now.

She and her mom was straying in a housing estate. Worried for their safety we took them in.

Her mother died in quite recent year and she's on her own now. She lives with her pack in an established hierarchy.

She's comfortable and happy there.
