As many of you know, Pugalug has currently closed our intake of new foster pugs because we are at capacity. That doesn't mean the emails from owners looking to surrender, or shelters looking to place a pug stop. Our President, Blanche Axton recently published a new blog post on our website talking about the current state of the dog rescue world, and the realities of dog rescue in a time of chaos. Spoiler Alert: things are tough right now, not just for Pugalug Pug Rescue but for the entire dog rescue community. Thank you to all of our incredible volunteers and foster families for the hard work that you do and for the care and commitment you give to us. We are entirely volunteer-run, and this rescue and the work that we do doesn't exist without you.

💖 Sweet TAM has a cozy update from 🏡 Foster Home. ☀️ Happy Friday!

📝 “Tam continues to keep on trucking but walks very little now. She still eats well and always makes her needs known with her various interesting little barks. She sits at my feet all day while I work from home. On the days that I am in the office, my younger daughter tends to sit with her for the day. All in all she seems to still be quite happy and comfortable but at this time we treat each day as a gift.”

💟 Happy Monday! 🪻 Darling LUCY has an UPDATE from her 🏡 Foster Home!

📝 “Just a short update for Lucy. She was previously eating her two meals at 12pm & 5pm. We have been able to move her breakfast meal to 11am now, so progressing well! She’s one of the most well behaved pups. She greets people at the door with a tail wag, but never barks and doesn’t jump on people. She has become best friends with our cat, and our son. She seems to love just being around people as pugs do. She loves snooping around the backyard, and listens very well to voice commands. We had our first introduction to another dog, and she was amazing with it. Once they did the initial greet, she became playful and they ran around together having fun. As of right now, we have no concerns about her and I haven’t a negative thing to say! She’s great!”

📝 “Prince is a very happy boy but does have a nervous energy about him sometimes. Keeping him close and petting him calmly or putting him in his crate with a stuffed Toppl or something relaxing gets him back to a happy busy energy instead of the unsure nervous silly energy.”

Y’all… 💜 Welcome LUCY (foster pug #389) to PugALug. Isn’t she the most darling girl?

📝 Intro- “Meet lovely Lucy, a 7 year old spayed fawn pug who came into rescue on June 24 because her octagenarian owner had to move into assisted living. She is super friendly around all adults and laps up any attention. She looks to be in great shape but will be going to the vet for her check-up in a few days. We look forward to getting to know her better in the coming weeks.”

📝 Update from Foster Mum- “Lucy has been settling in amazingly. She’s very happy around the house, plays with her tigger toy all the time and is navigating the home beautifully. She already knows where to ask to go out, and is enjoying snooping around our back yard. She had been eating her food on schedule, and we will continue working with her to make the morning meal a bit earlier. Today she ate it at 11:45. She has been sleeping through the night, and is completely zonked! She is very curious about our cat, but is politely respecting his boundaries, which is amazing. They will be friends in no time! All in all, I don’t have any concerns about her as of yet.”

🐾🖤 Frankie, one of the MAGNIFICENT 7, has gone to the 🌈 Bridge. Here is a beautiful write-up from his family…

“The PapaV house is quieter tonight. Today, we said goodbye to the sweetest and most loyal little buddy, Frankie. His health declined rapidly over the last day or so and we made the difficult decision to let him go. We know logically that we were beyond lucky to have him for 15 years and that this was the best decision for him, but it still really hurts. He wasn’t just a dog to us. He was a founding member of our family, best friend, and loyal companion. Frankie loved just being with me and was my shadow. He was patient and good natured through life’s ups and downs and resilient as he battled health issues over the last several years. He loved his walks, his people, and his treats. Tonight, we believe he is no longer in pain and reunited with Tucker and Charlotte. We want to thank Dr. Christi and Heather Ann at 5th Ave for their tremendous care over the last few years and the kindness and compassion they showed us tonight. Finally we want to thank Pugalug Pug Rescue for allowing us to adopt Frankie all those years ago. Although it really hurts right now, we know that we were truly loved by a one of a kind dog and that we were lucky to have been his family. ❤️”

⭐️ Super 🩵 TOBY has an update from his 🏡 Foster Home!

📝 “At home Toby is sleeping in bed with my oldest more and hogs the bed. He wakes me up at 5am to let me know it’s time for breakfast. He loves snuggling on the couch while we watch television but reacts to the dogs on the tv. But then he takes all his toys to show off, so I’m wondering if he was trying to play with them? All in all, he’s a wonderful dog with a few quirks.”

☀️ Happy Monday from 💜 TAM who has an ✅ UPDATE from her 🏡 Foster Home!

📝 “Tam is continuing to do well with her mobility and is still getting around quite well. She has however lost the ability to control her bowels. During the day when I am working from home, she stays under my feet and tends to nap away the day. When she does get up there is always a race to get her outside. I do put her in a diaper when needed, but I try to get by with timing her time outside and lots of extra baths. She doesn’t love the baths, but she does love being wrapped up in towels and being given extra cuddles with snacks. She continues to eat well and interact well with her environment in the house. The downside however, is that she doesn’t get to sleep on the big bed with me at night anymore. There were just too many accidents. Tam will be coming with me though to the next Pugalug event and I’m sure she is going to love it.”
