My lovely much loved ‘pet’ Abyssinian boar, Wilbur, passed over the rainbow bridge yesterday. 😭

He had been deteriorating for a while, but at least we had a lovely 5 years. R.I.P. lovely boy 💙🌈

😭💙 A big shock today to find my lovely Fagin in his forever sleep 💙 😭

He was such a character and a real cheeky chap. He was also a good show and stud boar. I will miss him very much.

My pigs did really well at the NCC Staffordshire Show/combined ACC Stock Show. Photos attached. ‘Felix’ my adult T&W boar came runner up to Simon’s adult Brindle (who took best in show), so I’m very proud of Felix’s achievement.

My 5-8 boar sadly had no other TWs in his class to go against (so disappointing) but my 2 x U/5 T&W boars came 1st and 2nd in their class, and my 2 x U/5 T&W sows came 1st and 3rd.

My Adult AOC boar took first in his class, and my 5-8 came 2nd in his class.

Despite having the most crushing headache (I wasn’t alone as quite a few of the committee were not very well), managed to get through the day and happy with my pig’s results:-

T&W Adult : 1/7
T&W 5-8 : 1/4 and 3/23 challenge
T&W u/5 (no entries)

AOC Adult : 1 and 2/2
AOC 5-8 : 1/2
AOC u/5 : 1/4

Brindle u/5 2/8

Well done to all the other Aby breeders, nice to see so many Abys out and about. Great for our breed. 👍

Excellent Results from the Brian Emmett Memorial Show (Abyssinian Cavy Club) at Yardley Hastings. I’m especially happy that my Adult Roan came 2nd in the final Adult Challenge. Detailed results as follows:-

T&W (boar)

Roan (sow) : 1/3

AOC (boar): 1/3

5-8 MONTHS:
T&W (boar) 1/2

UNDER 5 MONTHS:
T&W (sow) : a little disappointed that she was sent back to her pen as being too big. (MY PIGS ARE BIG!). This girl isn’t 5 months old for another 8 days either.

This is ‘Daneside Phedra’ : winning Tort & White and Best Sow at the Abyssinian Cavy Club SS, Doncaster.

She does have a large white chin, white leg and bottom which cannot be seen in this photograph.

She’s by a huge T&W boar (Minstrel’) whom I originally got from John Booth (Scotland) and out of a sow from Derek Pike’s lines.

Her 3.5 month old daughter also won herTort & White class at Doncaster too. I’m very pleased.

🏵️ ❤️Had a revamp of the end shed wall …. many rosettes are kept in a large box, but these are relative to Abyssinian Cavy Club wins, with the latest Bradford Centenary Rosettes for a bit of pale gold glamour! ❤️ 🏵️

I was really surprised to receive a lovely rosette for my pigs from The National Cavy Club ABYSSINIAN Points Winner 2022. I’m so proud of my Abys! ❤️
