If you want to be the best you have to train with the best!💪 In July I headed down for Mantrailing Mastery with Kathryn Jones Trailing K9s for 3 whole days of fun and epic trailing geekery. ❤️ Not only to improve my own skills as a handler but to make sure I am the best instructor I can be!
It was also a great opportunity to meet up with fellow instructors Ascent K9 Pawzability Mantrailing Cae Brics Trailing Minster K9's

Last week at Mantrailing Mastery with Trailing K9s & Borders Mantrailing & Scent Training I was over the moon for Kirsty Watts and Elspeth Spenklepenny (Sam) to win trophies 🎉👏👏👏🏆
I am so proud of you guys ♥️
Then on the last afternoon my very own John Boy also won a trophy! 🥹 There wasn't tears in my eyes, honest😂
Not only was it a fantastic few days but only 4 trophies were handed out and we brought 3 of them back to Northumberland 😁💪

Last night we met up to practice our tracking skills, to follow on from the intro to tracking with Borders Mantrailing & Scent Training
Different weather conditions and wind meant we learnt about the importance of which directions we laid our tracks 🍃💨🐕🦺🐾🐕

It was a learning day yesterday for myself and Hendricks with an intro to tracking course with Borders Mantrailing & Scent Training followed by a cheeky mantrailing session.
As many of you know, gundogs are my passion ♥️
But gundog training is not just for anyone planning on working their dog.
This type of training is an amazing outlet for many dogs, especially the working type breeds.

Introduction workshop for newbies and puppies - going through some basics of retrieving, self control and focus.

The 1st weekend without rain 🥳😎
What a beautiful weekend we had! ♥️ Lots of Sun 😎 and NO rain! 💯 We even had to shed some layers!! 😂
On Saturday we trailed at Fenham and introduced ⭐ Team Flynn. He's a natural and we can't wait to see him again 😁
We also had ⭐ Team Flora ⭐ Team Tammy ⭐ Team Moss
We worked longer trails, more complicated in open fields, perfecting our starts and confidence boosting. All dogs worked amazingly 🤩💯🌟
On Sunday we were at Silverlink, again in the sunshine. 🌞
⭐ Team Jessie was on her first progression, absolutely smashed it, already showing clear negatives at junctions (especially for a spaniel!😂)
⭐Team Etta worked on junctions, junctions, junctions! Learning we don't have to go at 100 mph 🤣 She may be small but mighty! 💪
⭐ Team Nyx worked junctions then 1st time with a walking misper. She knew the trail had ended but it couldn't possibly be the silly human out in the open! 😂
⭐ Team Devon worked hard with his junctions then also his 1st time with a walking misper. And didn't he do his mum proud!!! 😍 While Devon may look like a scary Rottweiler, he's actually a gentle soul and a little bit scared of people. He approached the trail layer with so much gentleness and was brave enough to go up to her 🥳🎉🏆

On Saturday we had 11 teams at Wansbeck Business Park, 2 on their intro- welcome ⭐ Team Wilbur &
⭐ Team Orbit.
Orbit showed she's a natural for the game but the 🌟 goes to Wilbur the whippet for the amazing confidence he built up though his 3 trails. ♥️
All other dogs worked superbly and each had their own learning moments. 🤩💪🏆
We had longer trails, split trails and Nyx even took scent off a banana without eating it 🍌😁

A few videos I managed to get while Kathryn Jones from Trailing K9s was up in Northumberland for some workshops. I adore and admire this very cool lady. Her knowledge and understanding of mantrailing is phenomenal and I always leave her sessions feeling uplifted and having learnt something new ♥️
And I got to hide for dogs I'm normally teaching 😁
Fantastic final day with Trailing K9s the weather may have been horrendous but we are tough trailers up north! 💪☔🌬️💦
Despite the weather, many thanks to the wonderful Kathryn Jones for some fantastic workshops. Lots of learning moments for everyone, laughs and cake! 🍰😋
Kathryn is one of the top instructors in mantrailing, her knowledge is encyclopedic but she is not afraid to take on new ideas and move the sport forward.
I can't wait until I can trail my own dogs with her again and hopefully will be hosting her again later in the year.

Last Sunday saw 9 teams at Woodhorn Museum. Everyone worked their socks off but ⭐ of the day went to Pippa the cocker spaniel. 13 years young, she made real progress in her trailing, with no sticky starts as previously and absolutely raced off to find her person 😁🐕🦺🏃♀️❤️
