Katy turns 25 🎉 🥳 🎈

Today we had a little birthday celebration for the lovely Katy turning 25, although she still acts like a 5 year old! She wore her party hat with pride, while we enjoyed some cider and carrot cake, kindly supplied by Katys mum Victoria 🥕🧁

Ripple appreciation post!

How good does she look?! The most easy going little horse, with a heart of gold 💛

With permission of ripples owners, we will be hoping to get her out to a local show & take her in a veteran class.

Although in her early twenties, she’s still got the heart of a 5 year old at times! And she’s very happy to show off her beautiful Welsh trot going to & from the field!

This week, we welcomed the lovely ‘Doris’ to Brown Springs Farm. Doris is 95% blind due to having cataracts. We are all really pleased at how quickly she has settled! She’s really enjoying being out with her field mate, but equally enjoying the comfort of her stable. Welcome to the team Doris 🥰

This is the lovely Apple 🍏 (picture taken this morning) she is in her early 20’s and has been with us for around 4 years on grass livery. In autumn last year, we decided with Apples mum that she just wasn’t coping living out any more, so she went on our full retirement livery package.
Apple is a very particular horse, she likes things done in a certain way, and after living out for the past 4 years, transitioning to a stable kept horse wasn’t something that happened overnight. We put a lot of time, patience and thought into Apples care plan, making sure that her stress levels were kept minimum, but also making sure she was able to be looked after properly in a stabled environment, rather than living out on the grass as that just wasn’t working for her any more. Fast forward till now, we have a very happy, healthy horse, who has come out of winter in great condition, not just physically but mentally too. She now loves her stable, thrives on routine and is living her absolute best life.

At Brown Springs Stud, each and every horse is treated as an individual, their specific needs are met with the well-being of the horse our very top priority.

***The cost of our full livery***

I’d just like to run through the cost of our services. We are a full livery service, this includes;

*Stabled overnight in a rubber matted stable, with automatic water feeder, & Turnout during the day (reversed in spring/summer) in a secure paddock. Turnout can be individual, paired or group.

*Ad lib hay or haylage

*A choice of bedding, shavings/straw/wood pellets.

*2 feeds a day, compromising of veteran vitality, spillers fibre lite molasses free chaff and pony nuts. Micronised linseed & keyflow pink mash can be added at no extra cost.

*Farrier every 8 weeks (trim only)

*Worm count & appropriate worming as per result, twice a year.

*Dental checkup once a year.

*Full care of your horse or pony 365 days a year. We change rugs, groom, turn out/bring in, muck out, fill haynets, make feeds and anything else your horse may need on a day to day basis

The cost of this is £500 per calendar month, this works out at around £16.40 a day.

We are fully insured, and have a fantastic security security system in place. We also live on the farm, It is no more than 10 seconds from the stable yard to my front door. Security is paramount, there are absolutely no corners cut with our insurance policy or our security system.

We are very fortunate that we own the farm, we don’t have the overhead of rent every month, and I work that into the pricing to try and give a fair and realistic price of our services.

We try to keep our pricing as competitive as we can while delivering a first class service for our clients and their horses. We also like to give our clients choices (hay or haylage/choice of bedding) as we understand and appreciate that all horses are different, and what’s good for one won’t be good for another.

I hope this gives a good insight into our pricing system & the value for money we try to give to our clients, existing and new.

Kent & Masters surface block dressage saddle for sale. 17 inch, changeable gullet. This is a lovely saddle, in really good condition, unfortunately it just won’t go wide enough for my ever growing tank of cob, so I’m having to sell to put money towards another saddle. Also available is A Le Meiux gel-tek anatomical girth.

We have 3 spaces available for retirement livery from 1st March.

Brand new stable block, with rubber mats and automatic water feeders.
Brand new fences and gates on all our paddocks.
Owners live on site, with fantastic security system in place, no public footpaths and electric gated entrance.

This is on a full livery basis. Our livery includes;
Stable overnight and turnout during the day (this will be reversed in the spring and summer)
2 feeds a day.
Ad lib hay/haylage.
Bedding.
Farrier (trim only) every 8 weeks.
Dentist every 6 months.
2 worm counts a year, then appropriate worming as per result.
Full care or your horse or pony all year round.

We also offer holiday and box rest livery. Box rest livery can be offered on a DIY, assisted or full basis.
