Jamie boy!

As we all know, back in March 2020, the world shut down. But what you may not know is that I had just submitted my application for a work permit in Canada. What was supposed to take about 4 weeks to hear back quickly turned into a limbo land of waiting. I was disappointed, anxious, and lonely.

After months of admiring this beautiful golden boy through our window, I decided to be bold and ask the woman across the way if I could walk her dog. Soon I started hanging out with Jamie for an hour 3 days a week.

The world works in mysterious ways, but I know I needed that extra year of not having work eligibility to finally decide to follow my passion rather than the “norm”. All because of walks with this boy, I know I’m supposed to be working with dogs. I’m finally excited about the future and all the knowledge about these incredible creatures I will gain in the years to come.

Hi friends! I recently started a new job working as the kennel attendant at Pacific Northwest Kennels! Everest gets to come to work with me every day. She clearly has the time of her life while we’re there 😂 this girl cracks me up. She plays hard and loves mud puddles. Forgot to take an “after” picture, but this is how every shift ends 🐾💩🛁

Goose appreciation post! This guy is the definition of “Gentle Giant”. He is such a pleasure to hang out with and I look forward to my time with him every week 🖤 When we started our walks, he was a little hesitant to leave home with me, but now he jumps up and down with excitement when I walk in the door! Goose is the sweetest boy so I thought you all could use some more pics of him 🤗🐾

Say hello to new pack member, Goose!

Goose is a 9 year old German Shepherd Dog with the sweetest personality. I’m so excited to get to know him more and more. Today I picked him up for his second walk and he was so excited to see me (Day one he was a little confused at first🥴) I can already tell we are going to have so much fun in the walks to come🥰🐾

Through every phase of my life, I’ve found friendship and love in dogs.

When I was really young, it was Daisy. The golden retriever next door.

A few years after that, Cheyenne and Dominic. I still get choked up when I think of Dominic... he helped me through a lot.

Then we welcomed my baby, Marlee. She’s back home with my parents, and I miss her tons🖤

Moved to Canada and met my besties Hank, Norman, and Rider🇨🇦

Today, Everest is my shadow and companion🐾

Dogs have helped me through so much, and I’m so happy that I’m at a place where I can give back to them 🤍

Last night we started our 5 week beginner obedience class! Everest did so well. She definitely made us proud. It’s so great to finally be able to practice calm and focused behavior in the presence of other dogs and people.•

The only time I can get a great photo of sweet Everest is when she’s tired after running around. Here she is taking a breather after playing ball.⁣

I’ve officially had E for 3 weeks and 4 days. In that time, she has become such a more confident dog. I mean, really come out of her shell. She’s very intelligent and definitely ornery. With that, we’re anxiously awaiting our training sessions to start!⁣
⁣
Here are the top behaviors we would like to work on with trainings ⁣
➡️ Leash walking⁣
➡️ Ignoring other dogs’ advances⁣
➡️ Recall with distraction ⁣
➡️ Greeting humans ⁣
⁣

Dog Biscuit Recipe Alert!⁣

I’ve recently been on a journey of changing my diet over to whole foods that will fuel me throughout the day… so why not for my dog??⁣
⁣
I had some extra grocery items lying around, but not enough to make a human meal. So, I baked up some biscuits for Everest!⁣ 🍎
⁣
If you’d like to try these for yourself, here’s what you’ll need:⁣
> 2 cups Rolled Oats⁣
> 2 Apples⁣
> 2 Sweet Potatoes⁣
> 1 ½ tsp Cinnamon ⁣
> ¼ cup Applesauce⁣
> 1 heaping spoonful of Canned Pumpkin⁣
⁣
Here’s what I did:⁣
> Preheat oven to 350℉ ⁣
> Peel and Dice sweet potatoes, boil on the stove top until tender⁣
> Peel and Finely Chop or Grate apples⁣
> Blend up oats to make a flour like consistency⁣
> Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl (I used my hands to mix)⁣
> Spray cookie sheet with nonstick spray or lightly coat with coconut oil⁣
> Create discs to preferred size and lay out evenly on cookie sheet⁣
> Bake for 15-20 minutes⁣
> Let cool and then treat your pup! ⁣
> Store in airtight container⁣
⁣
