Foster puppies share b-fast out of wobble kong
Wobble kongs are a great activity and way to feed dog's their kibble. The only downside to them is they do crash around a bit.
This only the second time our foster puppies have had this toy and they've already discovered that pushing it is better than chewing to get the food to come out. Smart puppies.
And two of them are available for adoption in Durango, CO: the blonde (Vic) and the white and brown spotted (Vinny). The dark one (Ronni) is staying with us : )

We took our adoptable foster puppies to the Durango skate park on Monday to get them used to bikes, skateboards and kids. We had about 10 kids come over to pet and give them treats. They all did well and spent most of their time at the front of the cart (not the covered 'safe space' toward the back.) A successful outing!
It looks like we have approved adoptions for Velma, Vanna and Vic!!! Now we just need homes for mama Val, Vinny and Vivian.

Adoptable Valerie loves playing with her puppies. She's a good mom. She's good on leash, good with other dogs, never had an accident in the house, rides well in the car, uses a dog door and is super sweet, affectionate, playful and smart.
But Val needs some 'Me' time and more attention that she can get around her puppies! She's looking to get adopted or find a new foster home so she can get a break from her growing puppies.

We took the puppies to Santa Rita park last night and crashed this soccer game. Puppies met another 20 or so people including lots of kids. People kept commenting on how calm they were. One lady asked what we had given them 😆 That's the magic of early socialization. And we might have picked up another adopter!

Our foster puppies (available for adoption) are litter box trained but prefer to go outside. Our puppy area has a dog door and now that all puppies can use the door reliably, we are leaving it open at night. The first morning that they had access to the outdoor kennel overnight, there were 11 poops outside! I couldn't believe it. Since then, there have been more poops outside than in their indoor litter box.
These are some great puppies. We have handled, socialized and desensitized them since the day they were born (Jul 27). They have traveled in the car at least 8 times, met about 100 people, ridden around Durango in our garden cart and take off leash walks with us around our property every morning. The owners of the adopted puppies say they are integrating into their homes really well and everywhere we go, people comment on what good puppies they are.
These guys have had an excellent start in life and are on their way to being superb family pets. And their mom is sweet, silly, playful, smart, house trained, good on leash and with other dogs. We have been fostering Valerie since she was picked up a week before giving birth to 8 puppies on July 27, 2024. She was found by Blackhat Humane Society volunteers, begging for food in a Burger King parking lot near Burnside Junction, AZ. Val is a sweet, smart, affectionate, silly, playful girl who is house trained, can use a dog door, is good with other dogs and good on leash.
Her puppies have been handled and socialized since the day they were born. They are litter box trained, can use a dog door and have been following us off leash around our property for weeks. We put a lot of time and effort into our foster puppies because early socializing and desensitizing will benefit them for the rest of their lives. They have traveled in the car many times, have met 100+ people, been to Home Depot and ridden around in our garden cart. We've had several severe thunderstorms and everyone was completely unfazed! They were even outside in the rain for one of them.

Valerie is a completely different dog than when she got here. But it's not that surprising considering she was anemic, very underweight, pregnant and had just been abducted off the street and taken to a strange place. She was picked up at a Burger King parking lot near Burnside Junction in AZ. She is what we call a 'rez dog' b/c she came from a reservation. She is sweet, playful, smart, affectionate, good on leash, house trained and good with other dogs.
Her eyes are a little crossed but the vet says they are healthy, she may just see the world a little differently. She doesn't bump into things or seem to have any visual challenges. She does like to take her time when going somewhere new, I assume that is because it takes her a little longer to assess that the situation is safe. But it really doesn't seem to effect her much.
Val is ready for her next adventure with a new family. She and her puppies (5 of them are also available for adoption) have been in foster care with us in Durango since a week before they were born on Jul 27.
