"When I was 5, I would curl up in the lap of my dog while I slept. When my mom came in to get me up, my dog growled at her. I never understood why until much later.
I was taken away by the police due to abuse and my dog was protecting me. I spent the next 3 years in several foster homes. I don’t remember much, except the dogs. Every home that had a dog, was the dog that I latched on to. It was the dog that accepted me for who I was when everyone I knew abandoned me.
Later I was adopted. They also had a dog that became my best friend.
As I grew up, I always had a dog by my side. I am now a fully grown adult with children of my own and we all agree, our dog is their favorite sibling and our best kid…lol. This is Grubbs:
He is my emotional support animal. And I need him as much as he needs me. Due to my childhood traumas, I carry tremendous pain and he is the best medicine for me.
When I look back at my life, I can’t say one dog changed my world, rather dogs made my world worth living in. I could never express my gratitude enough. Thank Dog I’m even here today!
