Pumpkin has reached her puppy academy goals! She came to City of Tails on her first couple days, a bit shy towards new dogs, she was noise sensitive, and didn't quite know what to do with herself!
In her puppy behaviors check we noticed she was very worried about having her feet touched. Which will be difficult for her for life as she will need her feet touched for nail trims and even on the rare instance of a goat head/ thorn gets stuck in that paw. ( It happens to the best of us around these parts). 🐾
Today Pumpkin leaves our program with her head held high, has great tools and social abilities to meet people and other dogs that are approved by her humans of course 🤗
She is happily getting her feet handled and toes are getting trimmed! I adore this little lady and am so proud to call her a forever part of our City of Tails Family! Come visit us and send pictures of your adventures Pumpkin!

Can they do it?! 🫣. All 3 of these girls have been working hard individually on the wait at the door. They have built their confidence, now we add some fun distractions to the behavior, one being the 3 of these puppies doing the wait together !

Wait is a vital part of puppy training. This can save a puppy's life! 🚑These puppies practice wait at doors, gates, crate doors, and car doors.

With a heavy heart we say Good Bye to Walter.
We always know it will happen, it just happens far too quickly. Walter has outgrown Puppy Academy and has packed up all his learned skills to take with him on his big boy life journey. I am so excited for him to come visit and stay in our lives! He will be missed here but we definitely will be remembered by everyone of his friends!

There is so much about odor and brain development that scientists do not have a full understanding of. It will be exciting to see more research on this subject.

Dogs that were scent trained were found to be better at impulse control when tasked with treat based challenges, a study has found.

Seeking volunteer! City of Tails (my business) is looking for a puppy passionate, motivated individual for the puppy preschool program.

Hours Mondays or Wednesdays. 9a-1p.
Tasks will include picking up puppy p*e and p**p.
Helping puppy strengthen social skills and increase puppies convince with a variety of objects and activities.

Vote for your favorite pup in costume! We are ready for trick or treating.
Not only were my puppies today very kind in amusing me this was fantastic exposure to different materials and being put on and around them. This is valuable to get our dogs exposed to this at an early age to help them from getting stressed when they have a medical need that requires a "cone of shame" or bandage wrapped on a limb or even wearing a simple coat in the winter can be stressful if never had that before. These puppies all did great and got lots of treats to keep it very fun!
