To our neighbors and friends effected by the crisis that is COVID-19,
The workers of The People’s Pup Collective hold our community at the heart of the work we do, and it distresses us a great deal to think about the stress our community is currently undergoing in the midst of this crisis. We not only wish you all health and well-being in this time, but we also hope to act in real solidarity in whatever ways we can, while avoiding to the best of our abilities spreading the virus further.
We are going to continue serving the Portland area, so long as we have members who are healthy enough to do so, but we will be deviating from business as usual to provide as much help to our community as we are able while not becoming health risks ourselves. From March 23rd to April 3rd, we will be offering 20% off our standard dog walks, and in lieu of our normal $20 in-person consultations we normally require before beginning these services, we will be offering these consultations by phone instead, free of charge, beginning immediately.
We are also implementing policies to reduce the amount of time we spend and contact we have in people’s homes, to do our best to reduce the risk of transmitting the virus ourselves while ensuring that the animal members of our community get the care that they need.
Additionally, if any of our clients find that they are not under significant financial stress during this crisis and decide to pay full price for their walks, we will be donating 20% of the proceeds from those walks to the PDX COVID-19 Mutual Aid Network Fundraiser: https://www.gofundme.com/f/pdx-covid19-mutual-aid-network-fundraiser
We are holding you all in our hearts, and know that times like these can bring the best out in us humans when we decide to center mutual aid and solidarity in our approach to crisis. We can take care of one another, and we are especially fortunate to have animal companions to take care of us, too.
Love and Solidarity,
The People’s Pup Collective
